(S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - ralz9 - 09-10-2017

For my player, this offseason was all about working on refining my game and becoming a pro ready quarterback. With my athleticism being my main attribute as a college athlete at North Carolina State University, I knew I needed to become less raw. That meant focusing on my accuracy and arm strength so that when I can extend a play with my legs I can still hit home runs downfield throwing rather than avoiding a sack just to throw out of bounds or settle for a short run. I want to work on my endurance, too, because I know that the pro game is far more quick-paced than what I experienced in college ball. As far as who I've worked with, I've been staying in Raleigh to work with the plethora of other NC State quarterbacks that have played pro ball like Philip Rivers, Jacoby Brissett, Mike Glennon and Russell Wilson. Being able to pick their brains about reading defenses and even the little things about being a pro athlete off the field has made me a much more pro-ready player. Wolfpack family is forever! I'm really hoping that I can develop my IQ as I play in the DSFL, because no position on the field requires more knowledge of the game than QB, in my opinion.

What did your player do this off season to prepare for the upcoming NSFL or DSFL season?

You know what Jaquan did to prepare for this season? Put in WORK. He fought a fricken bear the size of a T-Rex and had tai kwan do lessons with elite ninjas in Scandinavia. With this new technique of extraordinary training that Jaquan did he prepared himself for the task of being sent down to the DSFL. There he will show the world his might of his 6'6" frame and stock build, where he will terrorize the league and bring hopelessness to his enemies. With the season in full effect soon he has been working out for 27 hours a day, (yes, he can because it's Jaquan obviously.) With those 27 hours day he has since show that he can be an active contributor to the Yetis and their mighty team as we look forward to completing the task of winning the title this coming season. With his terrifying all around receiver game and his ability to be a hybrid receiver, they might as well triple team him in coverage as he easily gets touchdown after touchdown without fail. Though these on field accomplishments seem insane and crazy to think about, he is really over exaggerating the pickup game he had with elementary schoolers.

Bailey Cook has had a crazy offseason. His main goal has been to do one thing: become a better runner. He had the hands to make plays downfield, but as the game tape shows, he did not always have the adequate speed and elusiveness to make corners and linebackers miss. He was always good for catches, but he wanted to improve his likelihood of having yards after the catch.

He was focused on the stamina building from running around the team track, and building his raw speed bursts from interval training on the treadmill. This level of work, combined with his unflappable diligence has allowed him to greatly improve in both these categories. Scouts of the Yellowknife Wraiths say he has looked like a brand new player in camp, combining his always sure hands with a new found capability of burning defenders. Seeing the newly revamped Bailey Cook alongside the already quick Josh Garden will be a breath of fresh air for Yellowknife fans.

On the non-football side, he has been focused on his family, most of whom live in Florida. In the wake of the recent hurricane, he has paid to move them up to Canada, where the receiver currently makes his home due to NSFL commitments. He said, family always comes first, and that's why he had to make sure they were safe before he could continue with his training regimen.

Book Worm. Not what you would expect from a 6'0", 210 lb, rookie NSFL safety, who earned the nickname ""The Stampede", on the field. But this man has spent most of his time after his final college year, in the film room, studying how the pros move and how the speed of the game changes. Always ready to prepare for the next level.
Sun Tzu once said "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."
Vash takes this to heart, growing up in the rural farmlands, meals from the farm to the table, with a mother who was a nutritionist. Vash grew up knowing all about his body and how to take care of it, he made sure to know his opponent equally as well.
Taking the offseason to a unique place, Vash decided to work with some offseason and retired coaches to review make makes the pros great and how to make adjustments and prepare for what he is to see. This all takes place aside from his strength and conditioning during the days.
Vash hopes to enter the league as a physical rookie, but with the defensive mindset of a wiley veteran.

I've honestly been bored during the off-season, there's not too much that actually happens and for me, my life is the same as last season. I'm a champion and on top of the world, I have to keep working to win it all again though. I'm trying to get bigger, faster, stronger, and smarter, just like every other player in the league. I think that I improved slightly during the off-season, but its hard to go up from the top. I know that every wants my spot, so I'd say my biggest goal is to just fight them all off and stay all the way up here. I think that as far as the team goes, we have done a good job of getting better and addressing our needs. We got some secondary and DLine help, as well as OL help. We were already in a good position, but it always can get better. The management has done a good job of getting us prepared to go back into battle. Our front 7 is the strongest in the NSFL, easily. With that we have a capable offense and secondary. I just want the season to start again so we can go out and show what the hype is all about.

