Defering draft class - sapp2013 - 10-10-2019
DSFL players who have yet to be drafted into the NSFL can defer their draft class up to 3 times. This means that a player originally going to be drafted to the nsfl in S19 can choose to be drafted in S20, S21, or S22 as well as S19.
- the player will maintain their regression class. In the example above, regardless of when the player was drafted into the NSFL, if they created for the S19 class, they will regress starting in S26.
- players still may not surpass the 250 tpe maximum for the DSFL.
- allow users to have a "college feel" to the DSFL.
- players who want to be drafted higher may defer to help bump up their TPE for the next draft.
- balances out draft classes better so we don't have 80 picks in one draft and 20 picks in the next.
- adds another variable to NSFL GMs while drafting as they have to weigh the effects of some players regressing sooner into their NSFL career than others.

This is an interesting idea IMO.
The hardest part would be tracking the original season for regression. Maybe it could be like
(S19) S - Player Name
and it would become
(S19 -> S21) S - Player Name

my thought would be go and fix all the previous players years and just use the DSFL draft year. you would then change the rules to extend regression by 1 year, which would be the exact same if you go off the DSFL draft year.
i.e.
S19 NSFL draft -> S26 regression (7 seasons)
S18 DSFL draft -> S26 regression (8 seasons) can be drafted in to NSFL S19-S22

I just want to give my support for the idea! I'm not sure that its the best way to implement the idea, but its a solid idea and I think it could be awesome with some tinkering. I know multiple players who wanted to stay on their DSFL teams for a season or two before this last draft. Something like this would put the power in the players' hands instead of the GMs'.

I'd rather not overhaul every single player page, just the ones that deferred (as needed)
I definitely like the idea of possibly spreading the larger draft classes over several draft classes as opposed to one ridiculous 10+ round draft every 3 seasons, followed by 2-3 round baby drafts.

Also to note, Dermot/White Cornerback and I had a discussion in the Discord chat regarding switching the DSFL teams to be flavored like fictional college teams i.e. University of Portland Pythons or Kansas City College Coyotes. Reflavor everything to be college. There were discussions of this a while ago, but I dont feel like linking it. There was some disinterest in that specific idea, but I am open to discuss that again.
