*The Most Penalised Players and Teams in the DSFL - Colabear - 03-28-2020 Since it's not available in the index I decided to have a little look at who the most penalised players and teams are in the DSFL. We're at week 10 now so we have a reasonable sample of games to look at. Let's start with the teams. Most Penalised Teams 71 - Tijuana Luchadores 70 - Portland Pythons 68 - Minnesota Grey Ducks 66 - Norfolk Seawolves 60 - Myrtle Beach Buccaneers 57 - London Royals 51 - Dallas Birddogs 47 - Kansas City Coyotes So the top team in the league, Kansas City, is also the least penalised team in the league. But before we conclude that we've got the sim totally figured out, we should note that the rest of the table doesn't seem to follow any similar pattern. But of course, not all penalties are equal. How do they stack up when we look at how many penalty yards are given up. Most Penalty Yards Given Up By Team 577 - Portland Pythons 547 - Minnesota Grey Ducks 494 - Tijuana Luchadores 492 - Norfolk Seawolves 471 - Myrtle Beach Buccaneers 462 - London Royals 396 - Dallas Birddogs 352 - Kansas City Coyotes Looking at yardage we see Portland jump to the top of the league with 577 yards, Minnesota are also out in front (or behind) with 547 yards. Portland's total is a full 225 yards more than Kansas City at the other end of things. Finally, which teams have had the most number of players penalised. Most Penalised Players on a Team 30 - Tijuana Luchadores 26 - Minnesota Grey Ducks 25 - Dallas Birddogs 24 - Norfolk Seawolves 24 - Myrtle Beach Buccaneers 23 - Kansas City Coyotes 22 - Portland Pythons 22 - London Royals So how does that break down by player. Here are all of the 23 players with 5 or more penalties against them. Behind him on 8 is Matt Hole of the Grey Ducks. Both well out in front of the trailing pack at 5 and 6. As we said before not all penalties are equal so how do the individual statistics break down by yardage? Here are all the players with 40 or more yards given up to penalties. Of course not all players play so much, so we can balance that out by looking at the number of penalties per snap that player has played. And the penalty yardage given up per snap. The number listed here is the average number of penalty yards given up for each snap that player plays. So 0.2 would mean that player gives up 2 penalty yards for every 10 snaps they play. The players listed all have totals over 0.07 penalty yards per snap. Which positions give up the most penalties and which positions penalties are the most costly. Number of Penalties by Position 106 - Offensive Line 58 - Defensive End 47 - Cornerback 47 - Tight End (including FB) 46 - Wide Receiver 44 - Linebacker 44 - Defensive Tackle 43 - Running Back 41 - Safety 14 - Quarterback 0 - Kicker / Punter Offensive Line obviously rank highly here since we're combining 3 positions together, individually Guards have 42, Tackles have 43 and Centres have 21 penalties against them. Penalty Yards by Position 820 - Offensive Line 492 - Defensive End 369 - Linebacker 343 - Defensive Tackle 341 - Running Back 339 - Cornerback 337 - Wide Receiver 331 - Tight End (including FB) 300 - Safety 119 - Quarterback 0 - Kicker / Punter And finally by looking at the average yardage perpenalty for each position we can see which positions' penalties are the most costly.
