*S22 NSFL 4 Round Mock Draft - Thiath - 03-31-2020

Hello ladies and gentlemen, back from my brief hiatus, it’s time for my second mock draft. A whole lot more has changed since the last one, and we haven’t even gotten to the expansion draft yet. Thankfully for me at the very least, some trades have been made! I don’t have to mock them myself. Though, I’d love to give my two cents on the trades made by the expansion teams, I feel it is unnecessary in this specific post. I will still be mocking two trades, you all know what picks they are. To make things just a bit more interesting, I won’t be mocking my own player, one because truthfully I haven’t the slightest clue which teams really want me. Secondly I want to keep this as unbiased as I possibly can by eliminating any conflicts of interest. As always, any tie breakers are decided by points against. Trades will be marked with * The most important thing to keep in mind, it’s still very early so these picks are still primarily based on need. There will be some estimations of team interest but it’s still far too soon to tell. Once again, a huge shoutout to @Troen for making an excellent team needs article. This was written prior to week 12 and before the recent Chicago trade and GM announcement.

Team Needs:

HON Honolulu needs: All
SAR Sarasota needs: All
ARI Arizona needs: S, DE, CB, DT, TE, LB
PHI Philadelphia needs: S, CB, DT, DE, LB
SJS San Jose needs: S, RB, WR, LB, K
CHI Chicago needs: CB, QB, LB, DL, K, S, RB
AUS Austin needs: DT, DE, S, K
COL Colorado needs: CB. LB, WR
YKW Yellowknife needs: S, LB, TE, WR, CB, DE
BAL Baltimore needs: CB, LB, S, DL, TE, WR
OCO Orange County needs: TE, RB, K, DL
NOLA New Orleans needs: S, LB, WR, DL

Now, there’s a few patterns beginning to emerge already. The most common needs for the majority of NSFL teams are, safety, linebacker, and cornerback. The only thing left to figure out, is which position will be taken early, and which can safely be waited on. Though I know some of you will most likely disagree with me this time around. For now, the trend for this mock draft will lean more towards defensive backs. After the playoffs and sometime before the draft, be sure to keep an eye open for my upcoming 10 round mock draft, in which I will use my own scouting reports and draft board more closely.

Round 1

1) Austin AUS * DT - Phat Boi

As with my previous mock draft, I once again have defensive tackle Phat Boi as the first overall selection. This time around however, I’m not as confident with Austin having the pick over an expansion team. While I don’t by any means expect him to fall out of the top five. The Copperheads are undoubtedly the biggest wild card in this draft outside of Honolulu and Sarasota. I cannot possibly say enough about Bdlck, he is certainly on a lot of GM’s lists, and being the top TPE of his class certainly helps.

2) New Orleans NOLA * DT - Magnus Rikiya

New Orleans is a team that I believe will be drafting players they want, over players they need. As such, with the second overall pick, they draft someone they really, really want. I don’t think this is a stretch by any means. From what I understand, the NOLA front office is very high on lady Tesla. Seeing as bex is in both the Norfolk and New Orleans war rooms, this pick should be obvious by now. After getting feedback on my original two round mock draft, I feel incredibly confident about Rikiya here.

3) Arizona ARI S - Johnny Hellzapoppin

Arizona is another team I fully expect to highly factor people they want over needs, at least in the back half of the draft. For now, they get the best of both worlds, they get a safety and someone a lot of teams want. Colabear has certainly made his presence felt throughout the league. Having been here little over a month, he’s set himself apart from the pack by taking the mantle of DSFL streamer. Being on the sim team this early on will certainly increase his draft stock. I also think he’s Irish, so that has to count for something as well.

4) Philadelphia PHI CB - Tyler Oles Jr

In my first mock draft, I got a lot of flack for having Bauer here over Oles. Since then, I’ve come to learn a little more about the league, and Philadelphia specifically. I’ve been told Philly has Ole’s in rather high regards, and it’s easy to see why. (I don’t remember his player name, please don’t shoot me.) A former GM, Hall of Famer, and a stunning career within the NSFL, Oles will definitely be a target on many lists.

5) San Jose SJS LB - Stanis?aw Koniecpolski

You’d think after spending a season in a locker room with one of the San Jose GM’s I’d have a better understanding of how they want to draft. However, I feel I know less about the Sabercats than most other teams. However, as far as I can tell, they’re quite interested. Given Maj’s resume in PBE as well as the NSFL, it’s not surprising.

