*S2 Redraft 58-29 - majesiu - 06-19-2019

I'm back with the series that was planned to be seasonal thing, but other circumstances and my overall limited sim league activity forced it back a bit in time.
Preferably I'll catch up to it one day, especially since following the biggest S1 and almost a 100 people S2 draft next ones were much smaller until very recent fantastic S15 draft. Such delay isn't the worst either, since we now know for the most part which players ended up in HoF, though some still are awaiting theirs induction, because they are not eligible quite yet since they played maximum amount of season.

Other parts:
S2 Redraft 93-59 Part 1: The Untouchables and worse
S2 Redraft 58-29 Part 2: Fillers of necessity
S2 Redraft 28-21 Part 3: Good and better

In case you missed it: links to S1 Redraft, especially for newer guys, series is rather repeatable, but especially last few parts contain more information about players, including some GOATs that already ended their careers.
S1 Redraft - 137-100 Part 1: Literally irrelevant
S1 Redraft - 99-70 Part 2: The gone before S5 part
S1 Redraft - 69-40 Part 3: First Regression Fighers
S1 Redraft - 39-15 Part 4: It's getting better!
S1 Redraft - 14-1 Part 5: Crème de la crème

Let's remind the rules:
We know about who this article will be about, but how I decided to grade players? There will be 4 factors - 3 majors and 1 minor. Due to the sheer amount of players in that draft (93), please forgive me judgment calls in category number 3 & 4, especially since I'm only around since Season 6 and don't have much knowledge about first 5 seasons. The categories:
- Peak TPE/100 - Top mark was 13,75
- Career longevity - 0-12 score depending on seasons spend in the league
- Career quality - 0-13 the first of judgment calls, basically non-factor is going to be 1 (0 if never suited), 2 was a bit better than replacement level, 7 made some pro-bowl and 13 is HoF caliber player. I tried to be lenient in this category, but once again - I'm not writing a dissertation about particular players, just trying to give a nice window back into S2 draft to have revived some memories, find biggest steals, busts and have something to write about. I put also a lower emphasis on the first few seasons since the low TPE levels surmount to really random results.
- Activity Grade - 0 to 5 score, where 0 equals lack update page, 3 was somewhat active and 5 was always active throughout the career, preferably with some bigger roles within organization or the league
I'll try to write a few words about more interesting players, but more often than not I'll just be using the template I prepared for the occasion. One more note is that searching through these old days wasn't easy and I might have missed some seasons if players position switched for example, for such mistakes sincere apologies and feel free to correct me!
- Some teams passed in the later parts of the draft, so redraft relative change of spot might be a bit inaccurate, because of that

Player name: Johnny Rocket - username: @:.Elite.:
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: WR

Now re-branded and relocated for what seems like an eternity Las Vegas Legion was really barren early on, so even 122 TPE Wide Receiver was actually used in some role on the field in his rookie season.

Player name: Isaiah McGinn - username: @Jepox
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: S

One of many sim league players created Jepox followed his usual trajectory and was abandoned soon after, yet another classic Otters reach.

Player name: Christian Adams - username: @TheRealBK

Position drafted as: QB

Quarterbacks really need to excel to be used in the league and it was true even back in S2 - he earned a decent amount of TPE and players with such playing other positions stayed around for much longer. Instead he barely played in S2 and wasn't heard about in NSFL anymore.

Player name: Steve Austin - username: @CampinKiller
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: LB
Peak TPE: 100 - TPE Score: 1

Overall Score: 6
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 9, Pick: 71
Redraft Position: 54 - Change: +17
Yet another sim league vet from many leagues, this time player stayed around for couple seasons, but mostly because linebackers were just that much needed.

Player name: Ottokar Von Gerhardt - username: @fish
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: DE

Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 6,04
Originally Drafted by: PHI Round: 5, Pick: 33
Redraft Position: 53 - Change: -20
Same case as above with staying additional season around, because of positional need.

Player name: Tyron Smith - username: @TyronSmith
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: OL

Even as OL wasn't able to stay around until S4 came and switched the fate of this position.

Player name: Luke Chunk - username: @Chunk
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: LB
Peak TPE: 107 - TPE Score: 1,07

Originally Drafted by: YKW Round: 8, Pick: 61
Redraft Position: 51 - Change: +10
Yeah, this edition is repeatable and boring and it's often fate of every sim league early iteration to include even players that barely improved in couple of first drafts to get a chance in majors.

