*Cox Selected with 32nd Pick - duckberg - 12-04-2018 Dec. 04. 2018 Pecker Cox sat in his apartment in Philadelphia watching the draft, surrounded by his friends and family. He knew with how late he had entered that he would not be invited to the draft, but watching it from home was torture. Every commercial break had him pacing the floors until whatever Tide ad that was on TV was finally finished. He didn’t know much about the NSFL; he just knew he wanted to play football. Round 1 went by. He didn’t expect to hear his name called, but that little voice of eternal optimism inside his head let out a disappointed sigh as it crept away. He would not be a first round pick, and that was ok. He had heard rumors that it was a very deep draft, and the commentators had mentioned the same multiple times in the first round. Where would he end up? Would anyone even take a chance on him? He knew he hadn’t shown up to some of the draft tryout events, but that was simply because he was unaware of them. His friends tried to keep his hopes up, reminding him that he would just have to play with a chip on his shoulder now. Round 2 came and went and again he didn’t hear his name. Strangely, he noticed, that there hadn’t been another defensive tackle taken in the draft since the very first pick. He looked into the draft scouting and found that there were only four defensive tackles going into the draft, and he was the lowest ranked before the draft. His heart sank. He knew he was better than what those rankings showed, and he just needed a chance to show it. Round 3 came, and much of the same. His name was not called, and no defensive tackles were taken. He thought back to the past couple weeks where he had been contacted by some of the GM’s and they seemed, at the very least, borderline interested in taking a flyer on this new player. Did he mess up the interviews? Did missing some of the training opportunities ruin his chances at a career in the NSFL? His mind began to race, and his stomach groaned. Round 4 came, and at pick number 29 a defensive tackles’ name was finally announced. Sam Garrad would be playing in the NSFL for the Colorado Yeti. There were only two defensive tackles left. His stomach dropped and he couldn’t take standing in front of the television pacing anymore. He had to step out and take a break. So he left, he walked to the corner store to pick up a sandwich. He ordered a couple sandwiches for his friends and rang up at the counter. It came to $32.32. As he walked back he looked at his phone and saw that he had 32 missed phone calls, the first of which from a number he did not recognize, 867-333-3232. What a weird area code. He listened to the first voicemail, his anticipation ready to burst: Hey there Pecker, this is Daybe , owner and general manager of the Yellowknife Wraiths, eh. I am calling you to let you know myself that we are excited to be taking you in the fourth round, and the thirty second. We had to make multiple trades to get into place to grab you here and we couldn’t not be happier with our selection, don’t ya know. Pecker was in a daze. He screamed in a fit of joy in the middle of the street. He rushed back to his apartment and was smothered by everyone, both excited for him, and yelling at him for missing his selection. Something was eating at the back of his mind, though. The number and the way the Mr. Daybe talked gave him an itch he had to scratch. “Google, where is Yellowknife?..... What the…..” Pecker Cox is currently on his way to the capital, and only city in the Northwest territories of Canada. He is currently in first class, seat 32. He believes that number is going to hold great significance to him for his career. *Cox Selected with 32nd Pick - PDXBaller - 12-04-2018 The Number 32 Starring Pecker Cox *Cox Selected with 32nd Pick - AsylumParty - 12-04-2018 This feels a lot like a commercial for Google Assistant *Cox Selected with 32nd Pick - duckberg - 12-04-2018 (12-04-2018, 06:17 PM)AsylumParty Wrote:This feels a lot like a commercial for Google AssistantMaybe it is O.O *Cox Selected with 32nd Pick - Daybe - 12-05-2018 hope you like cold weather ![]() |
