RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - oilmandan - 06-03-2021 Stewart Hellraiser was invited up a birthday party today. But it wasn’t your ordinary birthday party. No, this was for a young fan in Norfolk. Even though Stewart is still fairly new in the league, he apparently has fans. The only rule involved was that he dress up like a power ranger! It wasn’t like everyone was dressed as a power ranger either, just Stewart. So why was he the only one in power ranger garb? We’ll never know. But Stewart wasn’t about to deny his possibly only fans. Turns out his young fan, named David had very well off parents. There was a petting zoo, ball pit and even a bouncy castle! So much food too! There were tacos and burgers and pizza. Plus ice cream cake for dessert. All the food and fun made for a lot of upset stomachs after the party. Stewart included. He may or may not have thrown up a little on his costume. But he had fun nonetheless. And he gained many new fans as well. Pulling off a power ranger isn’t easy and doing it in sweltering heat is even harder. Who knows how far this story will reach, and what other strange requests Stewart may get in the future 208 words RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - TheRealMazatt - 06-03-2021 SHL Affiliate Username: Mazatt This is for CW which should lineup with the week of this PT RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - Troen - 06-03-2021 Prompt Wrote:We're now a quarter of the way through the season and the league is abuzz with with both surprises and disappointments through the first four games. Which team do you think is currently overachieving and which team do you think still has a chance to bounce back as the season progresses and why? Addressing these in reverse order, I'd like to think that Austin clearly has a chance to bounce back. We're theoretically only a slightly diminished team with a few players hit from regression vs. last year, and so I think that opening the season 1-3 is a much worse showing than how good we could be performing. The ISFL season is short enough that the stronger teams don't always win and it might be hard to make up the ground we're behind, but I expect the team to finish better than 4-12. Every game we lost (or won) has been a 1 score game and all the losses have been less than 7 points, so we're clearly competing rather than getting blown out. We just need to figure out how to do a better job at stopping the run and I think we can recover. As far as overperforming, I'm currently thinking that San Jose is likely to regress. They had a 3-1 record while winning every game by a field goal. Their passing game has been really good, but their passing defense has been problematic and I don't think that's a recipe to keep winning games. And for their two home wins against the Silverbacks and Secondline, they were solidly behind on time of posession as well. I just have to imagine that will catch up with them at some point. A lot of the season hasn't gone as I thought it was going to so far, though, so there's clearly not guarantees here. RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - Mooty99 - 06-04-2021 For this question I have to start on which dreamy the underachieving and the the possibility of bouncing back after a bad start. The team that a needed please bring this to my mind is of course Austin. After making the ultimus last season we were set for another good season. Unfortunately the start of this season as not being wrecked after winning the 1st game we have gone on to lose the next 5 including games we really should have one we should be at least 3 and 3 not 1 in the 5 however I am of the firm belief That we can turn this round and still compete for a play off place. With regards to teams that might be doing better than they should be, the teams that immediately spring to mind are San Jose and Sarasota. While both the teams are good I don't think that their current record is a true reflection, especially when you compare their players and ability to the other teams in the league. Box who knows with this league any one can win and anyone can lose. You just have to hope that the God of dots is on your side in the current season. It was occurring on the Monday of a long weekend, and it wasn’t a game day. C.J. elected to go to the party and brought the young Liberty fan an autographed Ryan Negs jersey, and his own #27 jersey for the young fan. “I’m not from Philly, but I know that it falls on us to give back to the community that gives us so much. I am incredibly fortunate to be playing the game I love for a living.” C.J. was quoted as saying at the birthday party. Jaden, the young man, said “C.J. is the best guy ever. He taught me a few moves to try at tryouts later this year. Go Liberty! Go CJ!” Sonjack ruffled the kid’s hair. Jaden’s parents called him over. They handed him an envelope, which Jaden promptly opened. “Wow! Box seats for the Liberty Game against the Hawks!” Sonjack just winked and said, “we will see you at the game, kid!” The party continued to rage on, and Sonjack made his departure, knowing that he gave the young fan a day he won’t soon forget. RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - Sebster - 06-04-2021 Oh look I get to talk about my own team here. All throughout the offseason we heard it. “SJS ain’t about this, SJS ain’t about that.” Well guess what mufuckas we are about it. Currently sitting at 4-2 and tied for 3rd in the league, we have a big game this week against the stinky heads over in Austin. The success of the team can really be attributed to a stout, but not great defense paired with a top tier passing attack in the league. Monty Jack is 2nd in the league in passing yards, behind only his brother Colby. This has given us the best passing offense in the conference and the second best in the league as a whole. On the other hand, I think Honolulu still has a chance to bounce back. I think this, purely because they are 0-6 and it would be significantly harder for them to finish the season without a win than it would to luck into a win. Out of their six losses, they have only lost 3 of them by more than one possession, with the other 3 coming at a margin of 7 points, 3 points, and 2 points. This gives me hope for the good folks out in Honolulu to string together a win or two before the season ends. However, I am surprised to see them so close to the top of the standings in the ASFC right now, as on paper at least they do not have the team depth to really compete over a full season. The quantitative metrics we have access to do indicate that the players they do have are strong and capable of carrying a team to the playoffs, but as a whole the team is lacking in quality compared to most of the remaining teams around the league. They also don't really believe in human O-linemen so phooey on them. On the other hand, my current team the Butchers has been very much underperforming so far this season. We did not expect to be 1-5 at this point, that's for dang sure. Certainly some of our players are getting older and the team is more about a quantity of good players instead of a core of great ones, but with the best o-line in the business you'd think we could at least protect our QB or open up enough holes for the RB duo of Yoda and Hayes. A couple of 3 point losses have definitely contributed, but a good team like ours just needs to be winning those games. RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - Fronk - 06-04-2021 The DSFL season is heating up and there have been surprises, but also some things that were not so surprising. One thing that is not a surprise is how good the Minnesota Grey Ducks have looked so far. Returning almost a complete team stocked with capped positions, the offense and defense has the weapons to make any game close. Another not-so-surprise is the DSFL North picking up where the conference left off last year. If the playoff seeding went by winning percentage, 3/4ths of the Ultimini Tournament would have been made up of teams from the North. This year they pick right back up with the Grey Ducks, Coyotes, and Royals all having better records than the top teams in the South Conference. Heck, even the last place North team has just as good of a record as Dallas and Tijuana. Let’s go back to Grey Duck surprises. Four games in and the opposing teams have put up THIRTY THREE points against that stonewall of a defense. Offenses should be nervous! And then on the offensive side of the ball, the Grey Ducks have figured out how to click with the most complete package of skill position players that the league has seen. Word Count: 204 |
