Team Breakdowns - Admin - 05-23-2017 Code: 1060 words = 850k - ready for grading Now that all of the General Managers and Co-General Managers are in place on each team we can see which 2 players each team is starting with. These choices can tell us a lot about what each team looks like they want to do in the draft and as their vision for their team. ![]() GM - @RayCobaine Player: All Around CB - Jason Williams Co-GM - @evryday Player: Speed Rusher LB - Erasmo Broadway Overview: The Baltimore Hawks have two defensive players as their general managers. The draft will be an interest insight into how they intend to build their team. If they take another defensive player early then you can be sure that they are going to be building a team based on having a strong defense and worrying about the offense at a later time. With their being so many draft eligible quarterbacks and only 2 teams whose general managers aren't quarterbacks it means the teams without a quarterback already can afford to wait to draft one. If the hawks wait to take a quarterback and he pans out he could end up being the steal of the draft and could lead the Hawks to early success along side their strong defense. :grizzlies: Denver Grizzlies GM - @`incitehysteria` Player: Speed Rusher LB - Wyatt Fulton Co-GM - @ Player: Pocket Passer QB - Logan Noble Overview: The Denver Grizzlies already have their pocket passing quarterback, Logan Noble, and their edge rushing linebacker, Wyatt Fulton. One can safely assume the Grizzlies will employ a 3-4 defense that would star Wyatt Fulton in a Von Willer or DeMarcus Ware role coming off of the edge. On offense I would expect the team to take a runningback or wide receiver early in the draft to give Logan Noble some targets to distribute the ball to. Their big quarterback is a statue in the pocket and it will be paramount that they surround him with talented weapons to help his development as much as possible. A dominant receiver like Josh Garden and a versatile runningback like Vick Bowers Jr. would create a dynamic offense for the Grizzlies and cause fits for a defensive coordinator to gameplan to stop. ![]() GM - @NUCK Player: Speed RB - Bubba Nuck Co-GM - @RavensFanFromOntario Player: Mobile QB - Tyler Varga Overview: The Yellowknife Wraiths look like they are going to be a team built on speed. I would expect them to add a speedy receiver to their offense and stretch out defenses all over the field. With a mobile quarterback in Tyler Varga and a speedy runningback in Bubba Nuck this team will be difficult to defense if they can add another playmaker to take the top off a defense. Teams would be forced to play off to respect the deep ball which would open up the stretch running game for Nuck. If teams drop down in the box to stop Nuck then a receiving threat would have a prime opportunity to go deep, and if both are covered Varga has no problem tucking the ball and running. The real question about this team will come on defense. They will need to make defense a key focus in the draft and may have to take best player available on defense rather than trying to fill the defensive positions they need most. Smart coaching should allow a best player available approach to work well and put players in their best position to succeed even if its not exactly what they are used to playing. ![]() GM - @`incitehysteria` Player: Position TBD - King Bronko Co-GM - @Bushito Player: All-Around RB - Brady Stropko Overview: The Arizona Outlaws are the hardest team to evaluate at this point in time as one of their general managers has not chosen a position yet. All we have to go off of at this point in time is All-Around runningback Brady Stropko. If I had to guess I would say King Bronko is going to be a player on defense. I don't think he will be a quarterback because there are so many quarterbacks to choose from and if he created one it would mean that five out of six teams in the league have their general managers as their starting quarterback, giving the Baltimore Hawks their pick of the litter when it comes to the draft eligible quarterbacks. I do expect the Outlaws to feature a run heavy attack on offense led by Brady Stropko. I predict the young runningback will be a high fantasy football selection when fantasy football is ready to launch in season 2. ![]() GM - @Grapehead Player: Mobile QB - Anthony Petrakis Co-GM - @Official DT Player: All-Around CB - Jackson Harris Overview: It is difficult to try and predict what the Orange County Otters are going to aim to do in the upcoming National Simulation Football League draft. They already have a self proclaimed lock down cornerback in Jackson Harris and a talented quarterback in Anthony Petrakis. The Otters could go in any direction in the draft but I have a feeling they will try to build their defense first and then fill the supporting cast around Anthony Petrakis. On offense the team will rely Petrakis' legs to make some magic happen early until they can get some more talent around him. This is just a feeling, a best guess if you will. The Otters could very well go the other direction and take offense early and often instead. ![]() GM - @Perkules Player: Gunslinger QB - Jameis Christ Co-GM - @ckroyal92 Player: Playmaker S - Ja Brill Overview: The San Jose SaberCats come into the league with a locked in starting quarterback in Jameis Christ and a playmaking safety with Ja Brill. I think the team will look to build around Jameis Christ early in the draft and will hope that some defensive players will fall to them a little later in the draft. The SaberCats will be an offense that scores on big plays as often as they can while hoping their defense can create turnovers. I would expect the team to set their defensive scheme based on who falls to them in the draft rather than trying to fit players into a scheme they decide on beforehand. This strategy should allow the team to get the best players rather than the best fits and will give their players the best chance to succeed in the scheme they choose. Team Breakdowns - NUCK - 05-23-2017 Great insight and thanks for scouting the opposition for me ![]() Team Breakdowns - ADwyer87 - 05-23-2017 King Bronko is a super athlete as well as a team player. He can play every position, but wants to wait to see what the team needs from him first Team Breakdowns - Grapehead - 05-23-2017 Nice! You should do a follow up after the draft and compare with what actually happens. Team Breakdowns - RavensFanFromOntario - 05-23-2017 We plan to draft all the QB's, and run a rugby lineup with laterals from Remember the Titans. Team Breakdowns - DELIRIVM - 05-23-2017 Denver is definitely looking to make a dynamic team on both sides of the ball. We want Noble to make plays with his arm. We're glad we have a Pocket QB. Someone that can go out there and focus on getting the ball to the playmakers and putting them in the right position. Not a big fan of running QBs. Team Breakdowns - Bushito - 05-24-2017 I plan only to be the best HB this league ever does see. Team Breakdowns - JBLAZE_THE_BOSS - 05-30-2017 Grade Word Count: You had 1060, I had 1089, weird stuff same pay Payout: 850K Rounded up to 1100 word payout. Commentary: As previously established, I love articles like this. It really lets people take a closer look at the situations they'll be getting themselves into. I like the little nugget about fantasy football being dropped in S2 that will be something else. This was a really nice write up and logical on all fronts as to how things were initially presented. There are a lot of QB's in the league. There are a lot of teams that could load up on either side of the ball. Interesting to see how it'll go. |
