*Race for NSFL MVP - Week 4 - TropicaliaCC - 07-15-2019 Race for NSFL MVP – Week 4 In this recurring column I will go in depth analyzing the players that are most likely to win S16 NSFL MVP. My criteria for comparing candidates will be 60% statistical and 40% importance to overall team success. Additionally, I will be looking retroactively at performances and not try to project going forward. 1) Vinny Valentine WR – Orange County Otters @Unicorn Vinny Valentine has been almost unguardable through 4 games this season. His 24 receptions is good for fifth most in the league, while he only trails Maddox of Baltimore in yardage (and that’s only by 11 yards). Valentine is the only player in the NSFL currently averaging over 1 receiving Touchdown per game with 5 through 4 games. Valentine has given the Otters offense the ability to take the top off a defense as he has 6 catches of 25 or more yards. To go along with all of that, he has zero drops this year which is incredible considering the number of targets he sees each game. When you factor in his effect on their return game as well it’s no wonder Valentine is one of the premiere offensive weapons in today’s game. Without Valentine OCO would not be averaging 29.0 PPG because he is responsible for 38% of the production in the passing game. 2) Raymond Vans LB – Arizona Outlaws @karl A defensive player in the running for MVP? That’s right, Ray Vans has been an absolute game wrecker thus far. Vans has anchored the number 1 scoring defense in the NSFL (10.3 PPG), which makes any offense’s life easier. In the week 2 defensive struggle against the Austin Copperheads Vans essentially won Arizona the game single-handedly. He had a blocked punt and 4 sacks, including a strip sack that he then recovered and returned for the game’s only Touchdown. Vans followed that performance up the following week with 2 more sacks, including another strip recovery that lead to a Touchdown, which helped his team shut-out New Orleans. Through 4 games, Vans has 8 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 3 pass deflections, an interception, and a Touchdown. Good luck to all the Quarterbacks out there if Vans can continue this torrid pace. 3) Marquise Brown RB – Baltimore Hawks @YoungTB Another season, another paycheck for Marquise Brown. Brown has made it look easy ever since he got in the league and his 4.8 yards/carry average indicates he’s not showing signs of slowing down this year. Brown has 539 yards from scrimmage and 6 Touchdowns through 4 games. Brown has been an important playmaker for this team all year, and if they plan on repeating Brown will be a major part of the game plan considering rookie Quarterback Corvo Havran is trying to fill in some massive shoes left by Childish Gambino’s departure. 4) Sam Torenson RB – Chicago Butchers @Jonny2x The young-blood Sam Torenson is the last addition to this list of stars through 4 games. Torenson has been exceptional in the first four games of his career, and as he goes, so does the Butcher’s offense. In their 3-0 start to the year, Torenson racked up 373 yards on the ground to go along with 5 Touchdowns. In week 4’s loss to the defending champion Hawks, Torenson was held to 64 yards and 1 TD as he and the rest of the Butcher’s offense struggled to keep up. ![]() Graphic by: @Lowlycrib *Race for NSFL MVP - Week 4 - Jonny2x - 07-15-2019 (07-15-2019, 03:33 PM)TropicaliaCC Wrote:[SIZE=7] Valentine is the only player in the NSFL currently averaging over 1 Touchdown per game with 5 through 4 games. Guessing you mean receiver there as Brown, Gump and Torenson all have more touchdowns than games played. Appreciate the kind words. Sam already apologized in the LR for his lack of production against Baltimore. That will not happen again. *Race for NSFL MVP - Week 4 - TropicaliaCC - 07-15-2019 (07-15-2019, 04:42 PM)Jonny2x Wrote:Guessing you mean receiver there as Brown, Gump and Torenson all have more touchdowns than games played. Indeed, should’ve clarified receiving TDs. *Race for NSFL MVP - Week 4 - SwagSloth - 07-15-2019 We're proud of @karl.
