Here are two sets of data to scan through.

Set A: 165, 97, 185, 165, 134, 124, 196, 145, 130, 162, 103, 173, 168, 84, 134, 142, 261, 97, 91, 179, 40, 235, 147, 212;; overall sum = 3569;; average = 148.71

Set B: 86, 93, 205, 97, 88, 129, 194, 272, 126, 197, 144, 117, 114, 145, 118, 148, 134, 147, 124, 111, 160, 203, 131, 122;; overall sum = 3405;; average = 141.88

Now, for some context: Each individual value is the amount of yards a team generated on offense either through the air or on the ground. These numbers were gathered from the 6 weeks of Prospect Bowl action -- for example, the first value in Set A, 165, is the amount of yards the East Cobras generated in Week 1 of Prospect Bowl play from either passing or rushing. I have not yet told you if it was from rushing or passing, which is the point of this post. In going through the results of the games (and in between being salty of my player's poor performance), I noticed a trend. Here is that trend.

Set A are all of the team rushing yards in each game from the last 6 weeks of Prospect Bowl play. Set B are thusly the passing yards.

Conventional wisdom would lead you to believe that a team should have more passing yards than rushing yards. Yet, we see a trend of rushing being the majority focus on average of these 6 teams, as all teams have averaged 148.71 rushing yards per game, and all teams have averaged 141.88 passing yards per game.

This could lead us to a few possible conclusions. First, perhaps the QB play of each team hasn't been the strongest. Indeed, this has been part of the case -- in 12 games, we only saw 6 instances of a QB posting a passer rating of 80 or above, and we saw many cases of passer ratings in the 50's, 40's, 30's, and even a couple in the 20's.

Second, and related the first possibility, perhaps the WR play hasn't been strong. This could easily contribute as well, as no WR had a reception of more than 40 yards throughout any of the games, which strikes me as unusual.

Third, defenses could have been playing the pass well.

But fourth, and the point I want to focus on: I believe we have a strong crop of RB prospects on these teams. We consistently saw these RBs post average YPC's in the mid-4's throughout these games, which is a good benchmark for success.

So, no, the RB is not dead, as some talking heads and woke analysts for other professional football leagues would have you believe. The RB is very much alive and well. And the RB might dominate the NSFL in a few seasons if these prospects can keep it up.
