*Where the S21 DSFL Draft Luchadores end up - indonesianhusker - 04-23-2020

With both the S22 NSFL and DSFL draft done, many players will be moving into their new locker rooms. Just like all the teams in the DSFL, the Tijuana Luchadores will be saying goodbye to some of their players and welcome newcomers to their locker room. This is just a recap on where Luchadores’ S21 DSFL draftees end up in the S22 NSFL Draft. I will list everyone and which team picked them but will only do a write up until the 10th round because the last active player was drafted there. To summarize, this is where the S21 DSFL draftees from Tijuana end up in the NSFL:

HON = 8
CHI = 6
COL = 6
NOLA = 4
ARI = 3
OCO = 2
SAR = 2
YKW = 2
SJS = 1

The Honolulu Hahalua seem to have an affinity for Luchadores players as they drafted 8 players from Tijuana this draft class. This is followed by the Butchers and the Yeti with each drafting 6 players from the Luchadores. The New Orleans Second Line only picked 4 but three of them were picked in the first three rounds of the draft.

Round 1
Pick 12 - Andrew Witten (CB) NOLA
Andrew Witten was the first Luchadores off the board in the S22 NSFL Draft. He was a surprise first round pick as almost everyone expected the New Orleans Secondline to pick their future QB in Ben Slothlisberger. Witten will fill a hole left by players taken in the expansion draft in New Orleans’ secondary. He had 50 tackles last season in the DSFL and defended 12 passes thrown at him. Expect him to be playing immediately in the NSFL.

Round 2
Pick 17 - Ben Slothlisberger (QB) NOLA
Everyone’s consensus 12th pick was off the board in pick 17, taken by the Secondline. He has previous connections to New Orleans and poised to go to the Secondline even before he got drafted to the DSFL. Slothlisberger threw for 1222 yards and four touchdowns last season. He is capped right now but will remain with the Luchadores for at least another season.

Round 3
No Luchadores player was taken in the 3rd round.

Round 4
Pick 40 - Calvin Golladay (OL) ARI
Arizona picked an offensive lineman back to back in the 4th round, the second being Calvin Golladay. Golladay was a wall for the Luchadores last season. Quarterbacks Ben Slothlisberger and Jim Waters were protected by the massive presence of Calvin Golladay. He had 46 pancakes and only allowed 3 sacks in the course of the season. He will be playing immediately in the NSFL.

Pick 44 - Thomas Passman (WR) ARI
The satanic wide receiver was picked 44th overall by the Outlaws. He will be expected to contribute immediately for the Outlaws and help them become more competitive. He had 64 catches for 831 yards and three touchdowns last season. He could have been picked higher if it were not for concerns regarding his off-field antics, including getting arrested by the police and being summoned to court. Do not be surprised if he pulls off demonic spells to help the Outlaws win the Ultimus.

Pick 48 - LiterallyJust A. Hexagon (S) NOLA
Everyone’s favorite speedy hexagon was picked 48th overall by the Secondline. By this point, he was the third Luchadores player going to New Orleans. He will also help improve the team’s secondary when he is eventually called up to the NSFL. Hexagon is known in the Luchadores locker room as someone obsessed with speed. He has been seen injecting speed into his muscles, skins, bones, tendons, eyes, blood vessels, and internal organs. That speed has certainly helped his performance as Hexagon accrued 103 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 3 interceptions, and also had 5 passes defended.

Round 5
No Luchadores player was taken in the 5th round.

Round 6
Pick 65 - George Fisher (LB) SJS
The San Jose Sabercats spent their 6th round pick on linebacker George ‘Corpse Grinder’ Fisher. The heavy metal linebacker will improve the Sabercats’ defense. Still available in the 6th round, Fisher can be called one of the true steals in this draft. He has proven himself to be versatile as he had 116 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 2 passes defended. Expect him to stand out on the defensive side of the ball next season for San Jose.

Pick 66 - Julio Tirtawidjaja (RB) CHI
With the 6th pick in the 6th round, the Chicago Butchers picked Julio Tirtawidjaja 66th overall. Many might think this pick was a reach and another blunder by Chicago, citing Tirtawidjaja’s lack of on field production in S21 for the Luchadores. He only had 13 carries for 70 yards and 5 receptions for 28 yards. However, he was able to convert his 13 carries into two touchdowns. He is expected to be the Butchers starting running back of the future, replacing Ryan Leaf Jr. after his departure to the Copperheads. The rookie will immediately play in Chicago along with Farley Hank in S22, providing Rose Jenkins another receiving outlet on the field.

Round 7
Pick 76 - Richard Gilbert (RB) COL
Richard Gilbert was picked in 76th overall by the Colorado Yetis. This was an excellent pick by Colorado and to get a running back with such caliber in the 7th round was truly a steal. Gilbert had 198 carries and ran for 978 yards behind Ed Barker while also becoming the first running back in this draft class to reach 10 touchdowns. His talent and skills are obvious and he is definitely in the running to be one of the greatest running backs in NSFL’s history. As the Yetis still have productive players in the backfield, Gilbert will spend at least another season with the Luchadores and help them in their hunt for the Ultimini.

