Run support provides more unique coverages than any DB and we don't have a safety build with a Max intelligence over 80 but we have two CB builds with an 85 cap. Usually not the fastest safeties or have the best stamina, they can tackle in open field, coverage big players and take down RBs alone due to their big hit ability. Knows more coverage than anyone on the field and should be reading the backfield/QB/over the top when Ball is snapped.

Thanks for reading guys.

Ok so first of all... really cool that you're looking at this stuff and making suggestions.

However, straight up, my immediate problem is that a speed cap below 90 on a defensive back is too low. Speed is too important in this sim, and limiting any DB to tight end speeds is a bad idea, imo.

Otherwise, this might work better. I don't really know. I imagine the archetypes are fine in general though, given the testing that went on previously.

At a glance, without any testing on my part, I'm not sure what the impact of increasing strength would actually be, and suspect it wouldn't produce the desired effect, especially if lowering the tackling cap (though I understand your logic).

Higher intelligence makes sense, I guess. But I figure there's a reason no DB archetype goes over 85.

Lower hands ... ehh. I guess that makes sense if you're expecting this player to not have as much responsibility in coverage, but I wonder how much that affects their ability to be flexible overall.

Might be worth testing against the existing archetype (assuming tc didn't already optimise safety archetypes) and seeing the impact.

I definitely wouldn't switch to this archetype from center fielder, though.

Ooooo archetype change discussions. I'll jump in since I was the guy who changed (screwed up) most of the ones we currently have:

Run Support safety was a really tough one to figure out. I had to make sure it didn't make the coverage linebacker obsolete since the two are so similar, this is why I designed it the way it is. I was never really happy with the compromise.

All told if I could go back and do it again I would have completely blown up the entire system and eliminated a ton of archetypes on both sides of the ball, let's take linebackers for example.

Run Stopper, Balanced, Power Rusher, Coverage, Speed Rush. 5 archetypes. And they are all so damn similar. Why do we need this many? DL is the same with 4 archetypes that are all very similar. Safety is no different. And tight end, balanced and possession are too similar. Etc.

What I would do instead?

Linebacker: Power, Speed, Balanced
DL: Power, Speed, Balanced
S: Run Support, Coverage, Balanced
Corner: Man, Zone, Balanced
TE: Blocking, Receiving, Balanced
WR: Speed, Possession, Balanced
RB: Speed, Power, Balanced

You get the point. Three archetypes is all we need for most positions. Hell, maybe even two. Run Support is a victim of too many archetypes and too few attributes.

I agree but there's no way we can implement a build with more intelligence?

I mean, there are other stats you can stockpile TPE in for regression...

In all truth, Intelligence is like the least significant stat in the sim for almost anyone outside of QB.

I'm not concerned about regression, safety that can play in the box definitely needs high intelligence. Even if it seem insignificant to some, I'd like to be able create a smart safety.
