*Ryan Cobalt - NSFL Mock Draft (S11) - Tinkler - 10-10-2018 In case you somehow don't already know, the NSFL draft is inching closer and closer. There are a ton of good prospects in this class that will someday change the NSFL, but for now everyone has the exact same chance of success. As for me, I feel that I will probably not be a first round draft pick just because other people have been more vocal around the league, but I know that I will probably land higher than my position in the first draft I took part in where I went at #25. I have been a solid earner and I'm currently sitting at 230 TPE before equipment and all that so I'm in a very good position to be an absolute steal for some team. I think my personal goal for myself is that I went in the Top 10, which too me is totally atainable since I was in the Top 10 for TPE earners. I also have a job as a PT Team Member and I have written a few articles and check in every once in a while on Discord, so all in all I have been a pretty active member of the league. Anyways, I wanted to write an article about my mock draft prediction leading up to the draft on Friday, and just mention why I chose each player in each position (since I am not a cheater and didn't copy someone else's). Anyways, here we go. 1st Overall - Alex Selich - LB - ![]() I chose Alex Selich at first overall for a couple of reasons, but mostly because he was the most consistent TPE earner over the course of the season and if I'm correct I don't think he missed a single opportunity from when he signed up. I have heard that there is some concerns about the fact that he went inactive on his last player but I also heard that it was because he got sick or hit by a bus and was in the hospital (don't remember at all lmao). Either way, he's been super huge in the league and I see him in the Discord pretty often plus he posts around on the forums. I think that he will also be a great fit into the Liberty locker room where they are probably looking for linebackers since they have a solid foundation in place in their offensive group but no so much on the defensive side of the ball. 2nd Overall - Antonio Summer - RB - ![]() I hate to admit it, but Nick has done a bang-on job of making a player out of Summer. At first we both kind of took this league as a joke, and later turned it into a competition, but now we both really enjoy it and are having a lot of fun developing the character arc of Summer and Cobalt's rivalry and I think that's going to be a major part of careers for a long time which is why we made sure in our conversations with teams that we notified them we don't want to play on the same team (yet, that is). On the note of why I find him going second overall though, it's for a multitude of reasons. Through the process of this draft we have talked about who has contacted us and what they've been saying, and obviously with Summer leading the class in TPE I expect him to go high. He told Philly he didn't want to play for them (they also have Brown anyways so it doesn't matter) which brings us to the next team which is Arizona who he said he had a good conversation with. With their current running back retiring, this is the perfect place for him to slot in. 3rd Overall - Sunnycursed - WR - ![]() Now we get into some picks that I had to do a little more research in order to talk about. Sunnycursed comes from the user Adwyer87 who's last player was King Bronko, the quarterback for the Outlaws before Fitzpatrick took over. If I am correct he also was their GM according to the history sections of the site. For this reason, I'm sure that after selecting Summer (or right before, these picks are interchangable) they will land their legacy player in Sunnycursed. With Viggo Squanch and Balthazar Crindy as the current options on offense for receptions, adding in another wide receiver will be massive and will complete one of the most dynamic offenses in the league as they also put Summer into the roster next season. This is by far the best way to go for this team, and I think anyone who has looked at this draft can agree with me on this front. 4th Overall - Andrew Reese - DE - ![]() Andrew Reese started out the season as a quarterback for the Kansas City Coyotes, but after they were knocked out of playoff contention in the final simulation of the season he made the switch over to the defensive line where he will look to play a role on the other side of the ball. His previous player Eric Kennedy was a member of the Yellowknife Wraiths before him, and is currently (?) the GM of the team which means that he will most certainly be selected by the team heading into the draft. Not only is he a legacy player, but Reese is an awesome earner and is it a position of need for the young Wraiths team who will be heading into the end of their rebuild soon. Reese could just be the player that sets them over the edge and back into contention, especially with the recent drop in talent from the Yeti roster. 