*A Brief Overview of 1OA - PSanchez55 - 01-29-2019 With the NSFL and DSFL drafts upcoming, I thought it would be cool to take a look at past players who been drafted 1OA. I might take a look some other selections as well. Obviously the first pick in the draft is a pretty big deal. With the first pick you are looking for a sure thing franchise caliber talent. You have had to lose a bunch of games to earn the #1 pick, and you don't want to mess this up. So how did these teams do? --- Season 1 Draft --- With the first ever pick in NSFL history, the Orange County Otters drafted @Shaka. Shaka was (and still is) a well known sim leaguer with a talent for self promotion. He made such a good case for himself, drafting anyone else almost seemed foolish. Unfortunately... Shaka maxed out at 206 TPE. Shaka is doing work in the SBA dominating in the SBA as a GM and AD. This really could have been a great pick, but, it wasn't. Hindsight is 20/20. Timeconsumer was drafted 25th and only recently retired. --- Season 2 Draft --- Let's just say the Season 2 #1 overall pick had just a little bit better of a career than the Season 1 pick. @WhiteCornerback was drafted to the Yellowknife Wraiths (where they called that back then?). Somehow, he was still playing this past season. The S9 DPOY hit 1368 TPE before regression. Not only was he a DPOY caliber cornerback, he was a really good receiver as well. This was clearly a really great pick. --- Season 3 Draft --- With the first overall pick in the Season 3 Draft, the Colorado Yeti went with O-lineman Antonio Sandoval TheMemeMaestro. Sandoval had some history with the Yeti; they were able to claim him for part of season 2. I was unfortunately unable to find out the maximum TPE Sandoval was able to accumulate. However, I do know that TheMemeMaestro served as the Yeti's GM for a few seasons. I don't believe this was the worst pick. (At this point I realized that finding TPE #s from retired players is next to impossible.) --- Season 4 Draft --- The Outlaws picked 1st and drafted linebacker Noah Goodson @toivo. With a maximum TPE of 648, Goodson never really reached the franchise player status you hope for from a #1 pick. However, the Season 4 Draft was not the deepest draft by any means. Therefore, Goodson wasn't a terrible pick. It just may be a bit tough for Outlaw fans to watch #2 pick Blackford Oakes still balling out 9 seasons later. --- Season 5 Draft --- In the season 5 draft, the Yeti possessed the top 2 picks. With the first overall selection Yeti management drafted Carlito Crush @JKortesi81. At over 1100 TPE Crush is now one of the top receivers in the league, I'd say the Yeti did a pretty good job. If there was a draft today and Kortesi had a player in it, he'd be near the top of many draft boards. I don't know if this was viewed as a no brainer pick then, but it definitely is now. --- Season 6 Draft --- With the first pick of the Season 6 NSFL Draft, the New Orleans Second Line drafted linebacker Brian Mills. Prior to regression, Mills reached 914 TPE. Unless you drafted a QB first overall, you weren't getting a player better than @PaytonM34. At 1OA, what more could you want? (I want 1OA quality play from Mills in Col...) --- Season 7 Draft --- The Yeti possesed 5 of 8 first round picks in season. With their first pick they drafted Howard Miller @dropbear. This draft was stacked. L' Alto and Fyodorovich were taken at 2 and 3 respectively. You couldn't have really gone wrong drafting either of these guys at 1. Colorado made an outstanding choice. They got their Co-GM and a superstar wide receiver. --- Season 8 Draft --- With the first pick of the Season 8 Draft, the Colorado Yeti (The Yeti get a lot of mention in this article.) selected a linebacker Rickey Ramero. In hindsight, Ramero looks like a bad pick. He maxed out at 512 TPE. But as a DSFL GM and eventual head updater, who could have predicted he would burn out and go inactive. Missing on Ricky Ramero stings just a bit more when one considers the overall talent in this draft. Of the 4 linebackers avaliable, Ricky is the only one inactive. The other 3 linebackers avaliable all are nearing, or have passed 1000 TPE. Its tough, but such is the