*What's a Livable Wage in the NSFL? - Forty Jordy - 03-03-2020 Can you live off minimum wage in this league and still be a max TPE earner? This is the basis to my question to find out how much money you need to make each season to max out TPE and what actions do you need to do to fill the gap. Which then led me to my follow-on question, how much TPE can you gain each season? I am sure this has been looked at before but couldn’t find anything in my indepth 30 second search on AltaVista. In the table below, you will see a summary of expenses and income. I only included the bare minimum income sources which are contracts and twitter payouts. Twitter because it’s an easy source of income. For contract income, I used the minimum required contract amount based on TPE. And for TPE, I assumed a max earner. This means the following contract income: DSFL - $5 Mil NSFL Season 1 - $1 Mil NSFL Season 2 - $2 Mil NSFL Season 3 - $2 Mil NSFL Season 4 - $3 Mil NSFL Season 5 - $4 Mil NSFL Season 6 - $5 Mil NSFL Season 7 - $5 Mil NSFL Season 8 - $5 Mil NSFL Season 9 - $5 Mil NSFL Season 10 - $5 Mil For a 10-year stint, income on average comes out to $3.82 Mil/year ![]() If you max out TPE, you will be at a deficit of $16.7 Mil. With twitter you can close the deficit by $5.6 Mil to $11.1 Mil, which will allow you to maximize weekly training and the first tier of equipment. One other interesting tidbit is that training is much more efficient per dollar. You earn 5 TPE/Mil vs. 2.2 TPE/Mil for equipment. How should you close this gap? Media Submissions – You would need 6.2 articles at 1000 words each. Of course, it’s less if you submit during times with bonuses. Podcasts – At $400k / 6 min, you need to record for 166.5 min, almost 3 hours of content, to earn $11.1 Mil. Graphics – If you submit 3/5 rated graphics at 700k each, you need 16 of them Job – Most jobs are either $5 Mil/year or $10 Mil/year. With a $5 Mil/year job, you still need submissions, but at about half the amount. Maxing TPE Using season 21 as an example, here is how much TPE you could have earned. For point tasks, I used the average payout. Item ----------------------- TPE/EA - TPE/Season Equipment –----------------- 30 TPE – 30 TPE Activity Check x7 –---------- 2 TPE – 14 TPE Training x7 ----------------- 5 TPE – 35 TPE Wiki –----------------------- 5 TPE –- 5 TPE Mock Draft –----------------- 6 TPE –- 6 TPE Predictions x13 ----------- 1.5 TPE – 20 TPE Rookie Mentor --------------- 3 TPE –- 3 TPE Trivia x4 –------------------ 4 TPE – 16 TPE Role Models –---------------- 3 TPE –- 3 TPE Celebrations –--------------- 3 TPE –- 3 TPE Fantasy Football –----------- 3 TPE –- 3 TPE Season Predictions –-------- 10 TPE –- 10 TPE Awards ---------------------- 3 TPE –- 3 TPE UW –------------------------ 10 TPE –- 10 TPE Total – 164 Training camp or rookie tasks or not included Assuming this total is attainable each season and adding rookie tasks and training camp, we can see how much TPE you can accumulate each season below. I added training camp and rookie tasks to the plot below as these bonuses are different each season. ![]() This shows you can earn up to 1400 TPE. This seems to be about accurate as it reflects the top players on the tracker, but once you reach this amount the drop off is quite steep. To sum this up, if you don’t earn $ 11 Mil/year will you see much of a difference? Probably not. If you can only afford 15 or 20 TPE equipment, you won’t miss much by not getting that extra 10-15 TPE. *What's a Livable Wage in the NSFL? - retrospace111 - 03-03-2020 nice article *What's a Livable Wage in the NSFL? - Forty Jordy - 03-03-2020 Oops. Forgot to add the table. Added now. *What's a Livable Wage in the NSFL? - Duilio05 - 03-03-2020 I've actually been tracking all of my expenses and earnings over my career. my first DSFL season was S14. going into S21 that is 6 full seasons. In fact this is my 1 year anniversary of joining the league. I have spent $146,500,000.00 in league expenses. Currently at 1276 total tpe. I have earned a total of $163,919,890.00 during that same time. And all without twitter pay. Yeah i don't have a twitter account. Currently most of my earnings come from GM, contract, and Recruitment Head. Combined that's $15M each season. However, initially when i started I did a good chunk of Media myself. First job was recruitment team member, think beginning of S15. First GM job was for the San Antonio Marshals, now the Ducks, at end of S15. I also did work for the events team few multiple seasons, helping to get stuff prepped for drafts and awards. My DSFL rookie season I posted 9 medias(2 pressers) before my NSFL Draft for a total of $22,999,360.00 Of those 9 medias the largest was my "DSFL Week 5-8 Predictions" of 1767 words. Post my rookie NSFL Draft i have posted 8 media(1 presser) for a total of $24,354,720.00 Of those 8 the largest was "NSFL Draft Grades" which i split into two medias, one for NSFC and one for ASFC, for a total of $9,971,820.00 Splitting it in two actually cost me some money, as i didn't recieved the bonus for hitting the the 2500 word mark, but I wanted to ensure all the tags worked correctly. On jcink if you try tagging too many people in one post, the tags fail. I actually miss writing media. I have multiple topic ideas and even several series that'd be fun to work on, but being a GM takes up a lot of time. Media pay out is great because a person can make a nice chunk of cash off just one post. Unfortunately many players stop posting media after they get their income flow figured out through other means. If some of you new players viewed posting media as like a independent journalist job, instead of a temporary income before a "true" league job, I think a good number of fun media series would be created. Media helps to breathe life into our sim league. |
