*Making your way to Stardom! - TeyonSchavari - 06-05-2019

Whats up everyone! When I first started in the NSFL, it was...overwhelming, to say the least. I honestly didn't know if I could keep up with it. Now that I've grown used to the site, and have almost two seasons under my belt, I feel confident in advising the newcomers on here. With the influx of new users coming in, I want to provide some tips beyond what is listed in the Rookie Guide (which you should definitely read if you haven't already).

Before I go on any further, I just want to say to any incoming rookies: Welcome! I'm glad you found us, and I truly hope you enjoy it here. This is a fun community and I'm sure you'll feel right at home. If you are reading this, it is very likely you have already created a player. That's great! You are already well on your way to becoming an impact player in this league. I'm sure you have many questions, but what I want to focus on is what will make you the most successful player you can be.
  • First things first: TPE is your golden goose. Any opportunity you have to earn TPE, TAKE IT. Completing the Rookie Point Task fully is a great way to get a head start. From then on, check the point tasks page regularly, or if you want to have a leg up set up notifications on the discord's TPE Opportunities channel so you don't miss anything. This seems obvious, I know, but the higher amount of TPE you earn, the more appealing you are to the GM's of the league. It is how you better yourself as a player, which leads right into my next point.

  • Use your TPE wisely. Although this doesn't seem to follow logically, it is NOT better to spread your TPE around to all relevant stats. Go to THIS PAGE to see what stats are most important to raise for your position. From experience, in this sim speed kills. Seriously, in most positions if you put all of your TPE into speed chances are you're going to have a great time.

  • Being an active member on the site is the best thing you can do for yourself as a player. I'm not saying you have to post and respond to every topic on here or talk on the discord all the time. Just make sure you have at least a small presence. You will be drafted into the DSFL first, and the number 1 thing that GM's are looking for is activity. Is this player active on the site - posting updates, media, etc.? Has their name popped up on the discord at all? If you are an active player that is continuously earning TPE, you have a great chance of being picked early in the draft.

  • Don't be afraid to ask for help. Anything you have questions on the sim, the league, updating, etc. don't hesitate to reach out to a rookie mentor, or if you don't know who they are post something to the discord's help channel and you will get your answer fairly quickly. This is a win-win situation all around. You get answers, other players get familiar with you, and GM's see that you are actively trying to better yourself.

  • This last point is less important early on, but will become important as you continue to blossom into a superstar. Don't skip opportunities to earn money. Before the draft, write a bit about yourself. Host a presser. If you're into graphic creation, create a new signature for your player. Why do you need money? You need it to purchase weekly training & equipment for TPE. The more the merrier. A little tidbit I'll add: Always buy the most expensive of each training & equipment. It is the best value. Equipment TPE stacks each season, so you'll want to make sure you have enough to buy it if you plan on being a max earner.
While you're here, click around a bit on the site to familiarize yourself. It is a lot to take in, but once you start finding where everything is and what it all leads to it becomes much less daunting. After a while, you'll be all caught up on the shenanigans that go on here and will have a much firmer grasp of what to do. If anybody else has their own advice to give, post it down below because I'm sure I missed something.

Welcome Rookies! Good luck on your NSFL journey!

This is good stuff. I definitly second everything he said. especially making media articles to make money. That really helped me when I started.
