Genuine question here: what sort of proposals would even help this situation? At the end of the day, tampering is inherently flawed and enforced unevenly because you need proof (and in LB's case someone to report you). HO did what they had to under the rules and based on precedent. If someone didn't report LB for it then I highly doubt HO would have even looked into it because, let's be real here, the dude made a forum post about a fellow DSFL player that he played with, it's not like he was saying, "yo dude that team sucks you should threaten to retire if they don't trade you." Which we all know is never going to pass, because it's GMs and HO who vote on rule proposals. The current tampering rules make GMing easier because you don't need to worry as much about your player itching for a move because they've been speaking to their friend on another team about the idea of them joining their friend's team. Alternatively, you could propose to change the tampering punishment rules (IV. B. 1), which read: "Punishment will be handled on a case-by-case basis, but may include a fine, loss of draft picks, or loss of GM position.", but then you'd have to convince HO to vote to reduce its ability to decide what punishment would be most suitable.(12-10-2020, 10:02 PM)AdamS Wrote: We have quite a few people who care very deeply about this issue after the fact. And if you're not a GM, you've even less power to try and change things because you have to convince your GM to make such a proposal before it even reaches that stage. I don't think ordinary users have much option other than to complain about rulings in punishment threads or write media posts about it, so it always bothers me when people complain about other people complaining/asking questions in punishment threads. Minor additional point, IV. A. 3 states: "Tampering accusations may only be reported by the player who had been tampered with or his current GM or Co-GM with the exception of a flagrant public occurrence, in which case accusations may be levied by the HO." so tampering that occurs in gen chat or on the forums can be investigated and punished if no one reports it - so even if the other player and their GMs are nonplussed about it you could still get punished. It's fine to say, "make a change proposal" but I have a sneaking suspicion the league has gone down that road before and it's never been changed. |
