(S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - Admin - 06-26-2017 The trade deadline is just around the corner. Some teams will make a push for the Ultimus cup while others may be looking to add a couple draft picks. What will your team do? Requirements Written: Must include 200 words. Create a blockbuster trade deadline deal in the NSFL. Who is involved, which teams, and why? Or Graphic: Create a magazine cover centered around a blockbuster trade Payout Full Payout = 3 TPE Do not claim this TPE until a post is made in the claim thread. Deadline Saturday, July 1st, 11:59 PM PST (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - timeconsumer - 06-26-2017 With their eye on a S1 championships the Arizona Outlaws made big waves in the NSFL just hours before the closing of the trade deadline in hopes of securing their legacy. After moving their wide receiver King Bronko to quarterback the pass-happy team suddenly found themselves short a wide receiver for their 11, 02, and 20 personnel formations. They knew they had the right pieces with Stormblessed and Lincoln Jefferson, but lacking a third option they reached for the trading block, ready to spend big to try and land the Ultimus Cup. The Outlaws Front Office found a willing trade partner in San Jose. Wheeling and dealing for their third wideout there was a lot of back-and-forth between the two as to what it would take to pull a player from their offense. The Outlaws were determined however, and were willing to pay big. Finally, both sides settled on a solution, standout WR Bailey Cook would head down to the desert in exchange for Arizona's 1st and 2nd round picks and for their star offensive lineman, Alex Thomas. The sports media went nuclear after the deal was announced. Analysts and experts have been talking non-stop about the blockbuster deal that sent arguably the #1 wide receiver in the league to their division rival. Many people claimed that Arizona got fleeced on the deal, paying way too much for one wide receiver on a team not lacking for receiving talent. Others heralded it as the right move for both sides, San Jose getting more picks to rebuild after a terrible start to the season 1 and Arizona taking a shot for the championship, albeit behind a decimated offensive line. Only time will tell who came out a winner and a loser in this trade. (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - 7hawk77 - 06-26-2017 The San Jose Sabercats aren't looking good this year. There best bet is to play for the future. They already started this off by trading an extra DT for an active QB due to the fact that Jameis Christ has been under performing and not updating regularly. Most other teams are in play-off contention and it would be easy enough to see long term value gains by trading off high TPE players that aren't as active for less TPE players that are more active. A good example of this would be trading Alexander Selich for an active Defensive end. Unfortunately for the sabercats, one of their Defensive Ends is retiring, and between that and trading away Bert Metas, that leaves their defensive line pretty thin. They were having issues at LB but A. C. Hackett stepped up and they just got recruited another LB off of free agency. It's also possible that the sabercats could go in to total rebuild mode and try and trade players for draft picks as well... however this would be pretty risky (due to the fact that it's impossible to guess how active new players will be. Anyways, I have faith that the sabercats will turn it around and be a contender in the future, even if this year hasn't gone well for them. Code: 217 words (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - ErMurazor - 06-26-2017 The Sabercats seem to be in full rebuild mode. After a very slow start to the NSFL’s inaugural season it looks like the leadership in San Jose has decided to call the season a bust and move on to next year. In a pair of stunning moves they traded away their two best offensive linemen. Ben Longshaw, an early season favorite for best offensive lineman in the league is being shipped off to the Yellowknife Wraiths for two first round picks and this year’s second rounder. The Wraiths appear to be going for a win-now deal that will get them the first crack at a championship but hinder them in picking up future players. Center Tim Tebow has been traded to the Orange County Otters for DT Romeo Devitt and this year’s first rounder. It looks like the Otters are going to make the final push to win their conference and get a shot at this year’s championship after a strong string of games by their defense and power run game. A dedicated center could prove to be the final piece to the puzzle. The SaberCats will hope to use their draft capital to rebuild the offensive line they dismantled, with a promising draft of offensive line prospects ahead. They’re on their way to securing Gregor Clegane as their #1 pick in the draft and should have their choice of a few other players along the line, while also gaining capital for future seasons and a solid player on the defense. (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - Stormblessed - 06-26-2017 On Monday, the Wraiths shipped Josh Garden to the Colorado Yeti in a very bizarre trade. The Wraiths received the Yeti’s first and second round picks as well as next year’s first round pick in order to secure the high flying wide-out. There were a couple of reasons for the trade, league sources inform me. First, Garden is on an expiring contract, and is reportedly very unhappy with living in Yellowknife. He is believed to