Pick 83 - Magnus Valdyr (S) YKW
The Wraiths add another strong player to their already stacked defense in Magnus Valdyr. Valdyr was impressive in his season with the Luchadores, coming up with big performances, including scoring two pick-sixes in a game. In addition to his pick-sixes, Valdyr also had 50 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 2 sacks, and 4 passes defended. He will continue his development with at least an extra season in the DSFL with the Luchadores.

Round 8
No Luchadores player was taken in the 8th round.

Round 9
Pick 97 - Ozamataz Buckshank (CB) HON
Ozamataz Buckshank was picked 97th overall by new expansion team Honolulu Hahalua. Buckshank had a decent season in S21 for the Luchadores. He had 32 tackles, 2 interceptions and an impressive record of 13 passes defended. He will continue his development for at least another season with the Luchadores in the DSFL.

Pick 100 - Friedrich Vequain (WR) ARI
This draft class’ 100th overall pick was Friedrich Vequain by the Arizona Outlaws. He had a nice season for the Luchadores with 50 receptions for 580 yards and 2 touchdowns. Vequain might be able to maintain separation from opposing defensive backs but he cannot seem to separate himself from Thomas Passman. Vequian wrote an open letter about his feelings having to share another locker room with Passman. There are rumors going around he has seen traumatic things done by Passman last season when they were together in Tijuana. Vequain can breathe a sigh of relief for at least this season as he will spend S22 with the Tijuana Luchadores and continue his development away from the presence of Thomas Passman.

Pick 102 - Nat Wright (LB) COL
The Colorado Yeti picked Nat Wright with the 102nd overall pick. Wright will spend the upcoming season with the Luchadores as he still has some development to do. He had a decent year playing alongside Ugarth the Dissector and George Fisher last season in the DSFL. Wright had 37 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 sack, and 1 pass defended.

Round 10
Pick 109 - Jim Waters (QB) HON
The Honolulu Hahalua got a very good quarterback prospect in Jim Waters. He is capped in the DSFL and has certainly earned more in his bank. Waters was the second quarterback Honolulu picked in this draft after they picked Luke Skywalker in the 6th round. Waters is a really fast quarterback and also has developed quite nicely in his one season in the DSFL. He is the one half of Luchadores’ QB duo with Ben Slothlisberger. Waters threw for 1028 yards and 5 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 49.3%. He also rushed 36 yards and a touchdown. He will be back for at least another season with the Luchadores but he will be a valuable prospect for Honolulu, whether it be as a future replacement for Corvo Havran or as a trade chip to other QB-needy teams.

Pick 110 - Jacob Small (K/P) SAR
The Sarasota Sailfish picked Kiwi kicker Jacob Small with their 110th overall pick. Small was a great kicker for the Luchadores and he was highly accurate. He made 33 out of 36 extra point kicks and 17 out of 21 field goals. He is 7/7 from the 20-29 yard range, 5/7 from the 30-39 yard range, and 4 /5 from the 40-49 yard range. He still needs to develop his kicking strength but once he has that, he will be a tremendous help to the offense as they can add points from as far as 50+ yards away. Small will be spending another season with the Luchadores.

Round 11
Pick 128 - Devaunte Sackpieder (LB) COL
Pick 130 - Rondo Jones (TE) OCO

Round 12
Pick 135 - D’Brickashaw Cannon (DE) CHI
Pick 136 - James Carson (OL) HON
Pick 140 - Sylvester Berlin (OL) COL

Round 15
Pick 171 - Cavalier Craighorn (QB) CHI
Pick 176 - Fatso Wombat (LB) COL

Round 16
Pick 184 - Nick Jones (CB) HON
Pick 192 - Vince Waterhouse (RB) NOLA

Round 17
Pick 193 - John Nesbitt (DT) HON
Pick 198 - Kade Hines (DT) CHI
Pick 199 - Chudds Whittaker (LB) SAR
Pick 203 - Logan Marshall (WR) YKW

Round 18
Pick 207 - Terrell Brister Jr. (WR) CHI
Pick 214 - Julius Andersson (LB) OCO

Round 19
No Luchadores player was taken in the 19th round.

Round 20
Pick 229 - BooBoo Rodgers (CB) HON

Round 21
Pick 241 - Farrior Deschain (DE) HON
Pick 244 - Max McClure (TE) HON
Pick 248 - Matt Elam (S) COL

Round 22
No Luchadores player was taken in the 22nd round.

Round 23
Pick 267 - Bucky Laurence (DT) CHI

Round 24
No Luchadores player was taken in the 24th round.
