*Biggest hit I've ever seen" An Eric Richards stor - WildfireMicro - 04-15-2020 Eric Richards looks out the window as the bus travels to Fairdale Kentucky for what seems to be another normal high school football game. His teammates were busy working themselves up for the game. Eric was doing the same but mentally. His teammates knew he was a man of few words, preferring to let his actions speak louder then his words. "Hey Eric!" Their QB Jeremy Jermaine said "did you hear what that Fairdale QB said about you?" He handed a newspaper to Eric with it having an article saying that the Fairdale QB Matt Grey said that Eric was "extremely overrated, I will easily be able to burn him" "Guys" Eric said as he shakily held the newspaper in anger "I am gonna make him eat his words. Just watch me. He loves to run towards his right when he's scrambling so I will punish him if he does" "That's right big man!" Jeremy laughed as he and the other player shook Eric around to hype him up. "Give him a reminder of who you are!" Not long after they reached Fairdale, a town Eric was familiar with since he had an Aunt and Uncle who lives there. He saw Matt Grey, who was warming up with his teammates, come up to him with a smirk on his face. "There's Mr.big shot" Matt laughed "the most overrated player in all of this state. Look buddy you might as well give up-hey what's with that look?" Eric was sending Matt a look of pure anger, having been both offended and worked up by Matt's comments. "Alright save it for the field you two" The coaches say as they separate the two. Eric ran a few laps to try to calm himself down before the game, with mixed success. It's not long before the game is ready to start, and wouldn't you know it the Fairdale High School Bulldogs get the ball first. They get the kick down to the 30 yard line and Eric puts on his helmet, ready for the first defensive snap. The ball is snapped and all the receivers are covered. Matt decides to scramble, avoiding a defensive lineman before being able to see an extremely angry Eric a second before he lands a BIG hit on him, just barely controlling himself so as not to do helmet to helmet. The audience groans as Matt falls and fumbles the ball and Eric picks it up and runs it in for a touchdown, slamming the ball into the end zone hard. It was only after scoring that he noticed Matt being helped by medical staff, and he felt bad. He went back to the sideline where he was talked to be the defensive coordinator. "Eric i never seen a hit like that! What got into you?" "He got in my head and I couldn't help myself coach" Eric admitted as he looked down to the ground "i know i went to far" "No Eric hitting a guy helmet to helmet is too far" The coordinator smiled "he will be fine, I've seen players with concussions and he doesn't seem to have one. Eric don't apologize for making a big play, unless it results in a flag" "Guess you're right coach" Eric smiled back "sometimes I am a bit too nice for this" "That's alright Eric just remember what I told you" Eric's team, the Dragons, ended up winning 40-7 and the next day Jeremy came up to him with a new newspaper that said "Matt Grey quits! After a big hit from Eric Richards of the Bullitt Lick Dragons, Matt has quit football due to fear of injury" "You knocked him into an early retirement Eric!" Jeremy laughed "that outta show anyone who would want to say you're overrated!" Eric laughed with him "yeah. I guess that outta do that" "I just hope I don't have to feel a big hit like that when we separate into different colleges!" "We will see Jeremy." Eric said as he walked into the high school. "We will see..." |
