BREAKING: Hawks sign Xandra Troyski, pairing the Top 2 CBs in the NSFL

During the first day of free agency, a deal was hammered out to bring former Sabercats All-Star CB, Xandra Troyski, to Baltimore. This move pairs the top 2 TPE CBs in the NSFL together (Axel Hornbacher 858 TPE (@PDXBaller) and Xandra Troyski 917 TPE (@mabb)), along with the S15 breakout star, CB Arbin Asipi III (@DeathOnReddit), and the talented S15 Rookie duo FS Fatih Terim (@Eco) and SS Walt Green (@Duilio05). When asked about the acquisition, Douglas pointed to the aggressive plan he and Epictitus set when taking over the team.

Icy Douglas: “Just as I said in my last interview, Epictitus (@nunccoepi) and I are here to win ball games, and our plan is always win now. I think this move complements that plan. Xandra has been in the big game and won the big game. She is a fast shutdown corner, which fits our plans on the outside. Plus, Xandra knows how to play in our scheme, as she won 2 championships with Epictitus and me in Mexico. I think we easily have the best secondary in the NSFL with this move.”

When Troyski was asked about the move, she expressed that she and her dog Nax are excited to be reunited with their former GMs.

Xandra Troyski: “ With the expansion of the NSFL and three great seasons for the Sabercats, now seemed like a good time to leave. The transition of leadership in San Jose along with a potential rebrand will be a change, for sure, but I am confident that having broken the Ultimus drought, they’ll be a strong contender for years to come. This makes room for some new CBs to come fill my spot, while balancing the Hawks ends so maybe the stats are a little more balanced. It stung a little to be snubbed in the ASFC Pro-Bowl voting, given I’m clearly at the top of my game and everyone knows stats don’t reflect the true prowess of a CB. So with equally powerful CB coverage, I think my stats this season might better reflect all the work I’ve put in over my career. On a personal note, I never lost touch with Icy and Epictitus when they moved to Baltimore, and once Ben Horne (a fellow Lucha alum and my best friend) followed them, I think it was only a matter of time that I rejoined the group, as well. It was a little hard reconciling to this subconscious knowledge when I first entered free agency because I really developed strong ties to the Sabercats and could see myself being a forever-cat. So, given all the change and turnover this offseason anyway, I hope this move doesn’t completely burn those bridges. Nax and I still love you all and hope for an Ultimus rematch next season.”

This move comes after an expansion draft that took 4 players from Baltimore, including defensive stars CB Achilles Hondo and DE Kwame Mbanefo. To make matters worse, the team was surprised by the early retirement of the versatile LB Charlie Trout. Despite these losses, the team is confident it can make it back to the big game, and this FA signing is the first step.
