*S1 Redraft - 39-15 - majesiu - 01-25-2019

S1 Redraft - 137-100 Part 1: Literally irrelevant
S1 Redraft - 99-70 Part 2: The gone before S5 part
S1 Redraft - 69-40 Part 3: First Regression Fighers
S1 Redraft - 39-15 Part 4: It's getting better!
S1 Redraft - 14-1 Part 5: Crème de la crème

Let's remind the rules:
We know about who this article will be about, but how I decided to grade players? There will be 4 factors - 3 majors and 1 minor. Due to the sheer amount of players in that draft (137), please forgive me judgment calls in category number 3 & 4, especially since I'm only around since Season 6 and don't have much knowledge about first 5 seasons. The categories:
- Peak TPE/100 - Top mark was 12,22
- Career longevity - 0-12 score depending on seasons spend in the league
- Career quality - 0-13 the first of judgment calls, basically non-factor is going to be 1 (0 if never suited), 2 was a bit better than replacement level, 7 made some pro-bowl and 13 is HoF caliber player. I tried to be lenient in this category, but once again - I'm not writing a dissertation about particular players, just trying to give a nice window back into S1 draft to have revived some memories, find biggest steals, busts and have something to write about. I put also a lower emphasis on the first few seasons since the low TPE levels surmount to really random results.
- Activity Grade - 0 to 5 score, where 0 equals lack update page, 3 was somewhat active and 5 was always active throughout the career
I'll try to write a few words about more interesting players, but more often than not I'll just be using the template I prepared for the occasion. One more note is that searching through these old days wasn't easy and I might have missed some seasons if players position switched for example, for such mistakes sincere apologies and feel free to correct me!

The one of the better OLs (still a reach though) that position switched and extended his career quite a bit.

Otter and yeah, you guessed - total reach. At least he stayed in the league for a while as defensive linesman.

The highest TPE player so far, that, unfortunately, ended his career quite early after Arizona scandals I gather. His next player reached similar levels of TPE as RB converted to WR.

Player name: Harriff Ernston - username: @Valtookan

Finally some decent players getting onto the list and we get one more player vital to early success of the outlaws.

He played for a long time and was active at the league begining. Apparently was somewhat controversial too.

Okay, otters got this one - 88 positions steal, that went to all conference titles and won 3 ultimus titles with them on the back of playing hugely needed position.

Player name: AC Hackett - username: @Deusolis
College: Maryland
Position: LB
Peak TPE: 546 - TPE Score: 5,46
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 10

Originally Drafted by: SJS Round: 11, Pick: 64
Redraft Position: 32 - Change: +32
One of the better picks by Cats in that draft, he was able to help any defence for a long time, until regression finally got him.

As you can see we are entering the range of huge steals and people that outgrew their expectations. To be honest I didn't expect this draft to be so wild in terms of the redraft position change. Just like some players drafted early on wanted to give up as soon as the first difficulties showed up.

Player name: Alex Hansen - username: @acki
College: Didn't attend

Peak TPE: 356 - TPE Score: 3,56

Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 22,56
Originally Drafted by: YKW Round: 12, Pick: 71

You could play as cornerback for a long time. And have a good career especially with randomness of first few years.

Player name: Ryan Flock - username: @theFlock
College: Navy
Position: S
Peak TPE: 490 - TPE Score: 4,9
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 10
Career Quality Score: 5
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 22,9
Originally Drafted by: ARI Round: 6, Pick: 31
Redraft Position: 30 - Change: +1
The second closest player to his actual position was nifty safety that helped outlaws secondary.

Player name: Alex Hayden - username: @Rich
College: Texas
Position: CB
Peak TPE: 495 - TPE Score: 4,95
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 10
Career Quality Score: 5
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 22,95
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 5, Pick: 27
Redraft Position: 29 - Change: -2
Hayden bounced around quite a bit and Rich is back in the league with one more strong defensive player that will be drafted tonight in S13 draft.

Player name: Luke Tiernan - username: @Ltsmashie
College: Notre Dame
Position: RB
Peak TPE: 385 - TPE Score: 3,85
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 10
Career Quality Score: 8
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 23,85
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 4, Pick: 22
Redraft Position: 28 - Change: -6
We are in top 28 and still have a bit of reaches, but it was quality pick all things considered.

