That conditional is... strange.
It leaves the possibility open of Baltimore only having to give up a second round pick, while still getting to extend Poopsie’s contract, if they just do it after the trade deadline?

You're right, shoulda used ultimus instead of trade deadline. But we're not gonna do that. Plan to extend him right away
