*NOLA @ HON Highlights - Tesla - 05-10-2020 Agent Tesla: Hello and good time appropriate greeting to you dear viewer! I am here today with my client Magnus Rikiya to go over some of the highlights of the New Orleans Second Line's game against the Honolulu Hahalua from week five and just talk a bit about the game in general. We will see how exactly we feel after getting through the highlights. Well while the curse was broken last week we are back to praising the opposition to start this week, but I get the feeling you will not mind that as much this time around. Magnus Rikiya: On the one hand I get to celebrate my friend getting their first sack at the National Simulation Football League level, but on the other hand it came in the first quarter against my team. Bittersweet. About six minutes into the game, first and ten on the New Orleans eighteen yard line, Stan Francisco takes the snap and drops back, and promptly gets brought to the turf by Momona Keiki-K?ne. Instant sack is worth celebrating either way, but what really makes this play for me is the fact that Momona fought through a double team to get it. Against our offensive line that is definitely worthy of congratulations. Agent Tesla: Agreed on all counts. Fabulous job by Momona to break past the double team to get the sack and credit where it is due even if it came against us. Magnus Rikiya: I would have much rather it come against a different team, but Momona is a beast regardless of the stat sheet in my experience. Agent Tesla: Quite right! Our next highlight came with just about two minutes left in the first quarter and is an outstanding job by Marcella. First and ten on the New Orleans thirty-four yard line and she takes the hand off up the right side with blockers in front of her. Makes her way out of three would be tackles before a Hahalua member finally manages to properly connect, but even with that connection she still carried on for three tough yards before being brought down. Nineteen yards total on a run where she made her way through four different defenders. Magnus Rikiya: Marcella is one of the most elusive runners in the league. I am never surprised to see her make a magnificent play like that, but I am always excited to see it! Agent Tesla: Strong agree there Magnus! There were a few more borderline plays that I want to quickly shout out this drive like the twenty yard reception by Ed Barker, the tackle at the two yard line by Victor Moreno, and the two yard touchdown while covered by Rainier Wolfcastle. Great drive for the New Orleans Second Line to tie it up near the start of the second quarter. Magnus Rikiya: Love to see a tight end who can box out a defender. Agent Tesla: When it is for your team definitely! Next highlight comes about four minutes into the second quarter. First and seventeen on the New Orleans seven yard line after a soft penalty was called and Stan Francisco drops back. Everyone is covered and pocket is collapsing so Stan throws it up for grabs and unfortunately for Stan and New Orleans Emondov Emoji is the one who comes down with it. Great play by Honolulu all around to be able to cover everyone this well and to collapse the pocket. Magnus Rikiya: Not the most spectacular of interceptions as Emoji lost about four yards in the process of completing the catch, but a devastatingly effective one given field position. Agent Tesla: Led to an easy touchdown just a few plays later so I would have to agree with you there. Now this next play may not seem much by the yardage gained, but yardage can be deceiving when it comes to the difficulty of the play. Eight minutes left in the second quarter, second and ten on the Honolulu forty-two yard line, and Forrest Gump takes the hand off up the right side against a nine person box. Gets around eight of them, powers through one of them, and is only brought down when three defenders jointly tackle him to bring him down after an eleven yard gain. Great job by Gump here. Magnus Rikiya: Best running back room in the league and despite what some people might say Gump definitely still has it. Agent Tesla: Agreed on both counts. This next play was one that was very impressive given the particular attribute involved and happened about five minutes into the second quarter. Second and seven on the Honolulu forty-six yard line and Corvo Havran drops back to pass. Corvo manages to dodge a would be sack which is impressive enough, but finds Jed Podolak who outraces the speedy secondary of the New Orleans Second Line for a twenty-six yard pick up before they get tackled from behind. Credit to Corvo for a good job, but since it is Corvo everyone expects that now. It is much more impressive to me to just outrun the super speedy secondary of the New Orleans Second Line for such a distance. Great job by Jed using their talented legs to make it happen. Magnus Rikiya: I hate to see it happen to my team of course, but Jed deserves credit for a fantastic play here. Big props to Corvo for being good enough that we expect that level of play from him though. Great job by both of them and just unfortunate that it came against us. I hate to say it but those two are also the source of our next highlight coming a few minutes into the second half. Second and ten on the New Orleans twenty-six yard line and Corvo stands in a collapsing pocket long enough to