The OLine/DLine Proposal: Updated - AdamS - 02-01-2020

So some time ago I put in an idea about allowing people who make an oline and dline player at the same time. The cliff notes version is that ti would help with interest in retention in both positions, as well as perhaps cutting down on the need for (and cost of) bots. There was moderate interest and discussion and then I took the idea and discussed more with GMs and HO.

What I now have is a somewhat more fleshed out version that I'm gonna throw out here for the league itself to discuss. Here's where we're at with the potential idea. Which is still a long way from being a real proposal yet mind you.

-Players would have the option of creating one when they created the other.
(Not a requirement)

-It would be exclusive to newly created players, so those with existing players could not simply add a 2nd player.
(Sorry, 700 TPE players, no insta 2nd star for you)

-The two players would have separate roster and update pages and the person handling them would be required to update both.
(For ease to the updaters, as this would essentially just turn them into two normal updates/pages which si the simplest way to accomplish that as per discussions with updaters themselves).

-The two players would be drafted together with a single pick at both levels and any contracts would be together.
(No untethering)

-At the NSFL level the two players would share TPE in terms of contract minimums. They would also only receive half the money.
(IE the team is paying for both players but the handler is only getting paid for one. This will encourage higher than minimum contracts as well. And the team is already saving money comparatively and getting an amazing value for it.)

-The person handling the players would only receive money for one of the players.
(They're not being charged double so they dont earn double).

-Purchases would count once for both.
(No doubling down on extra equipment)

-TPE opportunities would count once for both.
(No doubling down on earning tpe for two wiki pages, etc)

-Teams would be able to call one up to NSFL while keeping the other down in DSFL for longer
(Oline takes longer to season so this is a practical benefit)

So these things are more or less where it stands. I'm opening this up to further discussion ad ideas and interest gaging as well. I will say that this is already considered to be slightly OP for a few people so I wouldn't maybe suggest anything MORE valuable. Primarily streamlines, implementation ideas, etc. Also of note, due to S21 and S22 being very large, this idea isn't intended as an immediate one. Nor do I want to rush this as I feel that if done correctly, it can revamp interest and longevity for our two weakest positions. And help with budgetary issues. And give Manic a headache. I'll be combing through the thread as I have time answering questions and debating/discussing/asking questions about your ideas and thoughts.

And i forgot to mention one already.

Changing positions with one player retires the other.

Bump, this idea sounds awesome!

I agree with Mooty

The OLine/DLine Proposal: Updated - gucci - 02-01-2020

Great way to make OL relevant again imo.

The OLine/DLine Proposal: Updated - Jaspers - 02-01-2020

Hard agree with these points.

The OLine/DLine Proposal: Updated - timeconsumer - 02-01-2020

Might need to workshop some of it but I think at it's core it's a viable concept.

Get to draft two players with one pick. Whole lotta lineman about to shoot into round 1.

The OLine/DLine Proposal: Updated - Kyle - 02-01-2020

Current D-lineman should be included. In no way am I saying that because of my being a d-lineman..

The OLine/DLine Proposal: Updated - HENDRIX 2.0 - 02-01-2020

Very interesting idea.

How would this work with drafting?