6) Philadelphia PHI * LB - Derred de Ville

This is a pick that could go many different places. Having some flexibility in this draft, Philly has room to pick whomever they think is most valuable. I don’t know much about Exilizer personally, I’ve noticed he has made some noise around the league, and that will certainly draw interest.

7) Honolulu HON * WR - Eddie Jeeta

I don’t expect the expansion teams to be drafting for anything other than locker room presence. One of the best guys I’ve come to know in this league is Quirkyturtle, Aka Eddie Jeeta. If you want a player to stick around for a while and be a high earner, I fully expect Jeeta to be one.

8) Colorado CB COL - Bubba Thumper

Bauer is another guy that’s been around for some time. There’s not a shred of doubt in my mind that he gets picked in the first round. The only question is where? I’ve had a lot of people tell me that he’ll be off to New Orleans, but I personally don’t think they’d take him over the aforementioned Tesla. The other rumors I’ve heard having him falling to Colorado, I’m told there’s a connection there.

9) Yellowknife YKW LB - Fawn Dillmiballs

This pick is one that some may find surprising. Though with the linebacker class what it is, a needy team might have to sacrifice base TPE for longevity. Fawn aka booger is someone I had relatively highly ranked on my Brooklyn big board. He’s great in the locker room and will be a great addition to Yellowknife.

10) Baltimore BAL S - Buck Thornton

Buck Thornton is someone who’s been falling on my board lately. I’m not sure how NSFL teams feel about him currently. At the start of the season I know he was highly regarded as one of, if not the top safety of this year's class. Though I can’t say I’ve seen him around much since. For now, I think it’s still a safe bet he’ll be going early.

11) Orange County OCO TE - Jeffrey Phillips

Orange County has some very unique needs. As such, they could really do anything in the first round. I think their safest bet is to find a replacement for the explosive Johnny Blaze, who is already deep into regression. Jeffrey Phillips will certainly be just that. Being the highest earning tight end of his class, as well as being a relatively well known user with a high amount of activity will lock him in this pick. If the otters draft a tight end first of course.

12) New Orleans NOLA S - Matt “Son of Havoc” Cross

Some of you may already be seeing a pattern here. You’ll certainly be seeing very similar things occur later one. At twelve, after Bauer has already been selected, New Orleans looks for another user they know well. There is some merit in questioning whether or not Matt Cross would still be here at twelve, but New Orleans will happily take the opportunity.

Round 2

1) Honolulu HON S - Quinn Hughes

Safety is probably the hardest class to predict this year. There are quite a few high earners all within 10-12 tpe of each other, so at the end of the day it will all come down to personal preference. Is there a connection between Raven and isadore? I have no idea. Though if the expansion teams are looking to build a culture early, Quinn Hughes will be an excellent pick for that.

2) Sarasota SAR DT - Octavio Clemente

Remember what I said about patterns? Well, here’s your first glimpse at a big one. I fully expect all of the Myrtle Beach players to be high targets for Sarasota. The question of course is who do they land first? This pick could realistically be any position, the one thing I’m leaning on heavily is that it will be a former Buccaneer like the GM’s

3) Arizona ARI DE - Troen Egghands

Whomever Sarasota doesn’t take with their second round pick, I expect will likely fall into the hands of Arizona. If in this case it is Troen Egghands, it will be an incredible steal. Troen has a lot to offer a team, and it is more likely he will be drafted much higher than I’ve mocked him this time around.

4) Arizona ARI * DT - Mo “Mamba” Magic

Having back to back picks in the second round is an incredible advantage for the Outlaws. After getting a great player in Johnny Hellzapoppin in the first, they have the freedom to do what they want in the second. In a class that’s heavy on defense, Arizona goes back to back DL. Mo Magic will be a great addition to the locker room as well as the defense.

5) Baltimore BAL * CB - Chester Sweets

There’s a lot of great corners in this draft class, so it won’t surprise me to see some go in unexpected places. From what I know Chester Sweets has one of the most active NSFL twitter accounts. Coming from a surprisingly good Kansas City team, he should make an immediate impact in Baltimore if given the chance.