Player name: Phillipe Carter - username: @enigmatic
College: Colorado State University
Position: CB
Peak TPE: 595 - TPE Score: 5,95
Last season played in the league: S8 - Longevity score: 8
Career Quality Score: 7
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 23,95
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 1, Pick: 3
Redraft Position: 27 - Change: -24
Carter had a nice career, but still more might have been expected of the 3rd OA pick. Probably could have played a bit more, especially as cornerback never had any depth, but enigmatic decided to recreate as one of the best young QBs.

Player name: Ricky Maddox - username: @SimmerDownBruhh
College: Georgia
Position: TE
Peak TPE: 600 - TPE Score: 6
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 10
Career Quality Score: 6
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 24
Originally Drafted by: YKW Round: 9, Pick: 50
Redraft Position: 26 - Change: +24
Arguably the best TE from that draft was a force for two seasons at that position switching to DE later on and helping on that end. Quite a steal.

Player name: George Wright Jr. - username: @Player1
College: University of Iowa
Position: TE
Peak TPE: 487 - TPE Score: 4,87
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 10
Career Quality Score: 8
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 24,87
Originally Drafted by: OCO Round: 18, Pick: 108
Redraft Position: 25 - Change: +83
One more 80+ steal by the Otters, which pains me, but Wright Jr. had a good and long career.

25 points seem to be a nice cutoff for overall score value indicating great value picks and none of these players being bust, just the opposite of anything. Even if their expected redraft position was a bit lower than real one, you can't really blame the GMs and they still made really good decsion.

Player name: John Canton - username: @Sweetwater
College: Ohio University
Position: CB
Peak TPE: 545 - TPE Score: 5,45
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 10
Career Quality Score: 7
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 25,45
Originally Drafted by: SJS Round: 10, Pick: 57
Redraft Position: 24 - Change: +33
The original Canton was one of the few solid defensive back from season 1 draft. Happy to see the next one is doing even better!

Player name: Clee Hardrool - username: @Saliva^
College: Idaho State
Position: S
Peak TPE: 670 - TPE Score: 6,7
Last season played in the league: S9 - Longevity score: 9
Career Quality Score: 7
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 25,7
Originally Drafted by: SJS Round: 13, Pick: 76
Redraft Position: 23 - Change: +53
Speaking of solid defensive backs - Hardrool was a great pickup at 76 and I wonder why Cats weren't a more dominant defensive team with prevalent passing having such a nice secondary.

Player name: Jaylon Lee - username: @youngcricket
College: University of Texas
Position: LB
Peak TPE: 595 - TPE Score: 5,95
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 10
Career Quality Score: 7
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 25,95
Originally Drafted by: ARI Round: 7, Pick: 42
Redraft Position: 22 - Change: +20
One more recently returning player to start potentially at least good of a career. He reached really nice milestones throughout and was part of outlaws dynasty.

Player name: Josh Garden - username: @Ballerstorm
College: Baylor University
Position: WR
Peak TPE: 796 - TPE Score: 7,96
Last season played in the league: S11 - Longevity score: 11
Career Quality Score: 5
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 26,96
Originally Drafted by: YKW Round: 1, Pick: 2
Redraft Position: 21 - Change: -19
The redraft position of 21 and still a reach of 19? Well, they say you can't go wrong with commissioner of the league in the draft (at least that was the talk in NSHL), but unfortunately from the time perspective wraiths could go just a little bit better. His career was long, but also a bit disappointing and maybe it's just my damaged memory, but wasn't he somewhat cursed player for a while? Still, not a devestating pick as was the case with some other 1st rounders, that were straight up busts.

Player name: Bailey Cook - username: @RainDelay
College: Florida State University
Position: WR
Peak TPE: 803 - TPE Score: 8,03
Last season played in the league: S11 - Longevity score: 11
Career Quality Score: 5
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 27,03
Originally Drafted by: SJS Round: 2, Pick: 9
Redraft Position: 20 - Change: -11
I think this is a good moment that I might've undervalued early years contributions, so career quality score might feel/be a bit low for some players. Anyway, RainDelay is back with yet another wide receiver after creating one that should be taken in Top 20 of S1, which is already a good deal.

