Yes, it’s finally here. Idk what your expectations were , but I put lots of effort into these first two rounds. Finding stats, writing up the summaries. Some players may have different Tp levels than stated here, retired etc. but realize I started this article almost 1.5 seasons ago so this is the best I got.
For the first pick of the 2020 National Simulation Football League Redraft, the New York Liberty select Quarterback Wolfie McDummy

And the draft has officially started off. Liberty elects to select a young QB by the name of Wolfie McDummy. Wolfie because of his age and how good his attributes already are, was a sure-fire first-round pick. Many may be surprised that Liberty has taken him first overall when there were arguably better QBs available, but now with their foundation, they can build their team around him. Liberty will hope that this turns into a success. But we can only find out in Part 3 :eyes: when we sim the new teams. Based on these stats, Wolfie may not look like a first pick caliber player, but when you look at the levels of TP earning he has, then it's easier to understand the pick.

With the second pick, another quarterback was chosen. Estoin Cole. He again is not one of the best Quarterbacks available, but his young age could really help this second line team in the long run. This draft has already turned very controversial, so I hope this satisfies everyone’s daily dose of controversy. Interestingly enough, League MVP Franklin Armstrong still available on the draft board. I would predict him going in the next pick, but as we have seen anything can happen in this draft because I am the one writing it. Looking at the stats, Estoin looks like he would be a better player than Wolfie but, as you can see, Estoin’s statlines are very inconsistent. One season he threw 31 Touchdowns but then the next threw 18 only. But still is young as is still putting up relatively good stats so is still a good 2nd pick.

And finally, what a lot of you may have suspected for the first pick. Franklin Armstrong, reigning league MVP, and most talked and hyped up Quarterback is picked. We can finally see if the Orange County Otter receivers made him look good or if he made them look good. Now we have taken three straight Quarterbacks for the first picks of the draft. Still lots of great non-quarterbacks are still available. It will be interesting how San Jose Sabercats will elect to go, with their next pick.

The first non-quarterback player in this draft. Dermot Lavelle Jr. is currently at 1040 TP and still putting consistent updates every week. Maybe this was a too high pick for him, but with the NSFL being more pass based, than run-based, this might have been a good tactical pick for the San Jose Sabercats. They are gonna hope that this is the right decision cause they only get one chance to make up for their previous seasons of ending at last place. I live in San Jose IRL, so I wish the best for this team. In terms of the user, does have a job so he should be a good earner. Dermot Lavelle Jr. has some impressive numbers over his 4 seasons in the NSFL but maybe will look toward increasing Interception and Fumble Numbers to increase his stock. But just as the other three picks, he is a young player, who earns TP consistently granting him a first-round, top 5 picks in this redraft.

Drafting in the middle of this snake draft Arizona is a much different animal then drafting at the ends. The first few picks are pretty predictable of who will go off the board but once the first tier of any position goes off the board its a much better proposition to go after the top of another position when an equivalent QB pick will be there in later rounds regardless. Bubba thumper will anchor a whole position group and will be the first line of defense for half the opposing team's offense. This is a keystone level pick.

For their first pick in this draft, Austin decides to pick a Wide Receiver. Now as three of the top Quarterbacks have already been chosen, Copperheads make the smart decision to get one of the top receivers, as there will still be top quarterbacks available in the next round. Swift is a superstar capable of showing leadership to aid development on both sides of the ball. His slow start in the league will be critical to relate to newer players with huge egos finding out that they're a big fish in a new gigantic ocean.

If you can't get the top tier of Quarterback you might as well get the top running back available. The first round is the round to build your entire team off of. Torenson is the first Running back off the board and a lot of titles have been won off of prioritizing the running game. It may be telegraphing their draft strategy for the rest of the night but this is a decisive move for the direction of the entire franchise if they commit to it. More and more QB's are touting a rushing threat these days with the rise of Armstrong and so a focus on building a run game is critical to any ultra-modern type offence.

And finally the #1 TP player right now, Corvo Havran is picked. Picked by the Orange County Otters, which I promise I did not do on purpose, to try to get the OCO Dynasty continued. There’s really no need to explain this pick. Corvo is the best player in the league that also happens to be at the #1 most valuable position. The only reason not chosen earlier was because of how old he is, and most teams were trying to plan for the future. Orange County will probably be the top team for the first season as they will be with the best players. Orange County will hope to go for a younger player for next pick, so that way their whole team won’t retire at around the same time and so they can build for the future. Looking at Corvo’s stats, it’s obvious to see he was a dominant Quarterback from the moment he was called up to the big leagues. The two extra seasons spent in the DSFL really gave him experience with him already reaching 100 Touchdowns in his first 4 seasons. The stats here don't show but he is also a dominant rushing QB with 455 Rushing Yards and 4 Rushing Touchdowns.

