*DSFL Draft - S21 - LB Prospects - Exilizer - 02-27-2020

Here is an attempt at summarising the best linebacker prospects in this iteration of the DSFL Draft. At first glance, you may be forgiven for thinking that, at a total of nearly 40 players, this position is very deep. However, if you take a closer look, you will see the facade slowly crumble away. Only half of the prospects have been around on the forum within the last week, fewer yet have posted and only a select few have any sort of notable TPE updated in their respective threads. This then, is a club of only 10 or so LBs that GMs should have reasonably high on their boards and we will get to that a little later.

To conduct the analysis, a look was taken at each player’s update thread, profile and TPE/Stats as well as their activity across a number of indicators to help measure their engagement.

This includes having a Twitter account, being active on Discord (this has been at times hard to check, so apologies for any omissions), a wiki page and how many media or GFX posts have been made by the player. This should give GMs a good indication of how likely these players are to earn TPE going forward and to what extent they will be a good locker room addition.

S-Tier: Icing on the cake
These two prospects are the top of the crop and clearly stand above the rest of the prospects, especially in total TPE earned and activity wise as well. Let’s be honest, it’s not even close. No GM should have any qualms taking either of them early on.

1. Stanisław Koniecpolski (@majesiu)
Archetype: Balanced

Claimed TPE: 112
Last Seen: 2020/02/27
Media/GFX: 2
Twitter: No
Discord Activity: Low
Wiki: Yes

Key Stats: SPD: 80 STR: 70 END: 65 TKL: 70 INT: 50

Stanislaw is a former Hall-of-Famer reborn as a Linebacker, and a highly active member, who is the number 1 LB prospect in this draft. His experience on the field of battle with the polish army is a testament to his strength and execution. He has the benefit of having joined a team on waivers during the previous season. While he isn’t super active on the main Discord servers currently this may see an uptick again and he has already contributed two media related posts. His actual TPE advantage over our #2 prospect is more evident than the current numbers would suggest, as he hasn’t yet claimed his equipment. He will be looking to use those TPE to further boost his strength, endurance and tackling. His only drawback may be his archetype’s speed limit of 85, but this is offset by a nice early cushion on some other stats, and he clearly has his TPE-earning figured out perfectly.

Verdict: Mid-late First Rounder, likely the first LB of the board.

2. Derred de Ville (@Exilizer)
Archetype: Speed Rusher

Claimed TPE: 124
Last Seen: 2020/02/27
Media/GFX: 3
Twitter: Yes
Discord Activity: High
Wiki: Yes

Key Stats: SPD: 80 STR: 70 END: 65 TKL: 60 INT: 50

Hailing all the way from London, Derred de Ville goes by the nickname “The Red Devil” and he has already shown us why. In just 10 days in the league he has amassed 124TPE and a bank balance in excess of $40m prior to purchasing his equipment. He has been very active on the various Discord servers, showing that he is a good team player in any locker room. He published 3 media posts including this one and not only does he have his own wiki page, he also created a ton of new DSFL stats pages on there. As a speed rusher, he will be looking to further bolster his speed but should not forget about boosting his slightly below average intelligence to be effective at recognising the opponents plays.

Verdict: Late First/Early Second, could upset Koniecpolski.

A-Tier: Great Expectations

The next 3 prospects have shown a lot of engagement, but there is a clear gulf in TPE to the top dogs. GMs can trust these guys to keep earning their stats and contribute to the team’s success, without having to pay the higher draft cost for the S-Tier prospects.

3. Lawrence Bass (@RussDrivesTheBus)
Archetype: Balanced

Claimed TPE: 73
Last Seen: 2020/02/27
Media/GFX: 1
Twitter: Yes
Discord Activity: High
Wiki: Yes

Key Stats: SPD: 70 STR: 70 END: 70 TKL: 70 INT: 50

Bass has definitely been driving his bus, and made himself very noticeable over the last few days. Another balanced LB, he has been very active both on Twitter and Discord and already claimed a good amount of TPE to get himself started in the league. He is a very well rounded prospect, both on and off the field who will be looking to help where he can. In an emergency, he could even drive the team to the next game.

Verdict: Late 3rd or 4th round - Will be intriguing to watch where he gets drafted and his stock may yet rise further.

4. Mark Radson (@Ayyylmao)
Archetype: Speed Rusher

Claimed TPE: 77
Last Seen: 2020/02/27
Media/GFX: 2
Twitter: No
Discord Activity: Medium
Wiki: Yes

Key Stats: SPD: 74 STR: 60 END: 60 TKL: 65 INT: 45

While his TPE is slightly higher than Bass, Radson has not been as active in the community and therefore just slots into 4th place on this prospect list. Your season will be rad son. If he can get himself setup with a twitter account this will be further boost to his assets, and he should initially look to improve his sub-par strength.

