*S17 RB Rankings - Week 5 - SwagSloth - 09-06-2019

Honorable Mention - Tyler Swift NOLA @`BayleyIsland`
229 Rushing Yards (4.4 YPC), 1 Rushing TD, 17 catches for 166 Receiving Yards, 0 Receiving TDs

Previous Rank: Honorable Mention (No Change)

Honorable Mention - Marquise Brown PHI @YoungTB
345 Rushing Yards (3.8 YPC), 0 Rushing TDs, 20 catches for 108 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD

Previous Rank: Unranked (Rise)

#10 - Ashley Owens AUS @run_CMC
312 Rushing Yards (3.9 YPC), 2 Rushing TDs, 28 catches for 218 Receiving Yards, 0 Receiving TDs

Despite a big improvement in YPC, Owens falls behind the competition this week, taking a step back toward the back of the rankings, He was able to continue to build on his yards on the ground and in the air, but was unable to find the end zone these last 2 weeks.
Previous Rank: #7 (Fall)

#9 - Terry Taffy COL @KingCollins
451 Rushing Yards (3.5 YPC), 3 Rushing TDs, 12 catches for 75 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD

Taffy continues to battle for a spot in the rankings, rising up slightly this week. He was able to add 2 Touchdowns over the last 2 weeks and is moving in the right direction with his YPC. Most of his yards continue to come on the ground, but he’s proven to be able to catch the ball when it’s thrown his way.
Previous Rank: #10 (Rise)

#8 - Morgan Marshall :wraiths @Baron1898
307 Rushing Yards (4.2 YPC), 6 Rushing TDs, 6 catches for 48 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD

Marshall only added 105 rushing yards over the last 2 weeks and didn’t make a single catch, but he did pick up THREE rushing Touchdowns. He is currently tied for most rushing Touchdowns and holds the most total Touchdowns in the league from a RB, WR, or TE. This was a step backwards overall, but if he can continue to find the end zone this consistently, he’s likely to rise back up the list soon.
Previous Rank: #6 (Fall)

#7 - Jerrod Canton YKW @Sweetwater
100 Rushing Yards (3.8 YPC), 0 Rushing TDs, 31 catches for Receiving 482 Yards, 5 Receiving TDs

Amazingly, Canton added 18 catches for 323 yards and 2 Receiving Touchdowns over the last 2 weeks. Those would be fantastic numbers from a WR, most less a RB that also added 58 rushing yards. Canton continues to operate as a jack of all trades on a team that clearly likes to pass the ball. He also holds claim to 5 receiving Touchdowns, tying him with WR Vinny Valentine for the most receiving Touchdowns in the league.
Previous Rank: #9 (Rise)

# 6 - Mako Mendonca AUS @Mooty99
343 Rushing Yards (4.0 YPC), 1 Rushing TD, 24 catches for 235 Receiving Yards, 4 Receiving TDs

Mendonca generated a lot of buzz after working his way into the rankings last time and he continues to take a big step forward this time around as well. He not only improved his YPC and added 142 rushing yards, but he also added 11 catches for 151 yards, adding a total of 293 yards from scrimmage. On top of that, he added three receiving Touchdowns. The Copperheads have surprised the league with 2 big wins so far this season and Mendooca’s willingness to step up has played a big role.
Previous Rank: #8 (Rise)

#5 - Sam Torensen CHI @Jonny2x
588 Rushing Yards (4.3 YPC), 3 Rushing TDs, 4 catches for 52 Receiving Yards, 0 Receiving TDs

Torensen continues to slide up and down the list, but he does remain the top 5 this time. He added 234 rushing yards and 2 rushing Touchdowns, but wasn’t able to stay involved in the passing game. The Butchers are a team that aren’t afraid to rely on the running game, leading the league in total rushing yards, and that rushing attack clearly runs through Sam Torensen.
Previous Rank: #3 (Fall)

#4 - Dorfus Jimbo BAL @ScorpXCracker
543 Rushing Yards (5.0 YPC), 0 Rushing TDs, 10 catches for 107 Receiving Yards, 0 Receiving TDs

After gracing the top of the rankings, Dorfus Jimbo reverts back to the number 4 spot 2 weeks later. He was able to pile up some decent yards on the ground and got much more involved in the passing attack, adding 7 catches for 70 receiving yards after only seeing 3 catches in the first 3 weeks. However, his inability to reach the end zone after 5 games has proven to be his biggest obstacle so far as he is the only RB on this list not to have a rushing or receiving Touchdown to his name.
Previous Rank: #1 (Fall)

#3 - Forrest Gump NOLA @TomHanks
384 Rushing Yards (3.9 YPC), 6 Rushing TDs, 27 catches for 241 Receiving Yards, 0 Receiving TDs

Gump’s claim to fame so far this season has been rushing Touchdown volume and he continues to shine in that area, adding 2 more Touchdowns over the last 2 weeks, tying him with Morgan Marshall for the most rushing Touchdowns in the league so far this season. He also improved steadily on his YPC and has proven to be a capable weapon for the Second Line, functioning efficiently as both a rusher and receiver.
Previous Rank: #5 (Rise)

#2 - Slim Shady ARI @J.G.10
423 Rushing Yards (5.2 YPC), 3 Rushing TDs, 21 catches for 165 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD

After falling to #2 last update, Shady managed to hold tight onto that spot on account of his YPC. currently boasting the highest YPC by any RB on this list. The Outlaws’ focus on the passing game this season has capped his rushing upside, but he did add 2 Touchdowns. Between his ability to score points and his efficiency on the ground, Shady has remained just involved enough to defend his spot here.
Previous Rank: #2 (No Change)

#1 - Apollo Reed OCO @NylarthePhoenix
498 Rushing Yards (4.4 YPC), 4 Rushing TDs, 20 catches for 135 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving TD

Apollo has found himself consistently in the top 5 for this season and, after 2 solid performances over the last 2 weeks, he finds himself on the top of the rankings. He isn’t a player that necessarily shines in one specific category, but everything he does, he does well. He’s proven to be a constant threat for opposing defenses, averaging almost 100 yards per game and 27 yards in the air every game. He also has found the end zone 6 times, four times on the ground and twice in the air. Apollo Reed is proof that versatility goes a long way.
