Ready to be graded, 491 words“Going into the Season 15 NSFL draft, I wasn’t thinking about setting records or getting my name into the history books. All I was thinking about was helping my future team win an Ultimus. If I’m being honest, that’s still pretty much all I think about. But all the hard work I’ve put in has paid off, and now I have the most tackles in New Orleans franchise history. I cannot put into words how honored I am to be in this position. I mean, look at the other names on that list: William Harrison, Brian Mills, Julian O’Sullivan, I could go on and on. To be on the same list as those great players is humbling, and I hope I can bring the same success to New Orleans that they did in their time.
“As I said above, bringing at least one more Ultimus to New Orleans is my main focus. But this honor has gotten me thinking about other things, and now I have some other goals that I’m reaching for. Namely, I’d like to join the ‘one thousand career tackles’ club. It’s an elite group of players, and I’d love to see my name up there with them. Obviously nobody can see what tomorrow holds, but I think that’s a feat I’m well on my way to achieving.
“Finally, I want to thank the New Orleans organization for giving me all the tools I and the team needed to succeed. The front office has done an amazing job leading this team, and we wouldn’t be having the success we’re having now without them manning the helm. But it’s not just the front office. Football is a team sport, and every single member of the Second Line has worked incredibly hard to get us to this point. I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this team, and I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my career in New Orleans. Now let’s go win an Ultimus.”
The three-time Pro Bowler needs just 269 tackles to reach one thousand for his career. He’s also signed with New Orleans through the end of Season 23. New Orleans is currently having one of its best seasons in history: they’ve started 9-0 with a league-leading +139 point differential. While there’s still a long way to go, Bode and the rest of the Second Line are undoubtedly feeling good about their playoff chances.