Player name: Chris Orosz - username: @Aenir
College: Navy
Position: QB
Peak TPE: 695 - TPE Score: 6,95
Last season played in the league: S7 - Longevity score: 7
Career Quality Score: 10
Activity Grade: 4
Overall Score: 27,95
Originally Drafted by: YKW Round: 10, Pick: 59
Redraft Position: 19 - Change: +40
Finally, a real QB that had a good career, even if he was quite a journeyman. While not a HoF, he established some records and was a force to be reckoned with. Two time QB of the year (S1-2)

Player name: Robert Phelps - username: @DrunkenTeddy
College: University of Washington
Position: WR
Peak TPE: 735 - TPE Score: 7,35
Last season played in the league: S9 - Longevity score: 9
Career Quality Score: 9
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 28,35
Originally Drafted by: OCO Round: 13, Pick: 73
Redraft Position: 18 - Change: +55
This draft was full of quality WR, but it's still surprising to see Phelps was taken so late and went to have a really good career, full of playoff accolades, like an Otter. Was always the #2 or #3 main though, which hurt his chances at HoF.

Player name: Fuego Wozy - username: @TheWoZy
College: Tennessee
Position: DE
Peak TPE: 685 - TPE Score: 6,85
Last season played in the league: S9 - Longevity score: 9
Career Quality Score: 10
Activity Grade: 4
Overall Score: 29,85
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 7, Pick: 39
Redraft Position: 17 - Change: +22
To be honest, I was surprised to see Wozy this low, after all, HoF arguments we heard. His career was cut a bit short and he never reached an upper echelon of TPE peaks. No individual awards to his name either. Sorry Wozy, but not Fuego enough.

Player name: Mayran Jackson - username: @Kendrick
College: University of California
Position: S
Peak TPE: 920 - TPE Score: 9,2
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 10
Career Quality Score: 7
Activity Grade: 4
Overall Score: 30,2
Originally Drafted by: ARI Round: 1, Pick: 6
Redraft Position: 16 - Change: -10
Originally drafted as Safety switched to WR in S2 and is the best first-round pick of the S1 draft. Season 1 was full of great receivers and Jackson is one of them, but this also put an unbelievably high baseline for any rewards they were competing for.

Player name: Reg Mackworthy - username: @Esa77
College: Oregon State University
Position: RB
Peak TPE: 634 - TPE Score: 6,34
Last season played in the league: S11 - Longevity score: 11
Career Quality Score: 11
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 31,34
Originally Drafted by: ARI Round: 2, Pick: 7
Redraft Position: 15 - Change: -8
The running yards career leader and one of the low-key best overall career in the league and a testament that you can be an effective player even with low TPE earnings. Winning titles and position award along the way won't hurt your legacy either.

Well, this was finally exciting and easier to write more than one sentence about each player. Just one edition remains, featuring Top 14 of the S1 redraft and absolute legends with some already in the Hall of Fame and others destined for it.

*S1 Redraft - 39-15 - White Cornerback - 01-25-2019

I think Hardrool was traded to YKW in S2 or S3 and played out his career here, hence why SJS didn't have a great defensive record, plus you had Hackett moving on at every turn.

Also AFAIK Garden wasn't cursed in YKW.... it was just the entire franchise. Although he did drop that game winning TD in the endzone for Philly...........

I love me some stormblessed but definitely gotta put Harrif over him, dat boi was a monster

Ernston with a career quality of 3 is a little crazy. He is arguably one of the best defenders in the history of the league in terms of individual stats.

*S1 Redraft - 39-15 - Kendrick - 01-26-2019

Haha typical. The hate runs through

Yeah, my recency bias might get the best of me here and this one player slipped a bit through the cracks when I was glancing through the achievements. It's hard to judge everyone accurately for seasons I didn't have any direct input as I wasn't part of the league, hence career quality is just a part of overall rank, obviously now that I see his accolades it should be a bit higher, but the big thing that held him back in redraft position was also low TPE peak and 9 seasons.

(01-27-2019, 01:10 AM)Kendrick Wrote:Haha typical. The hate runs through

I have no clue what you mean, but I'd love to hear an argument why do you think your player deserves to be higher on the list and even in the short blurb I've written about Jackson called him one of the great S1 receivers, so no idea where the hate is at this point. All players above him on the list (or even some behind him like Phelps) had either won awards, had higher TPE peaks or longer careers.
