(ABOVE: Lavelle sat down with various members of the DSFL & NSFL media this week)Dermot Lavelle Jr, son of future hall of famer Dermot Lavelle took time to sit down and talk with the press from both the NSFL and DSFL earlier this week. The press conference took an unusual turn after starting off with small talk before Lavelle Jr. directed the flow of conversation into what appeared to be an ultimatum for future NSFL teams looking to attract his services in the upcoming NSFL Draft.
"I'm aware that there's been significant buzz about my future career, which up untill now I have not entertained because of my focus on the DSFL and my team the Norfolk Seawolves. Now that we've been eliminated from playoff contention, I am focusing on my NSFL career. I'd like to thank everybody from Norfolk for all the hard work they've put in this season and while it wasn't the outcome we would've liked, the effort was there. I'd also like to thank the Kansas City Coyotes for their facilities and how they helped me during my waiver season... even if my time there was not particularily long, it was impactful on my development."
"I believe I've rambled on enough and I'm going to outline my strict, non negotiable conditions for teams looking to pick me in the upcoming NSFL draft. They are as follows:[/div]
[div align=\\\"left\\\"]- I will be a true rookie. I will not be sent nor agree to be sent down to the DSFL for another season.
- I will be playing in one of the two CB spots upon being drafted. No safety stuff.
- I will have the starting PR1 spot for the teams punt returns.
- I will have the KR1 spot for kick returns.
- I will not sign with your team if you do not contact me prior to the draft.
- I will be paid what I'm worth, offer me a contract worth my value as a player on your team. Additionally - I am strictly signing a 1 year deal with a NTC clause which I will re-evaluate every offseason/free agency period. Failure to adhere to KR/PR/CB demands above will result in me waiving my clause and requesting a trade.
- You will outline (or rather attempt to explain) the direction the team is going in for the future with regards to re-signings/FA moves/expectations etc.
- Depending on the date and results of the expansion draft, I will be contacting teams in advance of the NSFL Draft explaining that I will not sign for them depending on the LR makeup and personnel.
