*MP's S11 Preseason Power Rankings - Molarpistols - 10-16-2018
Quarterbacking equipment is expensive and the trust fund set up for my player, Gus T.T. Showbiz is quickly drying up. (Damn you Ian Bavitz for not making more money!) Now I have to write some media and I'll do my set of power rankings as a start! Without further ado:
1. Baltimore Hawks
Everybody knows, the Hawks won the Ultimus last season, and for good reason. Baltimore has strong offensive weapons and a stout enough defense to get the job done. The power gap between the top two teams and the rest of the league is steadily declining, thanks to regression, but the Hawks have done enough to remain the top dogs until proven otherwise. The free agent addition of Ryan Applehort at QB will prove to be effective. He comes in and takes over for the aging Avon Blocksdale to extend the Hawks contention window, and allows Blocksdale to move and sure up a spot on defense. This team is dangerous, and stands a good chance at repeating as champions.
2. New Orleans Second Line
Last years' runner up is still in strong position to take it all, after winning the Ultimus in season 9, the Second Line returned to the championship again last season, falling to the Hawks. Much of the team returns, with QB Borkus Maximus III still in the prime of his career, but nearing some dropoff. Vladimir Fyodorovich swapping from CB to WR may prove to be the move needed to keep NOLA in contention with their strong offense. The move may also reinvigorate Fyodorovich as he was unhappy with his stats at CB. NOLA still remains as kings of the ASFC, but regression is a fickle mistress. The gap below them is most definitely closing and the other teams are nearing completion of their rebuild/reloads.
3. Orange County Otters
The Orange County Otters look primed to continue their perennial playoff appearance streak, though it's not a guarantee these days with strengthening division competition. Getting Tegan Atwell and Carlito Crush back will push this team back to the offensive powerhouse it once was. Gus T.T. Showbiz has another season under his belt, and he should be much more effective as a passer, and hopefully take less sacks. The additions of Rickey Ramero and Norman Bagwell should help the defense immensely, as they try to cycle more pieces after losing long-time CB Marc Spector. OCO added his clone, but the dropoff in the defensive backfield could be steep from last year as the young guns acclimate to the grueling NSFL competition.
4. Arizona Outlaws
Arizona's rebuild is nearing completion. Under the steady leadership of Run-cmc, the Outlaws have been building well through the draft and adding a few free agent pieces to fill gaping holes in the roster. The emergence of QB Kevin Fitzpatrick will go a long way in helping the Outlaws win. His offensive weapons are also nearing the elite level, but another season of gains may be needed before they get to the level of firepower the top two teams in the conference have. The defense remains solid, with a steady mix of veterans throughout the defense, and young stars ready to build into a shut-down defense. Look for this team to challenge for playoffs in the near future.
5. Colorado Yeti
The rankings get pretty murky from here, with the last 4 teams having a strong mix of young talent that may or may not come to fruition. The loss of QB Ryan Applehort hurts, but Micycle McCormick should prove to be a solid replacement. Howard Miller remains a dangerous threat to any defense, and the team shouldn't struggle too much to put up points. The promising playoff contender of the last couple years could surprise us and dodge the potholes of this past offseason, but I expect a small step back. The Yeti could very well make the playoffs again this season, but they've started selling off some important pieces to begin rebuilding through the draft again.
6. Philadelphia Liberty
Of the four, the Liberty look like they could be the strongest, but I'll give it to Yeti for now with the stronger QB. Falconi is starting to shape into a solid QB, the likes of Fitzpatrick and Showbiz last season. She's unlikely to straight up win games herself at this point, but she won't be a detriment like many younger QBs are. Carter Bush returning to the lineup gives her a solid target, and the other young offensive weapons are coming into their own. The team is still at least a season from true contention, but they could steal a few wins off of some unsuspecting foes. Perhaps even enough to sneak into the playoffs of the weakened NSFC.
7. Yellowknife Wraiths
The once strong powerhouse should struggle mightily this year. An exodus of offensive talent leaves QB Brad Pennington with few reliable options and the team may struggle to put up points. The defense should be good enough to keep the team in games, but it'll be a struggle as star CB Dermot Lavelle ages and loses some effectiveness. He'll still be strong, but the clock is ticking and Yellowknife can't rely on him much longer. This team needs to string a couple solid drafts together and get an influx of talent. Longtime GM Bzerkap has the chops to right the ship.
8. San Jose Sabercats
I very nearly gave this team the nod ahead of Yellowknife, but deferred to the more experienced QB, as it's the most important position on the field. San Jose has had a couple solid drafts in a roe, and the young talent should start gelling soon. The duo of season 10 offensive rookies Kazimir Oles and Joliet Christ are building cohesion and should give opposing defenses fits in a couple years. If their picks continue panning out, we could see the Sabercats be a very good team in a few seasons.
The DDSPF Sim Gods can be very chaotic, so there could be massive changes to these rankings down the road. With preseason about to start and the regular season on the horizon the waters will be less murky in a few weeks. Can't wait for the new season!

For the record, mine was in order of worst to least.
I was really surprised at your assessment of the bottom 4, especially Colorado. Philadelphia over Yellowknife I definitely understand, since that was a tough call for me as well.

Haha, I had to throw the shot since somebody said that in your article. Bottom 4 was really hard, I'd be surprised if there was more than a 2-win spread between all 4 of them (as in not that they all get 2 wins, but they'll all be within 2 wins of each other).
I placed YKW so low because their highest TPE offensive weapon aside from QB is actually a CB (Dermot will likely have to play WR). Aside from that they have an RB and TE nearing 600 tpe, and 250ish pieces beyond that
For Yeti, Applehort -> McCormick isn't a huge dropoff, and they still have decent weapons (especially Miller). This ranking is based solely for this season, I expect a minor implosion from the Yeti after this.

I agree with how close they are and I completely understand with YKW.
For Yeti, it's not the offense that concerns me. As I said in my NON RANKINGS, I think this is the best offense they've had. Their defense, however, is going to be famously bad, worthy of a spot on @manicmav36's worst all time performances.

That's fair, the way I saw it was that most DL's on teams are basically low TPE IAs, so the dropoff to a bot is big, but I think a little less big than one would think. I suspect Miller will be a 2-way player, as WRs can make passable CBs in a pinch with their speed. Aaron would be less effective used similarly, but would free up one of the DBs to play LB, leaving just the DL bot players.
It certainly won't be pretty, but there's enough other offenses in the league that are still young and building that Yeti could pull off some wins, despite their defense.

I know that Sandoval has been used as an LB before, idk if they will do that again tho