Player name: Shawn Brady - username: @TheLastOlympian07
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: QB
Peak TPE: 139 - TPE Score: 1,39

Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 6,39
Originally Drafted by: PHI Round: 7, Pick: 49

QB story as with Christian Adams is the same here, but at least he threw a few more snaps in Season 2.

Player name: Xavier Newman - username: @CubsFan19
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: CB
Peak TPE: 108 - TPE Score: 1,08

Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 7,08
Originally Drafted by: SJS Round: 5, Pick: 37

Created on the hype of '16 WS I bet, unfortunately didn't go their way of success and instead quickly fallen into obscurity, though as safety stayed around for couple of years.

Player name: Rafael Reyes - username: @Julio
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: CB
Peak TPE: 127 - TPE Score: 1,27

Career Quality Score: 2
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 7,27
Originally Drafted by: YKW Round: 11, Pick: 85
Redraft Position: 48 - Change: +37
Is Julio a play on Romeo and Juliot mix of names? Probably not, but you won't be able to say anything interesting about this corner back career either.

Player name: Rich Gucci - username: @MixAndMatch
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: TE
Peak TPE: 153 - TPE Score: 1,53
Last season played in the league: S2 - Longevity score: 1
Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 7,53
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 7, Pick: 55
Redraft Position: 47 - Change: +8
Yay this time we have offensive player that stayed for longer than a year - in the similarly not as liked early on position - Tight End, which explains staying power with just 153 TPE earned.

Player name: Shjom Finkenlarkin - username: @Big Country
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: OL
Peak TPE: 156 - TPE Score: 1,56

OL with great name and no future after S3.

Player name: Scotty Timlin - username: @scottyt

Position drafted as: OL

Career Quality Score: 2
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 7,84
Originally Drafted by: ARI Round: 3, Pick: 24
Redraft Position: 45 - Change: -21
Maybe if the change of rules came after S3 they could have salvaged plenty more of those poor trapped OL that went IA in S2/3/4 or S1 too, judging by S1 Redraft series.

Player name: Leon Morgan - username: @Esarhaddon
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: CB
Peak TPE: 107 - TPE Score: 1,07

Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 8,07
Originally Drafted by: LVL Round: 10, Pick: 73
Redraft Position: 44 - Change: +29
Cornerback weren't popular back then either, that explains how you could stay in NSFL with grand total of 107 TPE for 3 seasons (on Legion so not sure it counts).

Player name: Braden Sharp - username: @adamantium
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: OL
Peak TPE: 117 - TPE Score: 1,17
Last season played in the league: S4 - Longevity score: 3
Career Quality Score: 2
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 8,17
Originally Drafted by: SJS Round: 9, Pick: 67
Redraft Position: 43 - Change: +24
The nickname I recognize from SHL, created as successful player here, that was able to play out his OL career.

Player name: Matt James - username: @MattJames
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: OL
Peak TPE: 190 - TPE Score: 1,9

Career Quality Score: 2
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 8,9
Originally Drafted by: PHI Round: 6, Pick: 42
Redraft Position: 42 - Change: 0
I like the player name/username combo even if it's a bit boring - same as this player's fate. If he was around to position switch after rule change he actually could play a bit longer.

Player name: John Baker - username: @Bakepiece
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: WR
Peak TPE: 101 - TPE Score: 1,01
Last season played in the league: S5 - Longevity score: 4
Career Quality Score: 2
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 9,01
Originally Drafted by: BAL Round: 8, Pick: 60
Redraft Position: 41 - Change: +19
Speaking of username/player connections. He was kept as depth and last receiver around, so the career quality score could have been even lower actually.

Player name: Kyle Cobb - username: @Kcobb9
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: RB
Peak TPE: 123 - TPE Score: 1,23
Last season played in the league: S4 - Longevity score: 3
Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 9,23
Originally Drafted by: LVL Round: 6, Pick: 41
Redraft Position: 40 - Change: +1
Offensive player playing for 3 seasons? Check. Sub 150 TPE? Check? Got to be Legion, right? Check.

Player name: James Wright - username: @PlotzkeA
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: LB
Peak TPE: 155 - TPE Score: 1,55
Last season played in the league: S4 - Longevity score: 3
Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 9,55
Originally Drafted by: BAL Round: 6, Pick: 45
Redraft Position: 39 - Change: +6
Wright actually played some meaningful minutes, albeit after S4 his career died down.

Player name: Roman Thomas - username: @TheDangaZone
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: S
Peak TPE: 163 - TPE Score: 1,63
Last season played in the league: S4 - Longevity score: 3
Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 2
Overall Score: 9,63
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 2, Pick: 15
Redraft Position: 38 - Change: -23
I was a bit surprised to see TDZ so far down, but Roman Thomas career is yikes for user of such caliber, his newest player is doing much better though!

