Best Steals of the Season 1 Draft - Darnellthebeast - 06-30-2017 [div align=\\\"center\\\"]Our analysts will by going over the best steals in the draft in round ten and later. These players were generally overlooked and expected to be starters, but nothing more. However, these select few have shown that you can be a star in the NSFL despite a late draft pick.[/div] Note: Players are in no particular order. Orange County Otters - Cliff Hamilton - OL - 19th Round Hamilton, the 109th overall pick of the NSFL's inaugural draft, has proven to be one of the best picks of the draft. Hamilton is 7th in pancakes, but what really sets him apart is his protection. Hamilton has only allowed one sack on the entire season, which makes him one of two players with serious playing time to allow less than two sacks ten weeks into the season. Hamilton's 33:1 pancake-sack ratio also gives him the second best ratio for offensive lineman, only behind Angus Winchester. Hamilton's fantastic protection so far gives him a strong argument as one of the top three lineman in the NSFL. Orange County Otters - Leroy Jenkins - RB - 10th Round Leroy Jenkins has made himself a clear threat at the running back position. Averaging 4.8 yards per carry, the gap between him and the next top running back in yards per carry is a meaningful .3 yards. The last pick of the tenth round has emerged as a top running back in the NSFL, taking the fifth most attempts of all running backs and using them to become fourth in rushing yards. Jenkins isn't just a one trick pony either; he also has managed to catch 13 passes for 104 yards(6th among RBs). As a tenth round pick, Jenkins has easily surpassed the expectations placed upon him by most at the beginning of the season. Orange County Otters - Robert Phelps - WR - 13th Round Phelps, the 73rd overall pick of the season one draft, has established himself as a member of the top tier receivers. He is third in receiving yards, and one of only five players who are over 700 yards prior to week 11 games. He also leads the league in receptions, making him a constant target in the Otters' pass happy offense. While Phelps wasn't initially considered to be at the same level as first round picks such as Damien West and Josh Garden, he has definitely shown that he can keep up with the league's top receivers. Yellowknife Wraiths - Trent Bender - DT - 23rd Round Trent Benders success this season seems to be a surprise to everyone. Nobody put much stock in the 134th overall pick from the University of Florida, however Bender has proven the doubters wrong. Bender leads the entire league in sacks with 11, while also being 5th in tackles for defensive tackles. Bender consistently makes game changing plays, and definitely has an argument as top defensive tackle in the league. Baltimore Hawks - Kurt Hendrix - LB - 10th Round Hendrix thus far has emerged as one of the top line backers in the league. While he does lack the big time plays such as sacks and interceptions, he makes up for it with consistent tackling. Hendrix leads the league with 103 tackles and is the only player with more than 100 tackles. In addition, he's recorded two forced fumbles on the season. Hendrix has already made himself worth the pick with has great tackling skills. If he can manage to make a few more impact plays, Hendrix can emerge as the linebacker in the league. Colorado Yeti - Johnathon Saint - LB - 10th Round Picked just two picks after Hendrix, Saint has also made a huge impact on the game. While Hendrix excels in his tackling, Saint is the opposite; he excels in big time plays. Saint has 10 sacks on the season, three more than the next best linebacker. His 10 sacks make him tie for 2nd in the league in sacks. His coverage is good too, with him having 3 passes defensed and an interception. While it's not his specialty, Saint also makes an impact with his tackling, acquiring 72 tackles placing him at 7th in the league for tackles. Saint has already shown he was worth his pick, rounding out a very strong 10th round. Arizona Outlaws - Isaiah Rashad - SS - 18th Round Perhaps the best value pick of them all is Isaiah Rashad with the 103rd overall pick. Rashad, a leader for the defensive player of the year award, leads the league in passes defensed and interceptions. However, the most incredible aspect is the margin by which he leads the league in interceptions; Rashad has eight, with the next closest defender having four. Rashad has twice the amount of interceptions as the next defender! Rashad doesn't take plays off in the run game either; he is 4th among safeties for tackles. Rashad's defensive player of the year-esque season has made him a fantastic pick for the Arizona Outlaws. San Jose Sabercats - Tim Tebow - OL - 20th Round Tebow has demonstrated excellent value for a 117th overall pick. He has 32 pancakes(T-9th) and has only allowed two sacks on the season(T-3rd for all OL w/8+ games played). With how important strength is for lineman, they're typically easy to scout, however Tebow clearly flew under the radar. The San Jose Sabercats made a great value pick by adding Tebow to their roster. San Jose Sabercats - Break Bottles - TE - 14th Round Finishing off our list is Break Bottles of the San Jose Sabercats. While tight ends have looked weak receiving wise this year, Bottles has remained in the top tier of TE's in terms of both yardage and receptions sporting 303 yards and 46 catches. Typically, coaches don't expect too much from picks late into the draft, however Bottles has shown that despite the round you were chosen, you can still make a top tier impact.
