*Lucha on the Move - MrStennett - 12-15-2018 The season eleven draft was particularly good for the Tijuana Luchadores. A lot of talent that ended up being drafted early and often during the season twelve NSFL draft joined the ranks of the DSFL last year. This article will focus mostly on those players, but will include one more from a recent draft that will finally be making his rookie appearance with his respective NSFL team. Here I will cover a few former Luchadore players, looking at TPE count, stats from last season, and a little of my own insight having played with these gentlemen for a season. Finally, I will wrap up with a look at my own player who has returned to the DSFL for a curtain call. Let's get started! Trey Staley - S User: @ckroyal92 Current TPE Count: 241 S11 DSFL Stats: 60 TCK, 1 INT, 4 PD Draft Placement: RND 2, PCK 1 The Breakdown: CK is a user that is well-known and well-respected not only in NSFL but in multiple sim leagues. Of course, being the General Manager of the San Jose Sabercats, he was taken with their second round pick. Although his last season stats may seem underwhelming, mostly because of the lack of interceptions and pass deflections, this should be taken with a grain of salt. He's always a great earner, and solely based on reputation alone, would have been taken in the first round for sure if he wasn't team management. Trey will immediately step into a starting role on a much stronger looking Sabercats defense, which was just vacated by CK's former player, Ja Brill. With a young defensive line forcing pressure, and the league's strongest group of linebackers shutting down the run game, it should open the San Jose secondary up to make key plays against the pass. I'd look for Staley to improve upon those INT and PD numbers in a big way during his NSFL rookie debut. Hike Mughes - CB User: @jaskins811 Current TPE Count: 257 S11 DSFL Stats: 41 TCK, 2 INT, 8 PD, 1 TD Draft Placement: RND 1, PCK 3 The Breakdown: Mughes was a bit of a late addition to the Luchadores defense last season, but still appeared in all fourteen season games. Being one of the later season twelve player creates, jaskins has earned at an elite level. He also has the distinction of being the first Tijuana player taken in the season twelve draft, joining an Arizona team that seems to be looking stronger and stronger by the day. Being one of the only cornerbacks available, and certainly the only one with such earning potential, the sky seems to be the limit for Mughes. He served as the Luchadores defensive captain last season, and was definitely a key cog in a defense that seemed to improve game by game as the season went on. Just like with Trey Staley, I expect Mughes to make better on his pass defesne stats in his rookie season, joining a great young defense that includes the likes of consensus number one pick, linebacker Alex Selich, and defensive tackle Andrew Reese. Steven Moore - TE User: @maxcrazy Current TPE Count: 274 S11 DSFL Stats: 74 REC, 544 YDS, 1 TD / 26 Pancakes, 1 SCK Draft Placement: RND 2, PCK 5 The Breakdown: Last year's unanimous DSFL Tight End of the Year winner, Moore paced the Tijuana passing game in receptions and fittingly served as the team's offensive captain. Now retired quarterback Andreas Metaxas really struggled for much of last season, and having to split time with low TPE earner Daniel Amon certainly didn't help Moore's case. It would have been interesting to see just how many catches he could have piled up with reliable quarterback play. Max has not been an overly great earner in his NSFL career to date, but he's compiling enough TPE to be competitive at a rather shallow tight end field. As a matter of fact, if he increased his earn rate by a small amount, he might soon be pressing Arizona's management to increase the amount of two tight end sets they plan to run. Being that his competition on the team is Balthazar Crindy, who at three seasons Moore's senior has less that 250 TPE more, means that he could soon be competing for a starting job should Crindy's earn rate ever decrease. Thorian Skarsgard - LB User: MrStennett Current TPE Count: 248 S11 DSFL Stats: 125 TCK, 4 TFL, 1 FF, 7 SCK, 2 INT, 10 PD, 1 BLK Draft Placement: RND 1, PCK 6 The Breakdown: This is the fun part where I try to be objective about myself. Skarsgard had as good of a first season as I could possibly have hoped for. Leading the Luchadores in tackles, sacks, and pass deflections earned him a nomination for DSFL Linebacker of the Year. Now, there is certainly no shame for me in losing out on that award to Charlie Trout, @iamslm22's player, but it would have been nice to bring it home. Being one of the few active defensive players returning to the DSFL this season should give me a pretty good shot at both that award as well as Defensive Player of the Year. Before my head swells to massive proportions, I have to remind myself that sims can be quite random and it can be anyone's year. Although I look forward to joining my Otter brothers on the Fanta Curtain (props to @Trautner for that beauty of a name) next season, and even with a potential (?) position change in the future, I will bring the same tenacity to the Luchadores linebacker core that I did last season. In conclusion, a big shout out to Luchadores GMs @iseedoug and @nunccoepi for excellent drafting. Without the dedication of these two fellas to their team, we couldn't possibly produce this level of talent. Thanks for making being a member of the Lucha Crew a sim league experience I'll cherish for my entire NSFL career.