Player name: Matthew Vincent - username: @sapp2013
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: WR
Peak TPE: 301 - TPE Score: 3,01
Last season played in the league: S3 - Longevity score: 2
Career Quality Score: 2
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 10,01
Originally Drafted by: BAL Round: 7, Pick: 52
Redraft Position: 37 - Change: +15
Record TPE so far, that could put him easily 10+ spots higher, but he retired early on, so the longevity and quality wasn't there, thankfully his recreate was quite good.

Player name: Gadget Tech - username: @Tech
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: OL
Peak TPE: 210 - TPE Score: 2,1
Last season played in the league: S4 - Longevity score: 3
Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 11,1
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 8, Pick: 63
Redraft Position: 36 - Change: +27
Inspector wasn't able to adjust after OL was no longer needed.

Player name: Dieter Koch - username: @Sleepy
Position Change: OL -> RB
Position drafted as: OL
Peak TPE: 199 - TPE Score: 1,99
Last season played in the league: S5 - Longevity score: 4
Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 11,99
Originally Drafted by: BAL Round: 4, Pick: 27
Redraft Position: 35 - Change: -8
And finally a player that had some life after his OL pain, Koch was able to run for a season, before being replaced.

Player name: John Ross - username: @JR95
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: WR
Peak TPE: 292 - TPE Score: 2,92

Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 12,92
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 6, Pick: 47
Redraft Position: 34 - Change: +13
One more player/lesson that even if someone is absolutely top tier in other league it doesn't necessarily translates to another, still if he was playing defense he'd probably be able to stay around until regression started.

Player name: Blaster Blade - username: @Blaster
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: DE
Peak TPE: 355 - TPE Score: 3,55
Last season played in the league: S5 - Longevity score: 4
Career Quality Score: 4
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 14,55
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 1, Pick: 2
Redraft Position: 33 - Change: -31
2nd Overall by the Yeti retired while on Yellowknife early on, even though as DE he was almost peaking and could stay for ~4/5 more seasons. Kudos for keeping the word on possible recreate with over a year break in between players (even if new player can barely stay in DSFL). Terrible reach in hindsight, but you can't really predict retirements (and not sure how he ended up in YKW after getting picked by the COL).

Player name: Ragner Kronen - username: @Kronen
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: S
Peak TPE: 210 - TPE Score: 2,1
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 9
Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 17,1
Originally Drafted by: OCO Round: 3, Pick: 22
Redraft Position: 32 - Change: -10
210 TPE and yet stayed around for 9 seasons! Shows how valuable and undermanned defensive back were back in the day.

Player name: Luke Washington - username: @Den_Tex_Mix2
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: LB
Peak TPE: 270 - TPE Score: 2,7
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 9
Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 17,7
Originally Drafted by: PHI Round: 5, Pick: 34
Redraft Position: 31 - Change: +3
Same story as with Ragnar, not otherwise really successful, but just good enough to stay around and fill the rooster for some time.

Player name: Torque Lewith - username: @Hypodynamic
Position Change: QB -> LB
Position drafted as: QB
Peak TPE: 285 - TPE Score: 2,85
Last season played in the league: S10 - Longevity score: 9
Career Quality Score: 3
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 17,85
Originally Drafted by: COL Round: 11, Pick: 87
Redraft Position: 30 - Change: +57
Finally a QB that decided it's a good move to switch position to something not needing such a high TPE investment, becoming one of the better late picks in this draft.

Player name: Denzel Diaz - username: @ElMachoNacho
Position Change: Didn't change (or I wasn't able to track it)
Position drafted as: RB
Peak TPE: 225 - TPE Score: 2,25
Last season played in the league: S9 - Longevity score: 8
Career Quality Score: 5
Activity Grade: 3
Overall Score: 18,25
Originally Drafted by: SJS Round: 8, Pick: 57
Redraft Position: 29 - Change: +28
I vaguely recall he had some decent seasons, but overall this so low career TPE tanked his value and RB wasn't as popular as it is now, so 225 TPE was enough to stay around until S9.

M'kay, this part was a bit more interesting, though lion share of players was far away from being stars and early league TPE curve forced them into playing, when in reality barely any of them would make roster currently. See you in final part and good luck for everyone in tonight's expansion draft!

*S2 Redraft 58-29 - 124715 - 06-21-2019

Awesome article again. But it's worth noting that Johnny Rocket played into S9, with the Liberty and the Wraiths, after the Legion let him go.
