*Roman Stakowski Press Conference Summary - Shrodawg - 12-04-2018 The following is a summary of the recent Roman Stakowski post NSFL draft press conference. Sim Sports Reporter, Paul Woodson: How do you think the draft went for you, having been selected at 27th overall in the 4th round? For real though...it’s frustrating to say the least. I thought I had a chance to go in the late 2nd or 3rd round. People can ponder and speculate all they want, but at the end of the day let’s look at the numbers. According to the best available list, I was considered the 17th best player. Men lie and women lie, but numbers don’t lie. I had 23 pancakes and 0 sacks allowed! The next best Tight Ends were Pitcher and Moore and both of those guys had 1 sack given up each with only a bit more in blocks than me. These guys even had a whole season on me to develop their blocking skills! Do you want to know what kind of impact that makes on a team’s offensive line? The Pythons had the most pancakes at 272 and only 4 sacks allowed in the regular season! Our blocking was the best the DSFL had ever seen and I know I was a big part of that. It’s frustrating to know what kind of skillset you can bring to any team, whether it be pass first or run focused, and seeing yourself get passed over and over. NSFL Network Reporter, Raymond Howser: Are you surprised that you weren’t selected sooner? Hell yeah Raymond! I can’t believe so many guys got picked over me when I was clearly the best available for so many rounds. I’m especially irritated that a guy who comes into the league with so little training can be considered a better Tight End prospect than me. You know who I’m talking about. His dad had a pretty bad history with the league and is the running joke forever now. Jorel Tuck only got picked over me because of his pedigree, despite me having worked harder over the season. Talk about being a ‘legacy’ player. Gridiron News Reporter, Carrey Holloway: Which NSFL Teams reached out to you about the prospect of playing for them? How do you think your interviews went? The teams that reached out to me where San Jose, Baltimore, Orange County, and Arizona. I don’t think I interviewed well enough for most of them because I got sick of answering the same goddamn questions over and over. These guys don’t know what they’re looking for or even take the time to learn about the players. Look, I get it. You have lots of guys to talk to and only so much time after the Ultimus is over, but come on man! Put some more personalization and feeling into it! The only team that reached out on a personal level was Arizona. It was actually their quarterback who called me on the phone after the interviews to check in to see how I was doing. I think that small gesture spoke volumes about their organization and even though I dropped lower than I should have, I’m excited that Arizona was able to pick me up eventually. This is the team that actually cared about me during the scouting process. The Oregon Press Sports Reporter, Andrew McPherson: Shifting gears a bit, can you talk about your experience with the Portland Pythons and your historic 13-1 Ultimini winning season? I don’t think I can put it into words, but I’ll try since it was such a historic moment for us. It meant a lot to the guys, the front office, and the organization to win this one and beating the Tijuana Luchadores was a big accomplishment itself since they were 3 time champions in the DSFL. I couldn’t believe how good our defense was and guys like Charlie Trout, Logan Lejune, Axel Hornbacher, and Dan Schneider were beasts on the field. They locked every team down and gave us guys on the offense a chance to win. I was really happy to play on such a gifted offense too. Cox III is a phenomenal quarterback and he even though he made some bad decisions during games, he never quit. This guy had the will to win and guys like Errol Maddox, Sunnycursed, Sam Hardwick, and our 2 headed runningback attack (Shady + Smallwood-Chess) felt confident every snap. We played our hearts out and winning the Ultimini in dominant fashion showed that to the world. The front office drafted and put together an amazing team so they get major props for that. Outlawz Edge (The UnOfficial Arizona Outlaws Fan Club Site), Jay Morrison: How does it feel to become a member of the Arizona Outlaws? I think it’s a great organization to be a part of and like I said before, these were the only guys that seemed to care about letting me play a blocking role. I don’t know if I’ll stay in the DSFL for another season, but it sounds like I might since they are going to call up Moore and Crindy is a great starter for them right now. I’m happy to be joining a team that’s up and coming in the ASFC and hopefully we can bring the Outlaws back to the top (for real this time). Go ![]() |
