*The Expansion. Part 3? - retrospace111 - 02-18-2020
The NSFL is a modern, ever changing league. This means that it's rapidly expanding, with an increasing draft class this season. The upcoming S22 draft class is the largest in the history of the NSFL, meaning that we need to make space for it. The DSFL is an optimal league to expand, and the rumors are already churning, and numerous sources have confirmed for me that an expansion is arriving to the DSFL, in the form of 8 teams. This is just what we need for an expanding league. Sources close to me gave me the number 242, as of now, 1 day before the Ultimis. This is an insanely large compared to the S21 class, which was only 109. The S20 draft class was only around 30. The challenge presented is now whether or not a 12 team expansion is necessary for the NSFL. Sources close to the HO say the HO is considering a 12 team expansion, and they "[are] running numbers", presumably for practicality purposes. The current playoff structure is "meh", with playoffs relatively easy to get in. Every team has a 60% chance to get in, which is too high. Regular season success has deteriorated in value, and if you are lucky, you can win minimal amounts of games and still have a chance to play in the Ultimis. Switching to a 12 team system with 6 teams in the playoffs would be much better, increasing the value of regular season performance. Will the NSFL and DSFL be able to perform with all the new players coming through? There are ridiculously high amounts of people for certain positions, and the question that gets asked a lot if whether or not there will be space for all these people. The league is going to get more cutthroat now, much more active. It is time for a new regime, but the HO must handle this properly. This is a golden opportunity to test out new things with new members. We must experiment with all possible options, and with the massive amounts of new recruits, a 12 or 14 team NSFL is almost inevitable. Playoffs must be updated if the NSFL does not expand, as it's outdated and inefficient. I, as a S22 player, am excited to see what the future holds for the NSFL and DSFL. I cannot wait for the new expansion, and I'm 110% hoping for a 12 team NSFL along with a 6 team playoff system.

Damn, first time player but that is pretty awesome. That’s almost a 7 round draft in the actual NFL. Would be like 20 rounds here haha

there a website with the updated list of all players, even has me and i signed up yesterday. I ctrl+f and typed in s22 and 242 results popped up as of like 2 hours ago

In theory your inaugural class would be your biggest but even that back then was like 6 teams * 25 rounds = 150 players and that's to form an entire team where DSFL already has send-downs and inactives with high tpe numbers and what not. an incredibly large class. it's cool though

Even if just 50% stay active... that's 120ish players, which is crazy.
Expansion is definitely needed

yeah, its most likely a peak and probably won't be replicated until the next r/NFL post. the DSFL is going to have so many members in S21 and then back to normal in S22.
