*Who To Protect? ARZ Edition - ValorX77 - 04-02-2020 Hello fellow simmers, and welcome to the second edition of, "Who To Protect?", the series that we go through all the team’s rosters, and determine what 7 players should be protected in the upcoming expansion draft. Today we’ll be focusing on the Arizona Outlaws, and ask the question, Who To Protect? Before we dive into the list, I’ll once again explain how my system works, we have tier list of 3 tiers. First Tier: Shield That Boi! This tier is rather simple, the player is too risky to leave exposed in this upcoming draft. Second Tier: A Later Protection. This tier is another simple tier, they should be exposed but protected immediately after you lose someone else. The Bottom Tier: Hasta La Vista Baby. Another simple answer, this person needs to be sent off to Sarasota or Honolulu, he/she does not have any value on the team. We must analyze the team before we decide who gets sent to the picking grounds. The team: 3-10 5th in the conference, tied with the Philadelphia Liberty for the league’s worst win loss record. The Outlaws averaged 18.5 points per game, which is only good for 8th in the league and fourth in their conference. Their defense on the other hand was the true downfall of this franchise allowing an average of 29.2 points per game! That is historically bad, and overshadowed the look of the Cue-Donut-Ruff-Irving offense. Jay Cue: Protected. Cue is the Outlaws 2nd year quarterback, despite putting up lackluster numbers in his sophomore season, who put up pretty decent numbers, completing 277 of 503 passes, for 3,522 yards, and threw 21 touchdowns to 10 interceptions with a 82.8 quarterback rating, besides it was a bad defense that brought the team down, not Cue. He is 100% getting protected. Lucas Knight: Protected. Lucas Knight is clearly the backbone of the Outlaws secondary for the last few seasons, including an Ultimus in the sixteenth season. He had a solid season with 60 tackles, 8 pass deflections and 2 interceptions. There is a downside to his protection because he will enter regression next season meaning he does not have that long in his career. Still, he’s worth a protection slot. Saba Donut: Protected. Remember when they tried to give their main receiver 24 million sim dollars in a single season? That would’ve made their record much worse! As previous mentioned, Saba is the team’s no.1 receiver besides their tight end, in Jammerson Irving. Saba had 978 receiving yards, averaged 15.8 yards per catch, and caught 10 touchdowns, the solid "Sweet Flash" is 100% worth a protection slot, you need to protect your main guys and Saba is one of them! Jammerson Irving: Exposed What happens when your player goes IA? You either become a journeyman or you’re drowning in minimum contracts, unfortunately Irving is a slave to being paid less because he hasn’t been on since chomping in Turkey at a thanksgiving dinner. Yeah it’s been that long since he’s been on. He had probably the craziest season at a TE even though he’s inactive. Having 1281 receiving yards, averaging 15.4 yards per carry, but only catching 3 touchdowns. For the first time in his career, Irvin will find himself in the beaches of Sarasota or Honolulu. Galf Wilf: Protected Once the co-gm of the Outlaws, now the main linebacker in a struggling outlaws defense, the future is looking shaky, but Arizona has a large draft to utilize to fill any holes lost in this draft. Wilf had a dominant season as the teams main linebacker, with 106 tackles, 1 for a loss of yardage, 8 sacks, 1 interceptions and 8 passes deflected. He’s definitely a linebacker of the year candidate and 100% worth a protection slot in this dangerous game of keep away. Ruff Ruff: Exposed Another similar situation to Jammerson Irving, in which the player went inactive, Ruff Ruff also had the help of the team to not earn the dreaded "journeyman" label, and unfortunately, Arizona’s run game was deemed the worst in the league by our metric systems, putting a messily 78.2 yards per game average, showing they need to call up Baby Yoda to overtake ruff who has not been a very good boy. Ruff managed to run for 957 yards, averaging 4.4 yards per carry and only having a lackluster total of 2 rushing touchdowns, what a disappointing display by Ruff, he’s definitely heading to the doghouse for that! Looks like Ruff will be adopted by Honolulu or Sarasota very soon. Automatic GM protections: Desmond Scarlett and Jamie Nikah These two are the the current general managers of the Outlaws so, they automatically take up 2 protection slots because of their hard efforts as they earn another season of.. staying put! Sounds exciting right? Shane Masters: Protected One of our last protected players is Shane Masters, a moderate earning defensive tackle from the largely forgettable seventeenth national simulation football league draft, he’s active and earns on a moderate, but consistent pace, which makes him one of more underrated players in the league right now. 43 tackles, 8 for a loss of yardage, and 8 sacks. This player is what many people think as not worth a protection slot but in my opinion he’s extremely underrated and Arizona would look really bad if they did not protect him. Jah Bur’Berry: Protected Our final non S21 player that will get the protection slot is Jah Bur’Berry, a young WR in a youthful Arizona offense. Just like masters, he’s a moderate earner, he’s expected to be one of the league’s top receivers one day. He caught 52 passes for 665 receiving yards, averaging 12.2 yards per catch, and catching 5 touchdowns. He had a really good sophomore season, and is still young so he still needs some time to develop, so he snags the final spot in Arizona’s safety net to avoid being picked up by Honolulu or Sarasota. Pete Miller and J.J Jamison are automatically protected because they were taken in S21’s large draft class. That raps up this edition of who to protect, ask in the messages below to tell me who to write about next or should I create my own mock draft, just let me know. Code: 1012 words and 1.5x media ready to be graded. *Who To Protect? ARZ Edition - iamslm22 - 04-02-2020 Good job Valor - been enjoying this series *Who To Protect? ARZ Edition - Moosecop - 04-02-2020 I think I'll settle for Wilf making a pro bowl this season. LBOTY too far away. Good read all around. |
