With the preseason coming to an abrupt end, the Yellowknife Wraiths end the year with a solid 3-1 record going into the regular season.

One of the highlights and questions going into the preseason was whether Alexandre LeClair or Chris Orosz would be the starting QB come week 1 of the regular season.

Both QBs gave it their all as they both got two full games to showcase their skills for the coaches

LeClair started the first two games, gaining almost 400 yards through the air with three touchdowns. He also came finished his application noting that he's keeping the ball on the right side, not throwing any picks along with it. He ends up finishing with a preseason record of 1-1 with him at the helm.

Orosz wrapped up the preseason also throwing around the 400 yard mark, but adding four TDs for his stat sheet. Although he did throw two interceptions in his first preseason gig against the Yeti, he managed to still play a huge part in the win and the teams he led the Wraiths to win both games.

Who's gonna lead the Yellowknife Wraiths come week one? I know who's gonna do it! However, you're gonna have to wait and see on the next episode of Unsolved Mysteries.

There's been buzz all preseason about the Otters, of course not all of it is good buzz but we are going to focus on that today. We will be looking at what many people seem to believe is the best part of this Otters squad, their defensive line. Now Orange County does have some beasts on the line for sure, the star defensive tackles jj reigns and Romeo Devitt. A young defensive end on his way to stardom in Adamle Tomlinson who has a very raw but talented prospect named Lightskin Thor playing at the other defensive end spot. They proved all the hype right as devitt totaled 7 sacks in 4 games with Adamle contributing 4 as well as reigns with 3 and Thor with 1. They all feed off of each other, having a stud at each position means it impossible for any o line to block them which leads to insane sack totals. Theyll be looking forward to the first game of the season vs the Outlaws who were winless in the preseason and nearly shut out in these two teams preseason meeting. In a large part due to this very Otters defensive line, they'll definitely be in the media's eyes more as the season progresses and the sacks keep coming

With preseason coming to a close and the regular season looming, everyone is looking at who will land at the top spot for this historic first season of the NSFL.

It's clear through the 4 preseason games that the Hawks are at the top, and the Outlaws are at the bottom. While the Hawks were able to win all four of their games, the Outlaws managed to lose all four of theirs. The Wraiths are going to be a team to watch with their 3 and 1 preseason, only falling in one game so far.

The Sabercats and Otters both finished 2 and 2, and the Yeti might be close at the bottom of the barrel, fighting the Outlaws for next season's first overall pick.

But we're not only going to be looking at teams in general, but we're going to be looking at players. This draft was a crap shoot outside of the first round, so anything can happen.

Can superstars like Garden continue to make big moves and impress everyone, showing they deserved to be picked that high? Or will we see late round picks make up the difference and shock the world?

I guess you'll just have to stay tuned and follow along in the inaugural season for the NSFL.

WHAT"S WRONG WITH WRIGHT

Drafted 49th overall in the inaugural NSFL draft, Orange County Otter's RB Omar Wright was going to be used as a featured piece in OC's backfield, As the preseason went on, the notion that Wright would be able to carry a backfield got more and more unlikely by the week.

One might look at his yardage and see no reason to worry. After all Wright did accumulate 356 yards over the course of the preseason. Looking at the overall context of these yards is where the issue begins. Wright rushed just over 100 times over the season, giving him an average YPC of about 3.5, none too impressive.

One series of plays that showcases his various issues occurred during the Orange County Baltimore game, which ended in a final score of 16-9 Baltimore. It was late in the first quarter, and the Otters were knocking on the Hawk's door after Otter's DE Adamle Tomlinson sacked Baltimore QB Kyubee and recovered the resulting fumble. That play happened on the Hawk's 39, and two quick passes by E. Hunt and two runs by Wright brought the Otters to the Hawk's 10 yard line.

This is the moment where the Otter's offense began to fall apart. Maybe it was the change in chemistry after bringing in J Bercovici at the 10 yard line, but Wright bobbled back and forth with a pass that was then easily broken up by K Hendrix. A pass to Phelps set the Otters up on the 4, and it was 3rd down. The Otters decided to run the ball, giving it to their trusty workhorse Omar Wright who would easily punch 4 yards and score the TD.

Or so they thought.

Instead, Wright ran into his own blockers, tripping himself up and getting tackled at the 2. The Otters settled for a heartbreaker of a FG on fourth down. "Scoring has never felt this bad," said one Orange County Fan. Wright was clearly upset by his two blunders, but being upset doesn't score points.

