Hendrix May Not Refuse Certain Teams - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 07-14-2017

With the NSFL draft only a short time away, news surrounding prospects is being generated like crazy. One concerning trend that seems to be popping up lately in some of these stories is that certain prospects will refuse to play for certain teams in the league even if they are drafted there. While this may seem like a bold strategy to try and land on a better team if you're a high profile prospect, it can completely backfire as well if teams in the league see this as having a toxic personality that could pollute the locker room. In the midst of multiple reports surrounding prospects sending ultimatums regarding where they play, S2 OL prospect Micah Hendrix's agent James Hendrix released the following statement:

"There's been a lot of chatter lately around the league about certain prospects potentially refusing to play for teams if they don't like their landing spot. I want to make it clear that Micah has no intention of refusing to play for any teams. He loves the game and he wants to come in and help any team willing to draft him to improve. And believe me any team that drafts him whether it's the Hawks or the NSFL Champion Outlaws will improve. Micah's job is to play football, mine is to make sure his needs are met. I think you'll find we are both reasonable people and we're certainly looking forward to Micah's career in the league."

A somewhat unnecessary statement it seems as you would hope this is what most teams expect already. We reached out to Hendrix for further comments, but what his agent told us was this:
"There's no story here, as a rookie you get picked by a team, you play for that team. That's how it works. When I was younger I was supposed to be drafted in the NFL. No teams picked me, not one. I would have given anything to play for even the worst team there. I ended up sucking it up and playing in the CFL because I still had a love for the game and a passion to play. You can't come into the NSFL as a rookie and expect to throw your weight around when, quite frankly, in the eyes of the league you have no weight to throw around. Respect has to be earned first, then maybe you can call the shots a little bit. It's ridiculous, that's the all I will say further on this matter. Micah is focusing on the draft and working hard wherever he goes."

It's unclear if Hendrix's agent is using these comments as a tactic to improve his client's draft position or if as a former player himself, he just has a strong opinion on this matter. Either way, a prospect's attitude, whether positive or negative, could be something for teams to consider as they finalize their draft boards.

Lmao!!!! Instantly earned my respect. I have 2 teams I'd prefer to go to just because I've been in continuous contact with the GMs, but I understand that it is a DRAFT and I could end up anywhere.