be in search of a new home this off-season where “green medicine” is more plentiful. The Wraiths wanted to get something from their superstar and the Yeti presented the best offer. What makes this deal especially bizarre, is that the Yeti are the Wraiths direct competition. They play in the same division and will likely meet in the playoffs. A source high up in the Wraiths organization told me that the feeling inside the building is the team is at least one year away. With a very strong rookie class this year, they wanted to acquire as many picks as they possibly could, even if that meant throwing away their chances of a title. The Wraiths faced a situation the Outlaws avoided this week, when they signed their star WR Stormblessed to a mega-bucks extension. No doubt, Garden is looking at a similar contract when he hits free agency. The Yeti will get the first crack at retaining him. 234 words (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - DrunkenTeddy - 06-26-2017 Here is my blockbuster deadline deal: The Yellowknife Wraiths request permission from the OC Otters to speak to Quarterback Bercovici. Permission was granted and the Wraiths have a long discussion with Bercovici about being traded to them and changing positions for a high paying contract. The trade would be as follows: To Yellowknife: Bercovici To Otters: S2 1st round pick Bercovici would then sign a 2 season contract with the Wraiths as follows: S2: 8m S3: 6m Bercovici would change positions to RB and replace Jack Stats as the 2nd option to run the ball. Bercovici wants to be part of the offense side of the ball, helping the team win on a regular basis and he has not enjoyed riding the bench in Orange County. With the option to get a huge payday and move to a position where he can make an impact, Berc would waive his no trade clause and accept the extension offered by the Wraiths. The Wraiths had come into the season thinking they had a great 1/2 punch at running back with Stats and Nuck, but now with Stats' lack of training for the last few weeks, they can fill the hole left by him with Berc. All details regarding the blockbuster trade are listed below. ![]() S2 #1 PICK ![]() WR Wizard Stephen WR Adam Bennett QB Logan Ryder S Pablo Sanchez CB Henri Rivere DT Trent Bender The lowly #6 ranked SaberCats have traded for a number of 2nd and 3rd string players whilst trading away their most valuable asset, the #1 pick in the S2 draft. This trade is surprising because nobody could believe the SaberCats could possibly be as incompetent off the pitch as they are on it. With this trade the SaberCats have likely secured their future level of mediocrity in a level of incompetence that only mirrors the Cleveland Browns front office. The Sabercats are likely to stay ranked last in the league in every possible category unless of course we get a recent expansion team soon. The Wraiths are likely to use this pick to pick up highly touted prospect CB Dermot Lavelle who has been in fine form this season as a waiver player and likely no doubt impress next year as a true rookie. 206 WORDS (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - Admin - 06-26-2017 A blockbuster trade is coming in the NSFL and you heard it here first on the NSFL Network! Our insider, Evan Schafter first broke the news of this deal that is sure to shake the NSFL world. ![]() S2 1st round pick S3 1st round pick ![]() CB - Matthew Peterson LB - Stephen Harrison As you can see the Yellowknife Wraiths are beefing up their defense to go for a deep playoff run towards the Ultimus cup. Adding Peterson gives them a long term option at CB who shores up their defensive back group and will hopefully shut down the rest of the teams in their division. Stephen Harrison immediately steps in beside Lindarius Shelton and gives them the best linebacker duo in the league. These two as well as Reginald Hampshireton will torture backs and tight ends who try to do anything past the line of scrimmage. With an already potent offense led by quarterback Chris Orosz, receiver Josh Garden, and running back Bubba Nuck, the Wraiths already have a star studded offense. Now with a stacked defense the Wraiths will be incredible hard to stop on game day. The team is mortgaging their future by sending away two first round picks but if they win it all then it is worth it 200+ words. (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - DefensiveJesus - 06-26-2017 With the sabrecats looking like the overwhelming worst team in the league, they will surely be looking to build for the future and acquiring draft picks. With that being said, they are looking to off-load possibly the best offensive lineman in the league in order to draft for more important positions in which they lack. The sabrecats will be trading Ben Longshaw to the Outlaws, for a first round draft pick as well as a second round draft pick. The Outlaws, with one of the most stifling defenses in the league, seem to be a few offensive pieces away from being a certain championship candidate. With the addition of Ben Longshaw it gives the outlaws more of a chance to gain momentum and lead them to the first championship. In another blockbuster trade, the Orange County Otters, who have recently come into an excess of defensive lineman will be trading Defensive end Lightskin Thor to the Colorado Yeti for Jonathan Shaloiko - WR. The yeti who are looking to improve the strength of their defense while the otters look to strengthen an offense who has struggled in the young season. This trade will make both teams stronger candidates for a championship run. |
