*Dougie Smalls talks NSFL Draft - iseedoug - 02-16-2020 NSFL Network reporting from Tijuana. We caught up with DSFL Rookie Kicker Sensation, Dougie Smalls, after his post-season workout to hear his thoughts on the upcoming NSFL draft. Reporter: "What are you expectations for the draft?" Smalls: "I expect to the be the first kicker off the board. I have shown I can kick with the best of them this season, despite having few red zone opportunities. I am a two-time offensive player of the game already, and I'm a kicker. I am clearly better than several of the current kickers in the big league, and I expect to take someones job." Reporter: "Is there a team you want to draft you? Any demands before you sign a contract?" Smalls: "Yeah there are a few teams I am eyeing. At the end of the day, I want to be in an organization with a front office I can trust to put winning teams together each season. I will do my job and they will do theirs. As far as demands go, I have to be the guy at kicker. If I am going to break career records at the position, I can't be moved around, no matter what my athletic ability suggest I can do. I am cool not being the punter, but am also happy to play both positions if needed. But I will not sign a contract if I am the punter, but not the kicker. Have to look out for my career goals." Reporter: "Any chance you will name those teams?" Smalls: "Lets just say there are some teams that made the playoffs this season that I trust to put me and the team in a winning position. And I have talked to some GMs and told them who I trust. So, the people who need to know, know. I am willing to sign a very long term contract with guys I trust." Reporter: and there you have it folks. Smalls wants to a winner. |