John Canton worked out for the entire offseason. He went out and found any and every WR willing to work with him so he could improve his coverage and become faster than ever before. Canton is unofficially the fastest corner in the league, and is on pace to be even faster by the time the season opener hits. Canton is looking to continue to build his resume after his pro bowl caliber season. I believe with his new partner in crime, Benson Bailey, he is going to be part of one of the scariest CB duos in the league, and a key member of one of the better secondaries in the league.

In his down time, and with the help of celebrity girlfriend Carrie Underwood, Canton has used some of his NSFL money to found SaberCast Media Productions, an NSFL themed media conglomerate. Their SaberCast Studios, an up and coming episodic podcast studio, has hired host Sweetwater to recap the team and the league. Thanks to Canton's connections, Sweetwater has already scored interviews with the creators of the Trading Cards, the Simmer, and the League Owner himself. Canton has deemed this a lucrative investment and looks to see dividends return very soon.

Omar Wright is known for one thing: speed. Despite being weak as an arthritic old man, as dumb as a bag of rocks and poisoning hands made almost entirely out of butter, Wright has managed to maintain his high status as an elite NSFL running back through pure speed. This is soon to change, however. Reporters were informed that Wright was displeased by his lack of long yardage carries, a hallmark of his season one career in Orange County, where he set the record for longest run four times over. Wright has informed reporters that while he believes his speed is good enough to make these long plays, his strength is what is holding him back. Wright attests that he is unable to break tackles close to the line of scrimmage, resulting in him being brought down before he can sprint off into the open field. This season Wright has been working extensively with weights and other strength training techniques to insure his ability to break tackles which will in turn allow him to break off into open field and make the long yardage plays that he was known as in the past. This will also make Wright a much more improved north-south runner, as he will be able to more effectively penetrate the middle of the field rather than having to run around defenders. In a team situation where there is no strong running back to give goal line touches like there was in OC, improving as a downhill rusher will greatly add to Philly's sole running backs arsenal.

Prepare??? Offseason?? There is no offseason for Mat Akselsen! While everyone else is lounging around in the backyards barbequing or flying to exotic locations and banging all the broads they can find, I'm in the United States working hard on my game!

I went out to the woods of Wisconson and bought a log cabin, JUST OFF THE HIGHWAY. Me and my little brother, Brat Akselsen, are working on our strength and conditioning and hand technique. I'm ready to shred the league this year. We do all kinds of things, log pulls, marching in the snow. I shipped the snow in from Yellowknife in the summer. Yea I'm ballsy, what about it?

I also work part time as an Uber driver back in my hometown of Fertile. It keeps me super fucking humble, unlike that uppity piece of shit Jayce Tuck. Fucking pretty boy. I'm gonna smoke him this year too. Easy peasy dude, I've pulled logs, driven drunks from the bar home, and ate my momma's apple pie and chicken pot pie. Pie is for winners! All that chicken, all those carbs make me a growing boy ready to stonewall the NSFLs best pass rushers. I'm a beast and no one is gonna be able to fight me. It's gonna be an awakening this season.

What did QB Chris Orosz do to get ready for Season 3?

He recovered, He noticed that ever since week 11 of last season, that his passes weren't having the same zip that they normally did, and that whereas before, he could throw over 40 times and be ok, he was starting to become tired at the 25-30 mark, and it was becoming worse as time went on. the team finished the last 4 weeks of the season 2-2, costing them a home playoff game. In the playoffs, Chris had one of his worst games as a Pro, 12/25 for 113, a TD and INT as the Wraiths fell 14-16. As soon as he got back to Yellowknife, he updated the training staff and they took an MRI, and confirmed that something was indeed off. They sent him to Dr. James Andrews who confirmed that his Rotator cuff on his throwing arm was just this side of torn, with only a shred holding it together. Surgery was planned, performed, and finished within the span of a couple of days. Rehab went swimmingly, with it seeming like he had never had the surgery at all. However it remains to be seen that once the pads come on how the cuff will hold up to the punishment of being a NSFL Quarterback.