6) Philadelphia YKW * DE - Sandro Ryeu

Defensive end is somewhat limited in this class, once the first one is picked the rest will quickly follow. Sandro Ryeu is easily the second man behind egghands, at least in terms of TPE. I don’t know much as far as how active he is outside of the London locker room. Though in any case he should do well in Philly.

7) Austin CB AUS - Colt Mendoza

Now, I’ve heard many rumors that Austin actually has Mendoza ranked much higher than the second. After spending a season in the locker room with Kyle and Steg I can say there is no doubt a mutual interest. Austin is not the only team interested though, so whether or not he falls this far will have to be determined

8) Colorado COL WR - William Lim

The second receiver is gone and it’s no surprise who it is. Though I will admit there is the possibility William Lim is the first receiver on some lists, in this scenario he falls to the second. A very active player, and the highest TPE of all his fellow wideouts, I’d Colorado can snag him here they will certainly be happy to do so.

9) New Orleans NOLA * WR - Susan Cash Jr

Another Royals player I’m expecting to go high. Susan Cash is another high earning wideout, though as far as I’m aware he does not have the same presence as his counterparts. Even so, I expect the third receiver to be heading to New Orleans.

10) San Jose SJS * QB - Monty Jack

The absolute steal of the draft. San Jose gets their guy! One of two trades I’ve had to mock, San Jose trades down with Baltimore. Now of course, the one problem with this, Baltimore no longer has their second round pick. Seeing as this is my 16th revision of this mock, I’d rather not re-draft the entire order.

11) Orange County OCO RB - Kichwa Jones

The first running back off the board is from Dallas and no it’s not Gucci. This I have no doubt will be a surprise to some, but to my understanding, the Otters aren’t as interested in White Goodman as some have said. Therefore, in an effort to keep good chemistry they draft Phillips’ teammate Jones.

12) Yellowknife YKW * QB - Colby Jack

Another obvious trade, Yellowknife gets exactly what they want by trading down with New Orleans. I don’t know anything about Colby as a user so there’s not a lot that I can say here. By the cosmic powers of the gods Yellowknife also gets their guy!

The next two rounds are where things get much, much harder to really predict. With the class being the way it is, I can almost guarantee that every pick in rounds 3 and 4 will be solely based on who teams think will be a good addition to their locker room. My write ups from here onwards will be a bit more brief.

Round 3
1) Honolulu HON DT - Deshun Jones

Truthfully the more I think about it, the less I think Deshun Jones falls here. For now though, without knowing what I need for the upcoming ten round super mock, he’ll land comfortably in Honolulu.

2) Sarasota SAR CB - Brandon Booker

Following the trend, Sarasota elects to continue building their locker room with another former Buccaneer. Memento Mori is making a name for himself slowly but surely, though I fully expect him to stay with frost.

3) Arizona ARI CB - Eldrick Avery

Another player that’s active in london, above average earner, should definitely draw some attention. Even with such a corner heavy class, needy teams may find a combination of need and locker room presence that works out well.

4) Philadelphia PHI * DT - Big “Snacks” Edd

“Snacks” is a lot of fun in the locker room, and someone who I don’t think a lot of teams have taken a look at. Falling into the third, Philly gets an active player they can use in rebuilding their defense.

5) San Jose SJS LB - Lawrence Bass

I’ve seen Bass around only a few times, but he’s definitely active. I can’t say what he’s like in the locker room, but a class with not a lot for linebackers, it’s a pick San Jose would love to make.

6) Chicago CHI * QB - Jim Waters

Siddhus gets his wish, he’s off to Chicago. Oh? What’s this? Chicago no longer has a third? Sorry Siddhus, I did my best.

7) Honolulu HON * TE - Heath Evans

As we’ve yet to see the expansion draft take place, I can’t say for certain what the expansion team’s strategies will be. However, if Raven wants to get an explosive offense started with Corvo Harvan. Heath Evans is a great choice.

8) Colorado COL LB - HaHa-Mango Panda

Another instance where a team brings former teammates together. This time, Panda, and William Lim. Quickly putting together a duo that works well together, bringing life to the locker room.

9) Yellowknife YKW S - Sebastian Vettel

I have Vettel Falling from where I had him in my first mock draft simply because I think the safety markey is impossible to correctly predict. In any case, Yellowknife gets an active player that has proven to be a good earner.

10) Baltimore BAL DE - Patrik Money

This is where things get a bit muddy. I don’t know hardly anything about Patrik Money. I’ve seen him maybe once on discord but he’s got a higher than average TPE so it’s possible Baltiore makes the jump.

