*Norfolk Drama Amidst Early Playoff Exit? - Lightnoir - 04-07-2020 Reports indicate a schism has formed in the Norfolk locker room following their painful shut out loss against local rivals Myrtle Beach. My sources report that self-appointed defensive team captain Wesley Eriksen stood up amongst his down-trodden teammates and a flurry of emotion poured out. My sources tell me Eriksen said the following: "That was a very disappointing loss and I absolutely take my share of the blame. I was offsides twice and as a safety I know I'm far better than that. I'm extremely proud of all of you and admire the dedication you show on and off the field." A damning indictment to be sure. This opening statement allegedly spurred an outpouring of violent emotion from the rest of the team. "It's absolutely unfair," Matt Cross is said to have said, "that we couldn't show the league the best of what we have to offer, but I have no animosity towards my teammates or the Norfolk staff." Magnus Rikiya was the next to vent their frustrations: "I hate Myrtle Beach-" the star defensive tackle said, "'s away locker room because the acoustics are so poor, but besides that they're a terrific program that deserves recognition." Absolute pandemonium. My sources go on to tell me that following this outpouring of vitriol the team huddled together and talked openly about their feelings, before going out that night and celebrating their success in being the winningest Norfolk team of all time as well as fantastic friends. Following the loss there's been rumor of a change in management in Norfolk, with some believing Juniped and Scorp may be out of their element. I reached out to Norfolk Chairman, Doug Norfolk for comment: "These claims are completely unsubstantiated." Mr. Norfolk said, "We love working with Mr. Scorp and Mr. Juniped and would be delighted to have them on for the foreseeable future." Will this program be able to recover from their misfortunes? Yeah, probably. Norfolk hopes to retain a bulk of their talent going into next season, but it's an understandably difficult proposition given that the star studded cast seems ready for next level football. "I would be proud to stay another year," said team heartthrob Eriksen, "but if I get picked up by a team that needs my talents I'd be proud to take my game to the next level." When asked about his thoughts on playing at the next level, Thubba Bumper had this to say: "I'm just here so I don't get fined." I for one hope Norfolk can grow past this drama and that it doesn't become a black mark on an otherwise proud program. -436 words. Also I didn't ask any of my teammates for permission to use their names. A shockingly mean comment from Tesla there. |
