*Q&A With 4 Prospect QBs - CalvinP - 03-15-2019 To keep things easy to follow questions will be BOLD Our 4 QBs are: Apollo Lange Ryan Leaf Jr Brock Landers TJ Hendrix ------------------------------------------------------------- LETS GET STARTED Question 1: A few games in, got your feet wet, how's things been going for you on the field? I’ll be honest, it was hard to get a rhythm going in the 2-QB system. But I feel happy with the differences in play style that I was able to show. My mobility has been clutch. I just need more reps. It’s been going quite good overall, trying to follow my dad in his footsteps I’d like to find the end zone more but I’m happy with the way we’ve been moving the ball. Both on the ground and in the air. As long as we keep winning I think I’ll be satisfied with my performances. They’ve been going good. Of course I wish I was playing better and sharing snaps can be a pain but I currently have the highest QBR in the prospect bowl so I can’t complain. - You play a key position, have you been watching the other rookies as well? I have, I’m really impressed with the defensive side of the ball in particular. Players have been showing their ability to translate their game pretty fluidly from college and stifle other teams. It’s super cool to watch. I’ve been watching to see how loyal and respectful the player is to the team they play, respect is a key part to a good player as a good person Oh yeah. I tune in for every game. Can’t say I’ve been impressed by a lot of the other QBs. Most of them look like running backs or interception machines. At other positions I’ve seen some good talent, especially on my team, the Foxes. Excited to see how the draft plays out. Of course. How we all play will determine who goes where. - Do you see yourself as the locker room leader? I do, not only because the quarterback is such an important roles do I have to be, but I demand the best of myself and my teammates constantly. I think there’s always a possibility that someone could start phoning in it, and i cut that. That’s not what my teams are about. As of right now, I believe so, with the pacific owls, being a leader is important for a franchise because of the advice they give to all players I think so. All the guys do their part, but they all know I’m gonna push them and hold them to a certain standard of play. I tend to lead by example. My teammates see me out there making it look easy, and the game starts to feel easier for them too I really do. Not to put down down my peers, but I don’t believe any of the other rookie QBs can lead how I can - Have you made any close relationships with anyone in the locker room? A few of the guys have gotten close with each other in the Blackbirds locker room, I’ve gotten to know Max Vaz pretty well at the running back spot. I think if someone gives a chance to get churning in the right system he’s going to make a team very happy. Not really so far, because it’s just the rookie bowl, it takes a while to develop a good bond with a player/coach The Candyman and I got along great ever since the first game. Edmund “The Count” Beaver-Dantes is a good guy. Some guys on the defense too like Lo Mein, Troy Huma, and Kroustis are all good buddies too. Great team atmosphere. Gonna be cheering all of these guys on in the draft. It’s been hard when we’re not in a true locker room yet. It’s just all the rooks together and its hard to make connections when you’re all competing for the same spots - Who's your favorite rookie that's not yourself? I am absolutely loving watching Gump play at running back. The team has quickly been playing around his strengths, which is so cool to see this early, even in these exhibition games. If he’s starting out this well so early, the league is in trouble. I personally like Forrest Gump One of the great rookie running backs Terry Taffy for sure. The guy makes my life easy. He opens the field up a whole lot for me, Andre, and MBC really appreciate it. Plus he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. It has to be Gump, he really knows how to play and is a great guy all around - What are the biggest attributes you want to work on for the future? One underrated aspect of maturing in larger and better leagues is the awareness of athletics around you. I need to get better at pocket awareness and coverage reading. I know I do. These guys are just way stronger and faster than they were at UCLA Most likely my accuracy and ball control The two biggest attributes of a qb Intelligence. I’ve been reading the playbook and trying to cut interceptions out of my game. I’m also always working on my arm and accuracy. Speed is a priority for me too. Accuracy and intelligence. If you don’t know where to throw and can’t hit them there’s no reason even being out there. - Totally unrelated question, if you were an animal, would you rather be a Tiger, Silverback, or Polar Bear? And why? I mean, you have to be a Polar Bear, right? Not only are they fighting the ecosystem, they’re fighting global warming. That has to be worth something. *laughs* Probably a tiger because of the stealthy moves it does Tiger. I already have tiger blood so it’d probably be a pretty easy transition I would have to go silverback, they are a true mix of speed, agility and strength they can hold their own against the other two - What's more important to you? Being acknowledged by the league as a whole or quietly being one of the best at your position? Acknowledgement means nothing to me in the long run. Really I only care about the legacy when it comes to my own mind. I don’t need to be told if I’m the best if I know I am, I get that information from so much more; my teammates respect, contracts, the honor of being the quarterback chosen by a franchise to lead them into wins and to love their community. Acknowledgement usually comes from within. I’d rather be acknowledged than being the best because it’s already hard to get on a good team, why not be recognized by your current team as one of the best of the generation I like to be acknowledged for my accomplishments. I put in the hard work so I can reap the benefits of that work. The women, the cars, the boats, the trophies. It’s what motivates me Quietly being one of the best. Eventually everyone will the know the name. - Let me give you a hypothetical, the game is on the line and you have one play left. Do you have confidence in allowing your teammates to make the play? Or would you want to have the ball in your hands? I’m always going to follow the hot hand, so depending on how the game is going, I go that path. That being said, I’m the quarterback - right? I always have the ball. I’m going to do what’s right for the team, so if I see that my teammate can make the play, make it. This is a tough one, I feel like I can handle the situation quite well because in last years rose bowl I rushed 26 yards for the game winning touchdown with only 10 seconds left Depends on the situation. Are we feeding Taffy from the one? Because that’s automatic. If the ball is at the 15 with one play left you bet you ass I want the ball. I have confidence in my teammates. I will never run the ball in and will always opt for my teammates to make the play. - Last question. Do you think this interview will help or hurt your eventual draft stock? I sure hope it helps. Really, a team is going to concretely gain 3 things when they select me: a great and relentless teammate, an athletic quarterback in a league where that’s rare, and an undeniable sense of improvement. The rest falls into place when it can. I believe this would overall help my stock because scouts want to know what’s inside that head of ours I don’t care. I tell it how it is. If the GM’s value honesty, it’ll help my stock. If they want to hear the cliche responses it’ll hurt my stock. I don’t think either can outweigh my body if work I honestly hope it helps -Interview Over. Thanks guys, I wish you the best in the future.- -------------------------------------------------------- READY TO BE GRADED (1,485 Words) *Q&A With 4 Prospect QBs - YoungTB - 03-15-2019 Future is looking bright! *Q&A With 4 Prospect QBs - ValorX77 - 03-15-2019 We’re looking quite solid!