11) Orange County OCO DE - James Cho

Whatever defensive end is available here, is who I expect Orange County to pick. In this scenario it’s James Cho. Decently active, should be a good presence for the locker room as well.

12) Sarasota SAR * WR - Michael Witheblock

Eddie’s teammate Witheblock goes to his future rival. From what I know they’re both really good guys, so I wouldn’t at all be surprised if Michael ends up going much sooner.

Round 4
1) Honolulu HON RB - White Goodman

Gucci, I know I told you before this that I had mocked you to San Jose. I’m sorry to disappoint. It’s entirely possible, likely in fact, that Goodman goes in the first three. Though in this scenario, teams didn’t prioritize running back in the first two. Though when locker room value is factored in, that’s where I expect Gucci to rise.

2) Sarasota SAR QB - Ben Slothlisberger

I don’t think it’s a question of if Sarasota will draft a quarterback here. I think it’s a question of which quarterback is available. I have no way of knowing (at least at the time of writing) who this will be, so I’ve gone with the best case scenario.

3) Arizona ARI LB - George “Corpse Grinder” Fisher

Another player I’ve only seen around very sparsely, but having an active linebacker is important regardless. With the class quickly slimming, Arizona looks to get the best value they can.

4) Arizona ARI * WR - Thomas Passman

On the other side of the coin, the wide receiver class is still largely open. Passman sticks mostly to the luchadores server as far as I’m aware, but I’m told he is an excellent character, and if he happens to fall to the later rounds. He would certainly be a wonderful pick up.

5) San Jose SJS RB - Acura Skyline

Am I still going to get accused of bias if I’ve put so many Royals in here? With San Jose missing out on Gucci, they take the gamble on a somewhat lesser known prospect that has slowly been making noise.

6) Austin AUS * LB - Benson Bayley Jr

Yes, this pick is wrong now, please move along, I didn’t want to re-do the entire draft. Again.

7) Austin AUS S - Wesley Erikson

Lightnoir is a player I’m really excited to see succeed in the NSFL. Given the fact that we’ve built a friendly competition around being so similar in TPE. (we’re tied again by the way.) This pick is more along the lines of, if we can’t be on the same team I’d want him to do well in Austin.

8) Colorado COL RB - Tatsu Nakamura

After addressing their biggest needs in the first three rounds, Colorado has freedom here to pick whomever they want. While they don’t particularly need running back support, Tatsu brings a presence that’s too good to pass up at this point in the draft.

9) Yellowknife YKW CB - Cadillac Harris

Cadillac is an interesting character. In some ways that could be detrimental and in others, some may find it intriguing. After Bauer, Oles, and Steg, the cornerback class becomes increasingly difficult to predict. Yellowknife will certainly be getting an active user with this pick, at the very least.

10) Baltimore BAL WR - Kevin Koh

With the receiver class still widely open, Baltimore strikes at the opportunity to get an active earner and well liked player in Kevin Koh.

11) Orange County OCO CB -Ben Stackinpaper

As said before, corners are hard to predict. This is an instance of activity over TPE. I could be wrong, but I believe Ben has made a mock draft of his own recently that you can all go check out. After reading mine of course.

12) New Orleans NOLA LB - Jack Banks

Another pattern here, New Orleans takes a guy they know, Jack Banks is a name I’m not sure many are familiar with, though I fully expect him to be someone the Second Line will be targeting at some point in the draft.

Closing thoughts:

There are a few issues I have personally with this mock, I tried my very hardest to draft as I expect the teams to do. However, with so much going on in the last 48 hours, I decided to forgo some of the thoroughness I had originally planned for this mock draft. Please remember to take these picks with a large grain of salt, as there is still a lot that could change between now and the draft.

*S22 NSFL 4 Round Mock Draft - J0EB - 03-31-2020

Nicely done Thiath! I like what you've got here quite a bit (and not just because it's the first mock I've seen where I go round 1). God that 10 round mock would be hell though, good luck with it!

*S22 NSFL 4 Round Mock Draft - Tesla - 03-31-2020

Strong agree with J0EB! Although I must say I love it as I would be thrilled to move to a team alongside them.

That said definitely take some time to yourself to recover before you get to your ten round version. We are looking forward to it, but we will be patient for your well being. Best of luck!
