(S13) - PT 4 - The Other Guys - AW13 - 02-26-2019 PT Requirements: Sorry for another late one, deadline extended a day to make up for it! WRITTEN: About every NSFL player has gone through the DSFL to develop at some point in their careers, and every DSFL player wants to play for a team in the NSFL. For this point task, write at least 200 words on something related to the other league than your player/GM is in. Write about the good times in the DSFL, or what teams you want to go to in the NSFL. Have fun with it. GRAPHIC: Create a graphic of your DSFL memories, a signature with your desired NSFL team, something related to the league you are not currently in. (Make an effort as lack of effort can lead to less or no credit for this PT) AFFILIATION: Accepted this week: PBE Mock Draft SHL PT NSHL CW GOMHL Media This PT can be used for credit in the corresponding leagues as well, except for PBE unless a PT is posted in there this week. ![]() Deadline: Monday, March 4th, 11:59pm PST (S13) - PT 4 - The Other Guys - karl - 02-26-2019 NSHL CW (S13) - PT 4 - The Other Guys - nunccoepi - 02-26-2019 PBE Mock Draft (S13) - PT 4 - The Other Guys - Bwestfield - 02-26-2019 The DSFL and NSFL are vastly different places, that’s for sure. I have been a GM (Bobby Wasabi) in both (Marshals, DSFL (Current)) (Otters, NSFL) respectively. I am normally quiet in chats and whatnot but I was warned that if I wanted to be on the Marshals that I be a more active and vocal member. I feel like I have somewhat lived up to my agreement. I dont participate a lot on the forums but I do partake in discord. The DSFL in my opinion is very relaxed and enjoyable. Everyone tries but it isnt the end of the world if there are lapses or some failure. People have fun in the chats and it is all very friendly talk/banter. The NSFL seems to breed a different animal. People are very strict about things that they care about for some reason and very relaxed about things they dont. Some rules are followed to a “T” and some never enforced. Not everyone can be perfect all the time but everyone expects the Head Office to somehow negate that fact and appease everyone at the same time with their judgments. Kudos go to these people that work hard all the time but rarely get credit where credit is due when all people see are the mistakes they make. Updaters, HO, Simmers… you are all the glue. Thanks! (S13) - PT 4 - The Other Guys - Leafs4ever - 02-26-2019 I'm usually not a fan of Junior leagues in sim leagues. I'm the guy who just wants to play out his draft year, get drafted, and go straight to the big leagues. When I joined this league, I had the same mentality. However, things changed when I went through my first year in the DSFL. I was drafted into the DSFL by the Tijuana Luchadores. I didn't have any expectations of them or the league because I was so new to it all. Luckily for me, it worked out tremendously. Tijuana was a great place to start my journey, plus we had a kick ass team. I remember that I wasn't the first wide receiver drafted, Vinny Valentine was, so I had a chip on my shoulder. In my rookie season, I put up 1003 yards and 5 touchdowns, won DSFL wide receiver of the year, and also put up 156 yards and 1 touchdown in the playoffs, en route to winning the Season 8 Ultimini Championship. Now, usually, I would be done with developmental leagues, but when the SaberCats drafted me and said I would be going down for another year, I was weirdly OK with it. We had a great season in Tijuana and now I could go back down and try to get back-to-back championships. Little did I know that Season 9 in the DSFL would be my coming out party. In that season, I put up 1361 yards and 13 touchdowns to go along with 202 yards and 3 touchdowns in the playoffs. We won back-to-back Ultimini championships, I won back-to-back DSFL wide receiver of year trophies, and also added DSFL MVP. Season 9 in the DSFL really put me on the map as a star wide receiver in this league. I retired from the DSFL as the leader in all wide receiver categories, cementing myself as arguably the best DSFL player in its' history. Those were my best times in the DSFL and I'm grateful for every minute I spent in that league. My player is chilling on the 6-6 Colorado Yeti; while I'm GMing the 7-5 Portland Pythons. I got both leagues covered. Nothing to write about have I. For Lejune, life in the minors was pretty cool. Winning 90+ percent of your games does tend to rachet up the fun levels. Teamed up with a bunch of guys who very quickly transitioned to the next level, Lejune and Portland clowned the DSFL. We had Trout (rookie of the year 1 season later), Lejune (led his NSFL team in tackles 1 season later), and Schneider (Safety of the Year candidate two seasons later). Thats only the start of the elite level of talent we carried. Slim Shady was our running back, look at what he's doing to the league today. If my GM character (maybe I should name him) were doing this task, I think he'd be rather relieved that he is not an NSFL GM. There is no looking across the abyss with longing. I/ He don't want a "promotion" to the NSFL. The DSFL is challenging enough as is. You think I'd want to try and fix YKW, or NOLA? NO... I absolutely do not. (S13) - PT 4 - The Other Guys - majesiu - 02-26-2019 About every NSFL player has gone through the DSFL to develop at some point in their careers, and every DSFL player wants to play for a team in the NSFL. Have fun with it. DSFL was so fun when I joined it first. Back then the GMs are well known NSFL figures now, San Antonio Marhsalls were led by Roly and run_CMC, we had PDX Ballers and Payton, nunc and iseeyoudoug were just young scrubs but the league and few fantastic memories from back then kept my CB alive in the NSFL later despite terrible runs. It was also the first ever title I've earned in sim leagues with San Antonio as waiver create in that S6 run. We are now 7 seasons later and the DSFL is still thriving with 4 active teams, San Antonio hasn't won a title since then, but at least Kansas City Coyotes were able to break a curse a year after I stepped down during my short and only so far GM run in all leagues. Really happy that my successor was able to win it all and give the last remaining franchise the shiny Ultimini. I also really like the system that allows prospects to shine for a season in preparation for NSFL draft and reach a certain amount of ability to be impactful NSFL players already in their rookie season depending on their position obviously. Some good rules were established, but first and foremost there is a fantastic group in management that keeps the development league going strong, both as head office, simmers and GMs keeping the lockers room together and growing.