5th Overall - Kwame Mbanefo - DE - ![]() You can probably see by now that this is a draft class with a ton of strong defensive prospects, and Mbanefo definitely does not break the mold. Rabidsponge's last player was Iyah Blewitt who played his career between the San Jose Sabercats and the New Orleans Second Line. He was a great member of the community, and it's exciting to see that he's back in the league with Mbanefo who has been an amazing earner and was a great part of the Pythons success this season. If he keeps up, he'll be one of the premier defensive line players in the entire league in a few seasons time, and there's really nothing stopping him. You might notice that he slowed down his progression a little bit towards the end of the season if you look at Nick's (v3) TPE article, but I don't think that's of any worry for the Otters. 6th Overall - Lennox Garnett - S - ![]() We happen to continue the trend of great legacy player going back to their old teams with Garnett, who was once a member of the Baltimore Hawks as Antoine Delacour. As his last player was a safety, a whole spray of knowledge about how to build the position comes about and you be left assured that Garnett will be the top safety in this draft class (including above me). Not to mention the fact that he's an absolute stud at earning TPE and is the head of the history project in this league, the Hawks will be retaining a very strong member of their team who I'm sure must be a great locker room presence as well. I think that if it wasn't for team needs and previous legacy picks that Garnett would be much higher on this list. 7th Overall - K.J Becker - LB - ![]() Hey would you look at that, another player who is a legacy member of the team that is selecting. I don't wan't to say this is a selection that is based upon the team and not the player, because it certainly isn't, but I find it kind of annoying that there have been more legacy picks (or projected at least) then not in this draft, but from the atmosphere I've gotten about this draft people's connections are way more important than their actual activity and production. Anyways, Becker is an awesome talent and a great prospect who I respect the hell out of. His last player was a stud receiver for a number of teams including the Second Line and will probably retire a Hall of Famer. Not to mention he posts a ton and makes great graphics, this is an awesome pick up for New Orleans. 8th Overall - Dan Schneider - S - ![]() Other than Nick, this is our only first generation player of the draft, but even then he's not new to sim leagues at all. LGMForever is a member of the PBE and I'm pretty sure he's actually a GM there and he was a part of the Pythons this season. He might also be in the SHL and stuff but I don't know. What I do know is that he has been super active around the league and that he's at a position of need across the league. I think the Hawks will select him alongside Garnett to make a dynamic safety tandem that will run the league for years in the future. Both of these guys are so great and I think that it's out of the picture for someone else to be taken with this pick for any reason other than the Hawks positional need. So there you have it. I felt that it would be a good idea for an article to explain in some detail as to what my reasoning behind my mock draft was. Like I said before, these are all people that I rank higher than myself but I respect the hell out of them and I look forward to seeing where their careers take them. We have a ton of potential superstars in this draft class from start to finish and there are some awesome guys that will fall into the second round and even further. Don't be surprised when you see me get passed over a ton on draft day, but I hold no grudges against GM's until the picks from the second round start falling cause that's where I see my value. So yeah GM's, go ahead and burn that first. But if you think for a second that you can get away with skipping out on me in the second round, then I'll give you a proper Cobalt reaction and flip my shit or something. I'm kidding, but you gotta stay in character hehe. *Ryan Cobalt - NSFL Mock Draft (S11) - mckee29 - 10-10-2018 The rivalry continues ![]() *Ryan Cobalt - NSFL Mock Draft (S11) - Tomen - 10-10-2018 (10-10-2018, 08:03 AM)Tinkler Wrote:1st Overall - Alex Selich - LB - Was ran over by a car while on my bike so you got close ![]() *Ryan Cobalt - NSFL Mock Draft (S11) - White Cornerback - 10-10-2018 Swagsloth actually stepped down from YKW GM about 2-3 seasons ago. Between that and only having 2 LBs, both inactive and low TPE, defense was far and away what we talked about most in preparing for the draft. Obviously, I can't say what we did, but our plan, which I shared with non war-room members prior to the pre-draft, was to wait on offense, which was less dire and deeper in talent, and focus heavily on defense. When even the QB agrees D is more important than offense in the upcoming draft, the priority is pretty clear. Fortunately, there was some solid defense available at all levels, and we had good picks from our SJS trade. *Ryan Cobalt - NSFL Mock Draft (S11) - SwagSloth - 10-10-2018 (10-10-2018, 01:42 PM)kckolbe Wrote:All of last season's DL either auto-retired this offseason or will auto-retire in the next few seasons.
