*Swag's S18 RB Rankings - SwagSloth - 11-13-2019
Many people seemed to enjoy my RB rankings last season. Unfortunately, being super busy this season made it difficult to keep the trend going mid-season, but I did want to post something after the regular season ended. It’s a bit overdue, but here are the current results. As a reminder, we’re using the same algorithm from last season, which rewards rushers with higher YPC in order to account for high volume inflation.
Honorable Mention - Farley Hank
@Beebob0 Rushing Yards 0 Rushing TDs
70 catches for 850 Receiving Yards, 6 Receiving TDs
Honorable Mention - Apollo Reed
@NylarthePhoenix748 Rushing Yards (4.4 YPC), 5 Rushing TDs
19 catches for 93 Receiving Yards, 0 Receiving TDs
Honorable Mention - Marcella Toriki
@bex889 Rushing Yards (4.1 YPC), 4 Rushing TDs
8 catches for 47 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD
#10 - Ludicolo Bigsby
@TheWoZy585 Rushing Yards (4.2 YPC), 6 Rushing TDs
46 catches for 336 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD
Bigsby makes an appearance on this list after making the move to Baltimore, which clearly worked out for him. A void opened up as Dorfus Jimbo moved to Safety, allowing Bisgby to take over the bulk over the carries for the Hawks. He totalled over 900 yards from scrimmage and scored 7 total Touchdowns. Quite a breakout year if I say so myself.
#9 -Jerrod Canton
@Sweetwater194 Rushing Yards (3.3 YPC), 1 Rushing TD
75 catches for 915 Receiving Yards, 6 Receiving TDs
Canton established himself as a dedicated receiver last season and stayed true to that role over again, earning the most catches and receiving yards by any RB. There are a lot of mouths to feed in Yellowknife, but Canton made sure to go out with a bang.
#8 - Mako Mendonca
@Mooty99645 Rushing Yards (4.1 YPC), 4 Rushing TDs
56 catches for 497 Receiving Yards, 7 Receiving TDs
Despite sharing a committee with fellow Copperhead Ashley Owens, Mako Mendonca holds claim to the most receiving Touchdowns by a RB this season. He split a lot of time between receiving and rushing, but managed to perform admirably in both areas.
#7 - Ashley Owens
@run_CMC623 Rushing Yards (3.5 YPC), 7 Rushing TDs
67 catches for 692 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving TDs
Like Mendonca, Owens found his ceiling capped by a RBBC situation, but he managed to make the most of it. He did struggle a bit in YPC, but was impressive in the red zone, almost scoring double-digit Touchdowns. Mendonca and Owens both seem to be capable of being a lead back in this league and Austin must count itself blessed to have them both in its arsenal.
#6 - Morgan Marshall
@Baron1898893 Rushing Yards (4.0 YPC), 14 Rushing TDs
55 catches for 286 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD
Like fellow YKW RB Jerrod Canton, Marshall also declared that this would be his last season. Apparently, the Canadian North is unkind to RBs. However, he made it a season to remember with 14 Rushing TDs. He holds claim to both the most rushing Touchdowns this season as well as the total Touchdowns by any non-Quarterback player.
#5 - Slim Shady
@J.G.10997 Rushing Yards (4.5 YPC), 7 Rushing TDs
50 catches for 259 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving TDs
Somehow, Shady has managed to continue to carve out a role for himself despite finding himself in regression. Shady barely missed the 1000 rushing yard mark, but did manage to achieve the highest YPC by any RB with over 250 rushing yards. It’s hard to tell how many big seasons are left for one of Arizona’s most consistent players, but he certainly must be proud to find himself in the top 5 once again.
#4 - Terry Taffy
@KingCollins897 Rushing Yards (4.4 YPC), 3 Rushing TDs
61 catches for 560 Receiving Yards, 3 Receiving TDs
Terry Taffy is another name that’s fallen off the radar these last few years and he was back with a vengeance this season, proving himself as one of the most versatile RBs around. This season was a step forward for the Yeti and Taffy clearly channeled that very mindset, making several positive adjustments of his own. He doesn’t excel in any single category, but he’s as well-rounded as they come.
#3 - Marquise Brown
@YoungTB825 Rushing Yards (4.2 YPC), 4 Rushing TDs
61 catches for 752 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD
Many doubted whether Marquise Brown’s down season in S17 was a sign of things to come, but a change of scenery seemed to be all it took for one of the greatest RBs of all time to return to glory. Brown didn’t find the end zone very often, but he was effective in both the air and on the ground, picking up almost as many yards from receiving as he did in rushing. Reports indicate that this will be his last season; this isn’t the first time he’s contemplated retirement, but it’s hard to blame him for wanting this performance to be his swan song.
#2 - Sam Torensen
@Jonny2x1270 Rushing Yards (4.2 YPC), 8 Rushing TDs
38 catches for 273 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD
Many questioned whether Torensen’s unparalleled early success in his first two seasons were the result of pure natural talent or just a good situation. Torensen seemed determined to prove himself by moving to a new team and he was indeed able to prove that he is the real deal. The sky remains the limit for this young man as he seems to be a rising star regardless of his location.
#1 - Forest Gump
@TomHanks1380 Rushing Yards (4.0 YPC), 11 Rushing TDs
46 catches for 287 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD
Forrest Gump danced in and out of the top 5 last season, but this season was much different as he dominated the position, making him the clear top choice. And, with these stats, it’s not hard to see why. New Orleans caught a lot of teams off-guard with their strides forward this season and Gump gets credit for a big part of that success.

Great article my guy! Really enjoyed this last season and was missing it this season. Though for me it would have been a broken record week after week, when is Torenson going to break out?