A good QB can throw a good ball and a good wide receiver has a good chance of catching that ball. A great QB can throw a great ball to a bad wide receiver and that wide receiver won't be around the ball more often than not. But a bad QB can throw a bad ball to a great wide receiver and that wide receiver can make a great catch regardless of where that ball is going. Maddox may be looking down the gun of retirement but the reigning receiver of the year is at the top of the game, not just his own. Earl Maddox is one of the few in the league that can demand buy-in for whoever his coach is. The only question is if that is worth the building threat of his retirement year on year.

Interestingly enough, for the last pick of the first round, the Wraiths elect to take a safety. They do have the next pick as well, so they might be trying to play mind games on their fellow general managers. Tyron is a very young player, drafted in Season 17, yet he is already at 700 TP. Tyron a very fast player with 90+ Speed and Agility, so Wraiths may be thinking of Kick Returning and Punt Returning, which is very interesting. Safety’s main job is to be the last line of defense in case the wide receivers beat the cornerbacks, and also racking up the interceptions and getting pick-sixes. Let’s hope that Brackenridge can do that for the Wraiths.

And that’s the end of the first round
First Round Analysis
I think everyone was expecting at least half the picks in this first round to be QB's and arguably (Cooter Bigsby was taken first in the second by the same team who picked last in the first which if including would be half if we consider them the same pick and rounded up. I think however everyone was rather shocked to see the exact order that they went. The two top QB's taken were not the eternal rivals Corvo havran and Franklin Armstrong but rather the pair of Wolfie Mcdummy and then estoin cole. The biggest storyline after the first two picks was what team would go away from the QB draft train and what direction they could go. Surely a lot of mock drafts were already broken and a lot of people were looking to get what they could get right from the chaos. Vegas even had odds running for a lot of players for who would be the first non QB drafted. Dermot Lavelle Jr. made a sizable dent in the sportsbooks this week on this prop bet. For a disclaimer, this writer had money on Sam torenson to be the first non QB to be taken off the board. A running debate before the draft was solved deceivingly as safeties were picked instead of Linebackers. Detractors of Secondary players would argue that Safety's and cornerbacks are more ego-based in their performance and would cause problems if they were drafted after the linebackers of a team. However, a narrative that a lot of more respected pundits were choosing was that with the league choosing to ban Safeties from playing as linebackers in the league the immediate transition period would cause a lot of problems with both sides of the ball adjusting and that truly superstar Safeties capable of making the transition would be well worth their weight in gold. The result of this debate funneled into the last major feature of the first round which was the pair of Wide receivers that were picked. With the priority given to Safeties over linebackers, the clear second offensive priority was made to be receivers over running backs. A majority of mock drafts had more than one running back drafted in the first round with vegas having an over-under of three half-backs being taken in the first round. After all of these developments except the conversation about the first round in the coming days and weeks to be about the Arizona outlaws picking bubba thumper, a defensive tackle, smack dab in the middle of the first round. Clearly the outlaws were working with a different playbook than any other team in the league. Thumper is the last person you would want to meet in a dark alley and has been a constant threat for years now. Wise men have said that teams that draft for need don't succeed. In a round where everyone needed something, some had the luxury to choose what they wanted and others chose what they thought they would need. Only time will tell on these decisions.

The wraiths had two picks back to back so on top of picking the best players they could get a very important part of these picks were to lay the foundation of the team. The layering of these picks shows a clever show of misdirection of the players. Cooter Bigsby being a Quarterback would be able to read that he was just as good picked at the end of the first round as the start of the second. But being picked in the first round would have made a larger impact with safety and so both parties are situated best for the team. Without knowing the exact inner workings of their minds this is the safest play the wraiths could make.

Baltimore Hawks after securing a top level receiver in the first round, decide to get a quarterback. While both a quarterback and wide receiver are important for a team, arguably they should have aimed for a different position, just as stated before, an elite wide receiver can catch anything that is thrown to them so a lower TP/ younger quarterback in round 3 or 4 would be better. Stan Francisco is a good player already at 1100 TP, but he is old and will go through regression in the next season of the season after that. Baltimore will probably look too defensive for their round 3 pick. Looking at the stats, Francisco has been a pretty Average QB getting around 15 TDs a season and respectable numbers. But this season that should improve with a top receiver at his disposal.

