Biggest Stories Coming Out of the Preseason - jparks98 - 06-08-2017

After a long couple of weeks, the inaugural NSFL season is about to be underway. Who are the contenders and pretenders? Who will become franchise players and who will be a bust? Luckily the preseason is underway and it gives a glimpse of what to expect from the 14 weeks of the season. There is a lot of stories going into the first preseason ever for NSFL. Who is going to be the QB for the Otters? Will Scrub Kyubee live up to his namesake? Is anybody be ready for the YetI? After the preseason ended we got some answers but it also gives us more questions for the upcoming season.

OTTERS QB BATTLE:
The Otters Quarterback situation is clearing up a bit. Romeo Devitt made the unselfish decision to move to defensive tackle, which was a great move considering his preseason statistics so far. Devitt is entering week 3 with 12 tackles and 4 sacks. Mike Boss was also looking to prove that he is a starter in this league. Boss in week 1 showed that he can be a game manager, ending the game with 1 touchdown and 109.4 passer rating. In week 2 Boss struggled, having a passer rating of 59. 7 and 2 interceptions. With weeks 3 and 4 in the books, there is still competition from Ethan Hunt and Josh Bercovici but Mike Boss is looking like the early favorite to be the day 1 starter.

SCRUB KYUBEE COMING OUT PARTY:
When the Baltimore Hawks selected Scrub Kyubee in the fifth round, a lot of people scratched their heads, myself included, at the pick. Everybody thought there was better talent on the board as no quarterback had been selected yet. Coming into the season Scrub had a chip on his shoulder and everything to gain. When the first two weeks of the preseason ended, Scrub proved he is not one and the hype was not needed. Throwing 7 touchdowns and no interceptions, Scrub has led the Baltimore Hawks to an undefeated preseason. In weeks 3 and 4 Scrub Kyubee struggled. After having 2 games with 100+ passer rating, Scrub had PR’s of 36.3 and 64.9. The question is if Scrub can sustain the level of play from the first 2 games through the coming season.

LOGAN NOBLE AND JAMEIS CHRIST STRUGGLES
Logan Noble and Jameis Christ were regarded as the number 1 and number 2 quarterbacks in the league. They were supposed to be the Tom Brady and Peyton Manning of the NSFL. Being intertwined at the hip, both are struggling in the preseason. Jameis Christ has thrown 3 touchdowns and threw 4 interceptions in the 4 games. He had a passer rating of 28.1, 40, 95.9, and 55.9 respectively. Logan Noble was slightly worse by having 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Noble showed glimpses of what we hope he is by getting a passer rating of 99.8 in the second game. Since its only preseason, we can hope by regular season these 2 can return unleash the potential and dominate the league.

VICK “BOWSER” BOWERS JR.
Vick Bowers Jr. was a man possessed during the preseason. He showed that he can be an every down back and that he has the capability to put the SaberCats on his back. I gave him the name Bowser because the dude is an absolute beast coming out of the backfield. Throughout the preseason Bowers averaged over 4 yards a carry. With a good amount of high caliber running backs this season, Vick showed that his name belongs at the top and that he’s a must-see talent.

GAELIC THUNDER BRINGS THE BOOM
One of the best stories coming into the draft was the rivalry between Kiernan O’Connell and Luke Tiernan. After a war of words and public bet made on Twitter, it was very fitting that the Colorado Yeti drafted both. Dubbed “Gaelic Thunder” both Tiernan and O’Connell had fantastic preseasons. Tiernan and O’Connell had multiple games with 4+ yard per carry and at least 1 5+ yards per carry game. Ending up on the same team may have been the best thing for both guys as they can push each other to be better and soon become a force to be reckoned with. Watch out for the Thunder!
