*Riding Into the Sunset - Stepping Down as AZ's GM - run_CMC - 02-15-2019

I’m going to put the main point upfront before I dive into the rest:

I will be resigning as General Manager of the Arizona Outlaws at the end of the season. My co-GM, @DeathOnReddit will be resigning as well.

Long story short, I had a health scare recently. Although I am fine, and will be in perfect health again in no time at all, this experience and others have put life in perspective for me recently. I’ve decided that the time I invest into this league as a General Manager could be put to better use; I could be using it to better myself, to be with friends, family, and loved ones, or even just to make myself happy. Being a GM was fun for me for a long time, but that fun has simply faded. I will be remaining in the league as a player for as long as it is fun for me, but my days as a GM are complete.

To the members of the Outlaws franchise: I have no doubt my replacement will be completely capable of pushing this team over the barrier into contention. We are full of young talent, and perhaps new blood at the management position is exactly what this organization needs. I will remain a member of the roster for as long as the new front office is willing to keep ole’ Dean Jackson around.

And now, a few words to a few people in no particular order. This is an intentionally brief list. Partially because if I try to include everyone on my roster, I will suddenly be writing pages upon pages. Also because I won’t even be writing much for each person. From Durden to Tomen to JG10 to everyone in between, I am extremely appreciative of everything y’all have done as members of this team. We’d be nowhere without you guys. Thank you.

@Moosecop: You are, to me, the pinnacle Outlaw. You are eternally selfless, and above all, you’re just a cool guy. Having you in my lockerroom since that Season 8 draft has been an extreme pleasure.

@maxcrazy: Ah, my PBE GM! Don’t ever stop being you man, because you’re a really great person. I don’t really follow PBE that much outside of the Vandals lockerroom, so I have no clue if you’re a good GM or not honestly. But you’re a good person, and that matters infinitely more than any sim league job.

@SwagSloth: Your help in the warroom has been tremendous, and frankly, I really admired the way you immediately stepped forward when you messed up. Mistakes can define us, but so can how we respond to them.

@speculadora: You’re not on my roster, but hey. Thank you for what you do for other people. Sometimes simple DMs mean more than you know. (But you’re also a dirty otter, so ew, you stink)

@DeathOnReddit: Bro, you’re just the best. I- wait. You hired me for this job. How did you become my co? Oh yeah, because you knew I was stressed with school and auditions (and you didn’t know health), and you stepped up to help me. I will always appreciate you, and hope I share a lockerroom with you for as long as this league is around.

And last of all...

@Roly: I miss you man. I hope whatever you’re doing in life, you’re succeeding and prospering. Stay strong.

Yup. That’s that. The search for Arizona’s GMs of the future will begin immediately; that will be a post made in NSFL announcements in a little while after this post.

You two were some of the best GMs I've ever had. I'm not even a huge football fan, but you guys were awesome enough to keep me interested in the league. Let's go Outlaws!

But you were supposed to draft me!

I remember that right after the first DSFL Draft I had everyone yelling at me for not drafting you and I absolutely apologize. You've been an absolutely amazing person in the general chat and it's been fun watching you grow into a role like this. I hope to be in an LR with you soon, whether it be here or in the PBE.

still the best FA pitch I have received was from the outlaws. If the roster was better at the time and there was no Mack timeshare, I'm 100% sure I would have been an Outlaw. You will be missed.

Sucks to have a health scare but I’m happy you’re going to be back to 100% soon. You’ve got a lot ahead of you and if you put as much effort into that as you did deciding if it was better to have a 68 or 69 run/pass ratio you will do great things!

And may the last of the kicker mafia continue his long fruitful career ????

Having gone through a similar realization in S8, I can relate and completely understand. I'm glad that it didn't turn out to be life-threatening and that you're taking the steps to take care of yourself and your well-being. The league can be a lot of fun, but being a GM can be a big obligation and that shouldn't come at the expense of IRL stuff. From what I understand, you've got a good path ahead of you and I'm glad to see you putting the things that matter first.

You've been an awesome GM. Thanks for all of the time and work you put into the team.
