(S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - Oles - 08-27-2018 Requirements Written: Must include 200 words. Write about one of the new players on your team, or how you are handling moving to a new team if you are new to the team. You can write about anything along this topic, as long as it reaches 200 words. Graphic: Create a sig for the player, whether it's a sig for yourself with your new team or a sig for a player who has joined your team through free agency, the draft, or a trade. Include the render for the player, the logo of the team that was joined, and one other detail of your choosing. Do not claim this TPE until a post is made in the claim thread. Note: As per the most recent announcement our buddies over at SHL have also allowed PT linking. This is as simple as it was before, link your PT to their PT for credit in both, or link your PT post from there to here and get credit for completion. PBE PT linking is still around and with every league working together on this now 1 PT can get you a completion in all 3 leagues. There has never been a better time to join the other leagues and still earn everywhere. Deadline Sunday, September 2nd, 11:59 PM PST (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - Oles - 08-27-2018 D’Pez Poopsie wasn’t exactly happy with Kazimir Oles on draft night. When Oles pulled the stunt that he would not play for SaberCats, one of the first people to message him was Poopsie, and he didn’t keep it private either. Before it was known that it was all a ruse Poopsie was not happy that Oles and had some harsh words for the newest Oles on the block. He also took it to social media and well there was a rift in the locker room before the team even started playing together. Once Oles held his media meeting, cleared the air and made it known that it was just for fun, Poopsie was a bit nicer, but to me at least I think he still holds a bit of a grudge because of the joke at the expense of the SaberCats. Now that they’ve actually had to train together the tension has died down, with everyone committed to making the team better the two are seeing eye to eye, and with Poopsie’s position switch to CB they are meeting on the practice field a bit more than they would have normally. The team has come together to hopefully reach the promised land, but with a lot of young guys it’s going to take a while. (215 words) (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - infinitempg - 08-27-2018 The Colorado Yeti are looking to make a run for the Ultimus title this year, and in doing so have executed a ton of trades to get aging vets into the locker room. One such league veteran is the former Second Line/Legion and Sabercat cornerback Terrell Brister. Brister is entering his final season in the league and has already announced that he will retire at the end of the year, but his experience and skillset are still useful for a struggling Yeti secondary full of draft busts. Bringing in Brister will bring much needed help for one of the best corners in the game, Andre Bly. The greatest irony in the Terrell Brister trade, however, is the fact that Brister has long been an outspoken critic of the Colorado Yeti. Through the Greatest Losing Streak of All Time™, Brister poked fun at the team as his Second Line made much quicker improvements and made the playoffs a year earlier despite starting in more dire circumstances. Even with this, the Yeti decided to bring him to Denver hoping that he would help bring them a championship. This also marks a huge shift in management styles from ousted GM MemeMaestro, who famously claimed that the Yeti did not want future MVP Darren Smallwood due to the outstanding criticism of the team. Will it pay off? Who knows (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - Trautner - 08-27-2018 After a solid season in the DSFL with the Kansas City Coyotes, Danny Grithead is off to greener pastures. Well, orange pastures more accurately. Immediately after being drafted by the Otters in the first round, Grithead hopped into his luxury F-150 and drove straight to southern California to the team facilities. You've got to admire the determination and desire for this guy to show up to training camp literally as soon as possible. Tegan Atwell, the former Otter now moving to Yellowknife, had made a pretty petty comment during the draft as a commentator, exclaiming "who?" after Grithead's name was announced as the 6th pick. So as soon as Grithead got to the Otters facility he started yelling his own name while doing some burpees. Grithead's new teammates were stunned and had to separate the rookie from the departing veteran. So it was definitely a memorable first impression. The very next day, the Otters GM called Grithead into his office. Fearing the worst, maybe a practice suspension, Grithead walked solemnly in. But it turns out the Otters GM wanted to try and line Grithead out on defense as a safety. Grithead immediately accepted the position and then went straight to the bench press to train himself for this new task. We'll see if he can make the transition fast enough before the season. Code: 223 words (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - ItsJustBarry - 08-27-2018 Baltimore concluded the S10 draft by taking safeties in consecutive 2nd round picks. With their defense declining rapidly, they drafted while looking towards the future. Their optimism that their offense can be competitive for at least another couple seasons left them the ability to draft a pure position of need times two. First up, we have Steven Oats out of Penn State. Being Hawks General Manager’s alma mater, it’s no surprise Oats was high on the draft board. While he didn’t flash exceptional speed at the combine, his punishing hitting power was stunning to watch. Although he’ll need some time to develop and catch up to the speed of the NSFL game, He’s a bright spot in the future of Baltimore. Next up, the pick that had the majority of experts scratching their heads. Out of Michigan, safety Damien Arnold. Unlike most, I had Arnold 3rd on my draft board for defensive backs. I was excited to see he was still available late in the 2nd round and Baltimore was afforded the opportunity to draft a skill player while also filling a position of need. With Baltimore’s secondary aging rapidly, I would expect to see Arnold step up in a big way soon. It's an adjustment for Becker because it's not as hot as the southern part of California. So far getting used to Portland has been different. The city is vastly different from the Los Angeles lifestyle that I've been used to growing up. Portland is very hipster and has a lot of water holes where the adults grab their "adult sodas". That being said, the football fanbase so far seems very very into it and it's good to be in such a passionate football city. I know that Oregon is a huge football state so I wasn't really surprised by that. I'm still getting to know my team and so far every single one of them has been fantastic and they all seem to share a similar sense of humour with myself. The management seems to be very open to talk and they seem to have their heads on straight which is refreshing. I'm looking forward to getting to know the facilities and hanging out in the gym post practice. I heard Portland is a strange city to be at night so I guess I will have to get a tour from one of the veterans here. (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - mckee29 - 08-28-2018 It's been less then twenty four hours and rookie sensation and running back phenom Antonio Summer is already having an easy time getting back into the groove of things after returning to the Portland Pythons with the ninth overall pick in tonight's entry draft. Summer met with the team's general managers to discuss contracts immediately following the draft and our sources say that both the Pythons and Summer's agent have come away from the talks with exactly what they wanted. Summer is a great athlete and an awesome locker room presence, so it's no surprise that he isn't having any difficulties becoming a team player. Summer is accompanied by one of the greatest draft classes in Pythons history including players such as wide receiver Sunnycursed (5th Overall) and corner back Marc Spector (7th Overall) in what will certainly go down as one of the most outstanding groups of players for Portland. These three players are especially bright talents on this roster, and with the other added key pieces on the team they are primed to have a dominant run at the league championship once again, and hopefully repeat their performance in the finals. With quarterback Joliet L. Christ returning to the team, the sky is the limit. |