Reflecting a lot of the same strategy that the wraiths went with the Otters have decided to go Safety with their second pick. Faith has shown to be a workhorse and with this pick, the defensive strategy for the Otters comes into focus. Expect them to value skill positions on defense in order to go for a "bend but don't break" defense. Faith is the second Safety picked but sources have said that Faith was the number one defensive pick on the Otters board ahead of even White cornerback, the first cornerback taken, and even bubba thumper, the first defensive tackle taken.

For the fourth pick of the second round and the fourteenth pick of the 2020 National Simulation Football League Redraft, Colorado Yeti select Quarterback Jay Cue

Now Yeti, even though they picked up the top running back, Torenson still decide to pick a quarterback in round two. Jay Cue is a young, up and coming quarterback. Because of how quickly he earns TP, many believed/ predicted that he would be the first pick. But he ended up dropping all the way 14, and the Yeti Coaching Staff and General Manager will be glad that they were able to snag him. Other than being a great player, Jay is also a great user who has personally helped me in this league as well as in other leagues. He has weekly articles coming out so can get tier 6 equipment every season which will be very helpful for him and the Yeti. This is also an interesting pick, as Jay Cue will be playing his first professional appearance this season, and he will have lots of big expectations on him, and fans and coaching staff will hope he delivers.

Rose Jenkins Is one of the stranger cases in the NSFL as a whole. If you went by yards or completions he would tilt at the top of the table for QB's. And yet at the same time he sits near or at the bottom of TD's INT's or passer ratings. If this was a car It would be Ford in the first year that they competed at the 24 hours of le mans. That year all three of the cars broke down in multiple ways and yet broke the speed record repeatedly for the track and had figured out brakes in a way no one else was anywhere near. If Austin can figure out what's holding Jenkins back and unleash his potential this can easily turn into the biggest steal in the draft.

They choose Forrest Gump which is a great selection for them, and could potentially be a steal. User Tom Hanks is considered one of the users in this league that does most of the work, and is also a GM. In terms of Gump’s performances, he is one of the league’s elite running backs scoring 37 Touchdowns in his 4 year NSFL Career and racking up 4,763 yards. Arizona now that they haven’t picked a quarterback or wide receiver yet will probably have most of their offense shaped around Gump

An unreported quote from a GM at the last combine that traveled rather well was "If I were to build a team I'd simply sign 22 safeties and assign them to every position" This person was obviously not being entirely serious but it has a devilish bit of truth in itself. If you were going to build your defence in this way Lightsout Lewis is the model that you would want at every spot. Winning cultures produce winning teams but the only way they become winning teams is if the team is happy and wants to win. Lightsout Lewis is the guy to create that winning culture in a team.

Walt Green will be expected to hold fort for the Butchers defense. Much like picking a running back after the top QB's have been taken picking a linebacker when most of the top safeties have been picked is a decision every GM has to make in this draft. NOLA exists low enough in this round that they can begin to lock down who exactly they are going to take next in relation to this pick. In the new world of post Safety at middle linebacker, NSFL Mo berry represents the best hope to replicate the effect of previous defenses with keeping within the rules as well. Also Mo Berry has been an absolute stud and at the top of the linebacker tiers of every analyst in the league.

One word to describe Richard D’Attoria V. OP. His Pass Deflections and Interceptions are almost unheard of, for safety. With 21 Sacks, 11 interceptions, 46 PDs, and 2 Pick-sixes over his 3 year NSFL career, this man is owning. Not to even mention his 295 tackles. Philadelphia was lucky that even with all the safeties taken in the draft, they were still able to secure him. Following a similar approach to most teams, Liberty picked a quarterback in the first round and a safety in the second round

Second Round Analysis
Round 2 had all the remaining top QBs be chosen including young Jay Cue and leading TP in the class, Cooter Bigsby be chosen. Most of the other picks were safeties, which was an interesting strategy for the teams to follow. Linebackers can expect to hear their names be called in the third round, now that most of the safeties are off the clock. For any team that has not drafted a QB, they should look to drafting one in later rounds, as most of the quarterbacks remaining are around the same TP level. Now with the third picks of each team, each General managers team vision should hopefully be shaping up. One of the surprise picks was the previously mentioned Jay Cue. He is at a very young age and has not had a single professional snap in his whole career. But after owning at the DSFL level, his game should speak for himself. The team will have to develop him well though so that way he does not become a bust.