nature of drafts. --- Season 9 Draft --- The Sabercats had the first pick in season 9. This draft had Brown and Adams, two of the leagues best RB; along with Showbiz and Fitzpatrick, both starting QBs. The Sabercats definitely had options with their pick. They drafted the electric wideout Xavier Flash @Leafs4ever. While he has only accumulated 764 TPE (almost 200 off the leader), this was a good pick. They got a #1 receiver (and a job holding, active user) with there first overall pick. --- Season 10 Draft --- San Jose possed 3 of the top 4 picks in the loaded Season 10 Draft. To start of their night, they drafted D'Pez Poopsie, a RB from the @Muford agency. Poopsie position switched to cornerback to increase his usefulness. Currently he has 789 TPE which should definitely be near the top of the class. San Jose didn't stop there. Kazmir Oles and Joliet Christ were great picks at 2 and 4 as well. Hitting on these picks has helped lift the Cats into contention. --- Season 11 Draft --- The Liberty drafted S Lennox Garnett with the first pick in Season 11. The Liberty must have seen something they really liked in @37thchamber. He quickly rose through the ranks to become a team GM. With 551 TPE, the Liberty drafted someone who should be able to hold down the safety ( an GM role) for seasons to come. --- Season 12 Draft --- The S12 draft was deep, and talented. There were great options at basically every position. San Jose had the privilege of surveying their roster, and filling the greatest need. They went DL, and drafted Freezer Riposte 1OA. @Mavfatha is a proven user from the PBE; as of right now, this is looking like an excellent pick. --- Season 13 Draft --- The Wraiths drafted CB Johnny Snuggles 1OA in the most recent NSFL Draft. @manicmav36 first create was the greatest RB in league history. We'll have to wait and see what this next player will do. --- Season 14 Draft --- Cooter? ![]() ![]() *A Brief Overview of 1OA - White Cornerback - 01-29-2019 I think the closest you can get to finding retired players max TPE (since their update threads get deleted when retired) would be to using the index, enter their stats season by season into the player creator, this would spit out a set number of TPE. Great stuff though! *A Brief Overview of 1OA - DeathOnReddit - 01-29-2019 Excuse me but i noticed you said greatest rb in history, but mackworthys name wasnt mentioned. *A Brief Overview of 1OA - PaytonM34 - 01-29-2019 Still upset I never hit 1k tpe... Oh well *A Brief Overview of 1OA - timeconsumer - 01-30-2019 The Shaka pick is better than it looks with tpe alone. He was a big part of who got drafted that s1 draft and how that team set up for the future. He taught me a lot about sim leagues in s1 and s2 and I was able to pass a lot of that knowledge to our future GMs as well. I don't think the Otters would be as successful as we are today if he wasn't drafted 1oa. *A Brief Overview of 1OA - ADwyer87 - 01-30-2019 tbf if we drafted Oakes he would have probably gone inactive after the Er debacle. Sucks that toivo left but he was balling out before drama hit, that costs the outlaws big time for multiple players *A Brief Overview of 1OA - majesiu - 01-30-2019 (01-30-2019, 03:47 AM)White Cornerback Wrote:I think the closest you can get to finding retired players max TPE (since their update threads get deleted when retired) would be to using the index, enter their stats season by season into the player creator, this would spit out a set number of TPE. Get to their first regression (e.g. Offseason 8 for S1) and multiple lost TPE by 5 (they lost 2/10, so inverse proportion to get base value) to get their peak, should be accurate +/- 5 TPE. Wouldn't work if someone got more TPE in a season immediately after regression, but not sure we ever got a case like this. *A Brief Overview of 1OA - speculadora - 01-30-2019 (01-29-2019, 10:32 PM)PSanchez55 Wrote:--- Season 6 Draft --- Ahem... *A Brief Overview of 1OA - BWIII - 01-30-2019 bruh me and @caltroit_red_flames snubbed hard in that S8 draft, I mean we were both first rounders but we da best *A Brief Overview of 1OA - ADwyer87 - 01-30-2019 (01-30-2019, 08:45 AM)speculadora Wrote:Ahem...YOU HEARD THE MAN |
