*Andrew Reese Makes a Major Announcement - SwagSloth - 12-24-2019
A few days after the final game of the S19 season, Andrew Reese is scheduled to meet with several members of the media for a press conference. He has just completed the final game of his career and is now officially retired. Reese walks to the podium dressed in a suit and begins to address the reporters.
"I'm going to make a brief statement and will be taking questions at a separate event later on. The important thing is to get the news out there, so that the team can focus on moving forward. As you all know, I revealed earlier this season that this would be my final season playing at Quarterback. There was some discussion on the matter, but after meeting with my doctors a few weeks ago, I felt that it was best to make that decision official regardless of the outcome of the season. Obviously, this wasn't the storybook ending I wanted, but wins don't come easy in this league and that's what makes the specail moments really stand out. I'm proud to have had the chance to play QB in this league, to win the QB of the Year award last season alongside Corvo Havran, and to have won a championship with this team in S16. I'm so honored to have had the opportunity to play with men like Vinny Valentine, Kazimir Oles, Raymond Vans, Bucky Barnes, Dean Jackson, and so many others. And I'm proud to have had the chance to work with so many promising young athletes that will one day get mentioned in the same light as those guys. Walking away is never easy, but the truth is that my health wasn't the only factor in my decision to return. I had an opportunity placed in front of me that I couldn't pass up and, now that my career as a player is behind me, I can finally make that announcement. Starting next season, I will be the new GM for the Arizona Outlaws.
"I've had a lot of conversations with our previous GM, Miss Danvers, and she's been a great mentor to me. Without going into too many details, Miss Danvers has decided to take a step back in order to focus on her personal life and will be continuing to work with the team in a different capacity going forward. The role of a GM takes a lot of time and I'm grateful for all the time she's dedicated to this organization. And I also look forward to personally taking on this challenge. To me, retirement is not a step back, but a step forward. I've been there in the huddle, calling shots on the fly, and now I'm going to have the opportunity to do that on a larger scale. This team trusts me and I have the same faith in our players. We have a great young Quarterback ready to follow in my footsteps and, hopefully, surpass what I accomplished during my time in the league. I look forward watching him make his mark on this league. And I'm excited about the long-term direction of this team. With any major transition, it does take time to make the right adjustments, but the Outlaws are a team that has made a lot of positive steps in the last few seasons with the help of Miss Danvers and I'm excited to get the chance to build upon the great work that she's done for this team."