Verdict: Late 4th Round - should aim to raise his activity levels to go even higher

5. George ’Corpse Grinder’ Fisher (@AL_GRINGO)
Archetype: Speed Rusher

Claimed TPE: 71
Last Seen: 2020/02/27
Media/GFX: 1
Twitter: No
Discord Activity: Medium-High
Wiki: No

Key Stats: SPD: 81 STR: 55 END: 60 TKL: 60 INT: 45

The last prospect in this tier rounds out the top half of the list. Little is know about him other than his good work ethic and his top end speed. With his strength being on the lower end of the spectrum, We aren’t sure that he will be a Corpse Grinder just yet.

Verdict: 5th Round - Touted to run the fastest 40 at the combine he will be one to watch

B-Tier: Great Potential
The next group of guys are solid prospects that should come off the board in the top third of the draft. While not being quite as skilled yet, they have shown promise in every department and a willingness to graft hard.

6. Devaunte Sackpieder (@devaunte)
Archetype: Speed Rusher

Claimed TPE: 57
Last Seen: 2020/02/27
Media/GFX: 2
Twitter: Yes
Discord Activity: High
Wiki: No

Key Stats: SPD: 71 STR: 65 END: 70 TKL: 60 INT: 50

Devaunte just narrowly missed out on the A-Tier, simply because he hasn't taken advantage of the fact that he joined the league a week earlier than most prospects and his update thread has been a little bit inactive lately. He has however been seen all over the place on Discord and runs a twitter account. Yet another speed rusher, his current slowness may be a bit of a red flag, and he should work hard in training camp to have a chance to be a starter. He makes up for this with his above average endurance which will keep him on the field longer.

Verdict: 4th-6th round, depending on how he develops in the next few days.

7. Cadillac Mitchell (@otto74)
Archetype: Speed Rusher

Claimed TPE: 65
Last Seen: 2020/02/26
Media/GFX: 0
Twitter: Yes
Discord Activity: Low
Wiki: Yes

Key Stats: SPD: 75 STR: 65 END: 65 TKL: 60 INT: 45

Cadillac has the misfortune of being a little bit overshadowed by his CB-namesake, Cadillac Harris and may have been flying under the radar of some teams. With average stats across the board, he will be looking to address some of those concerns during the combine, and show the scouts his strengths.

Verdict: 6th-8th round

8. Fawn Dillmiballs (@`enforcer`)
Archetype: Coverage

Claimed TPE: 62
Last Seen: 2020/02/26
Media/GFX: 0
Twitter: Yes
Discord Activity: Medium
Wiki: Yes

Key Stats: SPD: 70 STR: 53 END: 68 TKL: 60 INT: 60

Fawn is perhaps the most intriguing prospect on this list, as the only coverage linebacker. He may be the ideal candidate for a team that needs help in this department. With his high base intelligence, he is an absolute ball-hawk. Yes his top-line speed isn't as great has the rest of the field, but he will find himself in the right place more often than not. He will be looking to further improve on this while watching tape and studying the playbook every week. Right now, he is the only LB with Intelligence above 55, which he will be aiming to bring across in the combine interviews.

Verdict: 5-10th round - Could go anywhere if a GM is willing to take a risk on him early enough.

C-Tier: The Best of the Rest
Outside of their initial update and a couple of fulfilled tasks, we have not yet seen enough to properly evaluate the last two players in our top 10.

9. Sean O’Donohue (@seanod123)
Archetype: Balanced

Claimed TPE: 57
Last Seen: 2020/02/27
Media/GFX: 2
Twitter: Yes
Discord Activity: Low
Wiki: No

Key Stats: SPD: 70 STR: 63 END: 65 TKL: 70 INT: 55

Sean has prepared a couple of short blog entries, but outside of that is a little bit of a closed book so far. If he continues to say the right thing to GMs he may see himself rise on the board. He clearly is an intelligent and confident guy who will flourish in the league with some guidance.

Verdict: Round 10+, could slip back into the first 10 rounds if he does raise his stats

10. Samuel L Sackson Sr. (@Ortecam)
Archetype: Speed Rusher

Claimed TPE: 65
Last Seen: 2020/02/27
Media/GFX: 1
Twitter: No
Discord Activity: No
Wiki: No

Key Stats: SPD: 75 STR: 62 END: 60 TKL: 60 INT: 46

We got a bit of a glimpse into Samuel L Jackson's back story from his article but otherwise he has not quite been his extrovert self opting instead to act behind the scenes and quietly but steadily raise his TPE. If he keeps going with this, he may have one of the highest skill sets by the time the season starts, and he is a natural born performer, who likes to come after the QB.

Verdict: Round 9-11

Honorable mentions that just missed out on the Top 10:
Calvin McMann (@hyphenjack)
Lloyd Collins (@SalmonFormula)

D-Tier: The rest

Unfortunately, the most of the rest of the class is not up to scratch, with the majority having even failed to claim their week one activity check.

If GM's want top level LB talent, they should act before the first 5-10 guys have come off the board.

Good stuff! I don't agree that my lack of chatting should put be below some low earner, but none the less I respect your opinion Big Grin

(jk btw about the "low earner" thing lol)

Didn't buy my eq at the time, thanks for reminding me about it. Nice article and thanks for the kind words. I wouldn't hope for increased activity on main Discord though, I have too many of them and nsfl isn't my main sim league, same with my twitter account that I use sporadically.