As his yardage drops harder than a Punter to the turf after a botched trick play, Omar wright is seeming to spiral out of control. Fortunately for Orange County, the massive RB Leroy Jenkins has been playing out of his mind, and is slowly chipping away at WRights 20+ touches a game.

Will Wright bounce back? Will he fade into obscurity as Jenkins becomes the Otter's offensive salvation? What about something in between? All that and more will soon be answered as the regular season is set to kick off this Monday.

Have you ever wondered what it felt like to be tackled by a linebacker from the NSFL? One unlucky would-be mugger found out yesterday evening. Orange County Otters linebacker Ian Bavitz was assisting an elderly woman across a busy intersection early yesterday evening in Santa Ana, the home of the Otters.

A local man saw it as an opportunity for crime. He ran past and yanked the lady's purse right off her arm, nearly pulling her to the concrete with it. Mr. Bavitz was holding onto her tightly and ensured that she didn't get injured in the fall and safely brought her to the other side of the road. According to witness accounts, he then pursued the thief, making a leaping tackle reminiscent of his sack of Vincent Draxel in the first preseason game this year.

Ian Bavitz, the triumphant hero returned the purse to its rightful owner, while dragging the would-be thief along while waiting for the authorities to arrive. Police officers arrived at the scene and took the thief into custody while thanking Mr. Bavitz for his heroic actions in bringing the criminal to justice. The elderly woman thanked Mr. Bavitz too, and our sources say she slipped him her grand-daughters phone number, saying "I'm sure she'd love to hear from a big, strong man like you that rescued her poor grandma!"

The pre-season is over and the dust has finally settled down. The General Managers and coaching staff of the Yellowknife Wraiths had the unenviable decision to choose who of Chris Orosz & Alexander LeClair would take the starting Quarter-Back job. Ultimately, Orosz was given the vote of confidence. There were rumours that LeClair was not happy and felt robbed. Other rumours had him take a year off and come back for S2, potentially as a QB for a possible expansion team.

In a twist that few would’ve expected, LeClair announced that he was going to switch position and become one of the team’s starting Wide Receivers. Media all over the the league were left startled as they saw LeClair practicing routes on the receiving end of Orosz’s passes. Will LeClair be fast enough to match Josh Garden as a receiver? Will he be agile enough to get rid of the defenders marking him?

When asked directly, LeClair, a man of few words had this to say:
“Yes I was disappointed with this decision but I wanted to be part of the team because I made good friends here. GMs told me there was possibility to be a starter at receiver and I accepted because I want to be a starter”.

When asked if the lack of competitive practice would be an issue he simply responded “No.”

We’ll be closely watching LeClair’s performance this season as we remain skeptical about this switch.

Stormblessed Speaks Out Against Collusion in NSFL Head Office

Yesterday was a very interesting day in the NSFL for many reasons. The league office was subject to intense criticism by its member base surrounding some of the policies around training and the way the league is currently handling money. In an open forum setting, the mood was described as “intense” and at times “confrontational.”

League officials were at times evasive when answering questions and at other times accused of giving false answers to placate the tense crowd. A player who asked to remain nameless gave this quote “can someone make heads or tails of what happened today? I’ve replayed the day in my head several times and I still can’t figure it out. (Commissioner Josh) Garden, in particular, seemed to pick and choose what questions he answered and COMPLETELY ignored the collusion question.”

Yes, that’s right. There were whispers amongst the crowd all morning about the 8 extra hours Garden received as a result of a ‘random’ predictions quiz. To put that in context, 8 hours is around a week and a half of extra training time – this is quite significant.

Stormblessed eventually asked Gordon point blank about this and was ignored, Garden’s response was simply that it wouldn’t happen in the future.

After finishing the preseason 2 and 2, the otters look back and try to see where they went wrong in the last 2 games. There has been some controversy surrounding the Otters choice to keep 3 Quarter Backs on the roster has caused a lot of discussion. Boss was played in the first two games and came out with wins after pretty good performances, while Hunt and Bercovici split the last two games and didn't get into the same rhythm as Boss did. It could just be a small sample size, but so far it looks like Boss is winning the first QB job.

On the receiving end of the ball, the Otters have been running with 2 Wide Receivers through the pre-season and appear to be limiting some of their options. While Westfield and Phelps have been great, it would open up more options if they could slot another receiver in. Phelps ended the preseason with the 2nd most receiving yards, behind Stormblessed. Some believe that the QB battle was part of the reason for the drop off in Phelps' production in games 3 and 4 of the pre-season. If Orange County can solve the QB debate and get a 3rd wide receiver to run short routes, they could have the offense to back up their already strong defense.
