Offseason is upon us again. News has already rained down to us in only a day. Players opting out and trades being made. It's the most exciting time of the year. As fun as it is there is also some heartbreak.
I don't want to be that guy but I'm going to be that guy. I've made a lot of friends in this league and met some great people but sometimes you have to say or do something that will make those friends look at you in a different light. I've been thinking about this all week and finally have got the courage to say what's been on my mind.
Ultimus Week is overrated.
Every season its the same thing. "Look guys ultimus week get all this TPE". I like TPE as much as anybody, maybe not Isa or Murtsi, but I like my TPE. Ultimus Week is supposed to be this jackpot of riches that you can tap into to make your player so much better.
But its lost its magic. TPE Santa quit visiting the Hall house as much. How many times can I write about "Why was your team an underdog" or "Tell us how your team has improved". Its just 200 words of gibberish pretending to care about QB matchups or why my team got screwed by a tiebreaker. It's like going to Thanksgiving and hearing your uncle tell the same joke for the hundredth time or that war story from your grandpa that you don't care about because hes an old boomer that doesnt get you.
Where is that spark? Maybe Ultimus Week and I need to try something different in bed. Maybe I should try some foreplay by breaking down week 13 matchups to warm the TPE up before diving into Ultimus Week. Maybe Ultimus Week needs some new moves. Maybe ask me about my opinion of which trade affected the playoffs the most or how team color correlates to success or maybe why YKW can be such a powerhouse but forget how to play when it matters most. Ultimus Week was so much fun when we were younger but now we both go to bed and play on our phones and just do each other because its tradition not because we want to. Maybe we aren't meant for each other anymore and I should start earning TPE a different way. Maybe Max earning isn't worth it.
The playoffs are a wonderful time and I love watching the same four teams go at it every season with maybe a surprise team every other season but Ultimus Week is just feeling like a distant ex. We had our fun and we'll never forget each other but we just grew up and moved on.
So to you, Ultimus Week and all the people who will disagree, I say this, Its overrated and we've been molded into liking it not because it's fun but because it's a necessity to survive.

I can’t tell if this is serious or if this is a shitpost, but I’m gonna take it seriously and agree with you.
Ultimus Week is tired, with most of the questions recycled for the past bajillion years by now. The TPE from it is actually less than a normal week of Trivia + PT + 2-3 Weekly Predictions (10 vs. ~13) with more effort required to get it. This isn’t attacking anybody who does all the hard work of setting up Ultimus Week, it’s just that I wish there could be more creative prompts or new ideas than the typical 15 standard questions and 1-2 new questions each year. It’s tedious.

I agree that it's "overrated" to an extent. It gets boring after so many times, just like every other TPE task. But, that's exactly what separates the really active users that want their players to have HoF careers and the mildly active players that just enjoy the community and watching their player in the sim. You have to suffer through the boring tasks to be a max earner and be recognized as one of the greatest. I may be taking this too far, because it is just a football sim lol, but that's just my thoughts on the subject. I definitely agree though, that after a certain point, it loses its appeal, nothing really changes or brings a fresh sense of excitement.

they've said many times that if we have ideas for other topics and choices on what to write about, to suggest them
the available list has actually been expanded a few times in fact
so if yall have anything good, by all means please please suggest them to.....whoever is in charge of that now...i dont think tis red anymore

i took Hall seriously for once.
It turned out he was lying and he murdered me.
But for real, Ultimus Week should be worth at least 16 - 20 TPE and should have more options. SHL has done a pretty good revamp of their CW recently.
The biggest problem in the NSFL is the unwillingness to change and improve the player experience in different ways. It's like this place holds TPE/money so close to the vest for some reason. Give out a few more TPE and make Ultimus week better. Give out some more cash to people who do jobs. Everywhere else does that, maybe its time we shouldn't be the one sim league that's always resistant to some changes. It's like we're actively refusing to progress and keep pace with the other communities. idk.
