A Good Day - Rising Equinox - 02-21-2020
So, I hinted at this last night, and here is my official announcement. I will be retiring from the league effective pretty much immediately. Lanzer himself will not be officially retiring, but I myself will be "retiring." I see no reason to hurt the Otters here; they didn't really do anything wrong. This was a tough decision, and it's really been building up for a while. The purpose of this post is to explain why I'm doing this.
The first reason is HO as a whole. It's really at a point where every decision by HO makes me needlessly angry. Some of it is completely stupid for me to get upset about, but other parts were completely avoidable by HO and should've never been done. The last straw for me really was the Bex situation. My god, could you guys have possibly handled the situation any worse? I loved the voting idea; that was great. But seriously, everything before and after the announcement of the punishment has been terribly handled. This post is not meant to target any specific individual, just the process and people involved as a whole. First, why are there no legitimate rules in place regarding staff members, HO, etc? Your only determining factor in the punishment seemed to be "Did they directly state that they were tampering?". What about the clear intentions of abuse of power and the threats of physical violence and assault on other members of the league? That was the biggest concern to me and several others that I talked to, but it was completely ignored in the "trial" process. Then, you ban DylanDeluxe with the reasoning of the "Don't be a dick" rule. I don't know him, never talked to him before everything happened, and I honestly agree with the final punishment to an extent. But, the reasoning is actually laughable, considering you had literally decided to not punish Bex for also breaking the values of this very same rule.
Then, we get to the r/NFL recruitment day. There's no other way to look at it, whether it was intentional or not, you set up the entire punishment vote for failure from the very start. Literally the only reason I have been given for people voting not to remove Bex from the Commissioner position is that they don't know who would replace her and that they didn't want to give the new rookies a bad impression of the league and the users that run it. What kind of reasoning is that to not remove someone from the highest ranking position in the league, considered the face of the league? You lost your chance to remove her, and now you've set the precedent that she can do whatever the hell she wants and get away with it, simply because you don't think anyone could replace her immediately. The vote was completely unfair, and I hope all of the newly recruited rookies know this. I urge all of the new guys to contact your GM's, whenever you get drafted, and ask them about the situation I'm talking about, because apparently HO doesn't want to announce it themselves, for better or for worse.
The next reason is more on a team level. I won't go into this with much detail, because I still love the Otters. They will forever be my team, whether or not they trade Lanzer away in the future. Even if I never come back, they will always be my team. To sum it up, I haven't completely agreed with some of the team decisions made recently, regarding trades, the draft, etc. I personally feel like, even as a war room member, I had no say in anything, and I felt entirely useless this past season.
Finally, this has nothing to do with the league, but I have IRL stuff I have to deal with. With the current animation classes I'm taking, I simply don't have as much time right now to focus on the league and my player. And, the little free time I do have, I don't want to spend being an angry person at the decisions being made around the league. It got to the point where it was negatively affecting me and my personality outside of the sim. I need to take a break from it all.
This also means that I will be stepping down from my GFX Grader position. I already spoke with Noka about this, which is why the hiring thread was posted a little while ago for the position. I encourage anyone who might be considering it to apply. It really is fun, and you can get some good experience with graphics yourself, if that's something you're interested in. I will be staying on as a grader until a replacement is hired, maybe a little longer if needed.
Well, that pretty much wraps things up here. I realize there's probably more people in the league that hate me than people that actually like me or care about the fact that I'm leaving. But, this was something that I felt was necessary to speak my mind about. I also urge anyone who has the same feelings as me about the Bex situation to not let others hold you back from doing what you feel is best for yourself outside of the league. If you disagree with the actions taken, speak up, don't feel like you need to hold it in. Do what I'm doing, if that's what you think is best for you. Seriously, even message me on Discord if you just want someone to talk to about it. I may not have the greatest advice, but I'll at least listen. There's definitely people I'll miss in the league, and who knows, I might be back at some point. Maybe I'll realize in a month or two that I actually miss the league environment. But, for now, all I know is that I need to take a break. Thank you everyone for reading my wall of text. This was my first and only sim league experience. It truly was fun.

I didnt even want to give you the attention you spent your entire time in this league seeking but you had to try to weaponize rookies.
Nobody ignored your concerns about private messages that were spitefully released to the public (what Dylan actually did) and contained private thoughts on people (what is being to compared to what Dylan did). For anyone who was not here when it happened, that is the context. Private messages by the dozens were brought forward by a disgruntled ex-confidante showing personal thoughts among friends. He created a full discord displaying these private thoughts in screenshots and then organized them by rooms based on who the subject was, then invited a large percentage of the league. The "threats" being championed here are comments from those private discussions.
Private messages are not threats. Private messages do not break the dont be a dick rule. This concern was not ignored in any way. It was discussed openly, repeatedly, and by a great many people. It was addressed over and over again. He wasn't ignored. No one is being held back. He's simply throwing a temper tantrum. Not the first. Hopefully the last.
Nor is it true that there were no other candidates. There were other very qualified candidates who were found SPECIFICALLY to combat this idea that there was no choice. This fact was also publicized in both chats and on my vidcast (I found the candidates personally). Every vote was made knowing there were other quality options which we discussed among GMs and HO members during the season.
My vote for example, was to remove her. Not for any of this ridiculous asinine nonsense that doesn't tell you why there was a vote to begin with. I voted to remove her because she broke an important rule and I personally would have stepped down in her shoes if faced with that kind of action on my part. She chose not to do that. A majority of GMs and HO members felt that the punishment she already received was enough and voted to retain her as Commissioner. The vote was not unfair and the discussion lasted the entire season among teams before the vote was cast. The voting was done before the recruitment drive and the results were announced to us early in the day.
Essentially almost nothing in this post is even attempting to be honest, accurate, or useful. It's a hitjob based on bullshit, purposely lacking context and facts so as to paint a dishonest picture of how things happened. It doesn't even actually attempt to mention what the vote was actually about. And I'm done with it. I'm done with this lying to pretend that a private message equals a threat of some kind that is actionabey against rules. I'm done with people defending someone who screenshotted dozens of personal private conversations and publicized them specifically to hurt the league and several members in it. I'm just done. We all made our decision and it's time to move forward. Again..as someone who not only voted to remove her, but personally made sure the entire "there's nobody else" argument was inaccurate, and made sure other GMs and HO members knew I was voting that way ahead of time, why I was, what I did, and what my feelings were on the subject. If the league was going to keep her it was going to be for the right reasons. Nobody put a gun to 14 other people's heads and told them to keep her as Commissioner. Nobody was tricked, fooled, deceived, or bamboozled.
A selfish little brat didn't get his way and has resorted to blatant lying.
