Ranking NSFL Team Offences prior to S18 start
Time to focus on the other side of the ball. The rooster I created for each team assumed the QB, 2 x RB, 3 x WR, TE, OL (100 TPE for T1, 200 for T2 and so on, 1:1 for user's OL that we have 2, for now it will work, but likely will have to modify formula later on) & the Kicker. I pondered about using some weighted TPE formula since RB #1 is more important than RB #2 almost always, similarly with WRs. Some teams lacked bodies for tight end position, I couldn't even find RB/WR to slide over there. And my pondering resulted in the following weighted overall used for final ratings:
- 14% QB
- 12% RB #1
- 6% RB #2
- 13% WR #1
- 10% WR #2
- 5% WR #3
- 9% TE
- 25% OL
- 6% K/P

Last year: They were able to make postseason, but offence already already stalled and that was with Jolliet Christ still playing on high level and third best passing yards offence.
Strength: Offensive Line is probably the best given the spendings they made there, but they don't really have anyone else to make plays for. Let's see if the best OL can make worst RB looking like at least like a decent one.
Biggest need: Sabercats thankfully have QB successor, but their receiving corps have been decimated and situation is not getting better with Flash playing his last season.
How to defend? Play unusual scheme and double up on pressuring O-Line to overmatch them and prevent any gaps from creating, while leaving rest of the receivers in man-to-man coverage, most of them are not skilled enough to beat their defenders.

Last year: It was a pleasant surprise for all the fans with really efficient offense, despite lacking some top tier talent - they were among top rushing teams.
Strength: While it's slowly transitioning to more pass centric offence with Stan Francisco growth, team still should ride or die by Forrest Gump running. O-line might be low-key game changer too with one of two active OLs in the NSFL.
Biggest need: That receiving is just not going to cut it for now if they are to fight for biggest trophies. Fyodorovich is on verge of dying and replacements are still young.
How to defend? Shutdown the run game and trust your secondary to defend sub-par receivers and tight end.
8. Orange County Otters Personnel:

Last year: Third straight NSFC team on the list. They were really efficient in terms of point scored despite second worst yard gains, their rush was ok, but pass offence struggled at times.
Strength: Young at key positions of QB & RB & WRs should become good starting point for likely rebuild that awaits this offence. Their star this season should be TE Johny Blaze.
Biggest need: OL is among worst, despite not having other players that should carry the offence so maybe spending there could be good investment. WR depth could use reinforcements too.
How to defend? It's hard to guess what will be focus of this offence, but given nothing obviously popping out it might be balanced approach focused around Johny Blaze and steady gains. Key will be to break OL in order to pass rush efficiently and against this particular linesmans should be not overly hard task.

Last year: They almost made it past Sabercats last year, but it wasn't offence they should have thanked for that. They have youngest QB that still needs a couple of years to be focal point of offence, so will likely focus on running like in S17.
Strength: OL while ranked 3rd could very well end-up as the best with another active O-Lineman in the NSFL, which should make their already competitive run game even more dangerous.
Biggest need: Time, they are rather young all-around with developing players, maybe need more talent in the receiving department, since atm it seems they have only 2 on the rooster.
How to defend? Similarly to NOLA focus on rush prevention, tough dynamic duo at WR might be risky to leave to man-to-man coverage.

Biggest need: Even though Rose is steadily improving and around average now with just a single decent receiver she needs many better targets to become really impactful.
How to defend? If you read two previous paragraphs it's rather clear you need to focus on defending the rush.

Last year: Yeti was probably the worst team ever to win 5 games and while their defense was bad, offence was just abysmal.
Strength: Best receiver in the game can be a game-changer, or at least yards machine before getting to red-zone where he is too tightly guarded.
Biggest need: Similarly to Austin they have really promising young core, what they need is couple more seasons to develop and maybe upgrade OL by then.
How to defend? Shut down Bishop, either by double-teaming or pressuring QB into quick plays before Bishop is able to lose the defenders.
4. Philadelphia LibertyPersonnel:

Strength: It's quite balanced team with threats all around, Falconi still is Top 4 QB and with likely swan song season likely to put up her best show.
Biggest need: QB replacement is developing, but soon enough receiving corps will get hit like a truck, similarly to the lacking of true Tight End.
How to defend? While they are good all around Offensive Line is subpar (unless they make upgrades this year, since I assumed last years without new post so far) so abusing their ability to block might be good way to spoil Torenson & Falconi parade as one of the most capable QB&RB punches in the league currently.
3. Arizona OutlawsPersonnel:

Last year: The best team last year built the offensive dominance upon air raid vehicle known as Andrew Reese. While receivers are still top in the conference the most of the core is regressing and season older.
Strength: Reese is still QB in the league and you can bet Outlaws will focus on him as main playmaker, especially while Valentine and Parker are still troublesome players to cover.
Biggest need: Youth injection - only WR #3 by committee and tight end Lawes are younger than S15. They are likely to follow Sabercats footsteps in season or two and turn from top to bottom offence.
How to defend? Much depends on OL that still isn't confirmed, so if they are able to secure at least average one good luck in preventing Reese from torching and tearing your coverages apart. Shady still should be of huge help in the last 10, but otherwise you should focus all efforts on stopping the pass game.

Last year: They were the best team last year and offence should take even bigger step ahead with Bigsby entering his prime.
Strength: Running backs should be able to tear into opposing team defenses forming most formidable 1&2 punch, but as mentioned Bigsby is as good QB threat as any other in the league and has 2nd best receiving corps to target.
Biggest need: Blocking might be a huge liability, especially against best of defensive lines. With no true tight end on a team and cheapest O-Line in the league opponents might try to either save on rushers or turn it into even bigger liability.
How to defend? It's such a well built team on big positions that your defense has to be able to cover 2 Top receivers and shutdown 2 Top WRs, while being able to pressure Top 3 Quarterback. Still, at least it seems doable as you can try to abuse lackluster O-Line and no true blocking threats outside of that.

Last year: Havran truly shined in premium role. Starting RB switched to S to help LB depth and it might cost them a bit this year.
Strength: Passing threats are not comparable to any other team in the league - Corvo is coming of fantastic year and has at his disposal 2 great, 1 good wide receivers and veteran tight end.
Biggest need: Once calling card of Hawks was running backs winning trophies year in and year out theirs philosophy changed and only Sabercats seems less intimidating over there. They are also aging and this might be final year of this contention period in true contender status.
How to defend? Double up on coverages and don't forget about L'Alto being versatile threat.
Data sheet. It was nice once again looking at other side of the ball and maybe I'll wrap this with summary overall article tomorrow and more graphical presentation with graphs.

I’ll start by saying excellent article, cause, it is.
However I’ll have u know 1. I dropped. 90 TPE update
2. You say Austin doesn’t have a WR3... Mendonca and I are both receiving backs. I’d say our combined 1,339 receiving yards makes for a pretty good “WR3”
And rushing didn’t suffer since even with both of us always on the field, the rusher combined to 1539 yards on the ground :eyes:

Good for you with the update, but I won't go through individual update pages instead of using the tracker lol. Same can be probably said about ton of other players so it should even out at least somewhat
As for lack of WR3 and using RB1/2 instead - you are included otherwise and that's just methodology I used - leaving rb1/2 open instead of wr3 wouldn't increase weighted score. Of course in weird world of ddspf it might have worked out better than my ranking suggest. And despite all impressive individual accolades this article was more so meant at measuring team aspect (with only TPE bear in mind, so some things like strategies used, builds etc. isn't included) Austin offence was below average last year.