find Jed who drags the defender on him forward all the way for a twenty-six yard touchdown reception. Those two just brutalized our secondary. Agent Tesla: Respect to them for being able to do such an outstanding job against a strong secondary. Also a bit interesting that both plays were for twenty-six yards. The next play we want to highlight was our very own Bona’beri Jones showing that it is not only the Hahalua that can outrun a secondary. About four minutes into the third quarter, second and thirteen on the New Orleans thirty-six yard line, and the pocket holds long enough for Stan Francisco to find Bona’beri Jones. Bona’beri Jones managed to get past a bump and then just outran the defender for a terrific thirty-seven yard pickup. Honolulu was playing without anyone deep and they paid the price as Jones did an outstanding job. Magnus Rikiya: Thrilled to be able to return it after being on the receiving end of a similar play this game. Great job by Bona’beri Jones! The next one I have to highlight as it came with five and a half minutes left in the third quarter and was an outstanding job by our defensive front. First and ten on the New Orleans twenty-nine yard line and Havran drops back to pass with two extra blockers kept in for protection. New Orleans blitzes with six people and so is outnumbered seven blockers to six rushers, but Ugarth cares not for your numbers and fights his way through for the seven yard sack! Agent Tesla: I absolutely love it! Defensive player of the year right there! The very next play the other linebacker for the New Orleans Second Line Quenton Bode made their presence known by coming in after a six yard run to force a fumble that was fallen on by Andrew Witten. A superb job by the linebacker group and credit to Witten as a member of the secondary for helping out by getting the takeaway. Magnus Rikiya: These two plays back to back and you can see the top end potential of our defense. One of the best linebacker duos in the league if you ask me and I am so glad to have them on my team. Agent Tesla: Strong agree on all counts. The next highlight comes with just about four minutes left in the game and effectively ended any hopes of a comeback for the New Orleans Second Line. Second and seven on the Honolulu thirty-five yard line and Corvo Havran drops back into a clean pocket. Corvo has the time to find Jacoby Clay dealing with single coverage and gives him the fifty fifty ball which he wins away from the defender. Jacoby Clay carries the defender for a twenty-eight yard gain here before another member of the defense is able to get there to finish off the play. There is not a moment of this play where Jacoby Clay was open, but they made it happen anyway and they definitely deserve respect for that. Magnus Rikiya: Hate to see it dash our hopes, but credit where it is due that was a fantastic play by Honolulu and especially by Jacoby Clay. The last highlight is also the last play of the game with the Hahalua having a first and ten on the New Orleans fifteen yard line. They take a rush up the right side where the runner is met by Quenton Bode who successfully forces the ball out of their hands. Xavien Adams does a stellar job here scooping the ball up and managing to return it sixteen yards despite the fact that the game was already over. That never quit attitude is one that I love and that I immensely respect. Agent Tesla: I definitely agree with that attitude being a great one. The tenacious temperament of this defense is one that will serve the team well in future games despite it overall falling flat here. Magnus Rikiya: This was definitely a game that was lost by the defense, or won by the Honolulu Hahalua offense depending on your perspective. We gave up almost two hundred yards rushing and that is unacceptable given how good our defensive line should be at this point in the season. I include myself here since it was a tremendous failure on my part as the dedicated tackle of the defensive line allowing them to run all over us like they did. My expectation for this defense is that we win the game if the offense can put up at least twenty points and we failed to fulfill our end of the bargain here. This is before we get into the front failing to properly pressure Corvo Havran who had a passer rating of over a hundred despite the talent on our defense. We sacked him just once all game and only pressured him into throwing the ball away once. Given how outstanding Ugarth's play has been all season long I have to say this is a hundred percent on me failing to draw double teams often enough to get him the openings he needs to make plays. Although Honolulu being able to speed past our secondary did no favors to our defense either. Honolulu definitely deserves credit for playing an outstanding game here, however I have to say as a member of the defense I do not think we performed as well as we could have, or as well as we should have honestly. Agent Tesla: I agree that the defense did not play as well as it could have or should have, however credit where it is due to the Honolulu Hahalua whose outstanding offense was able to defeat New Orleans' daunting defense. Would be remiss not to note here that the Second Line had ten penalties and only two of them were on the defense. This was just an ugly game for the Second Line, and Hahalua playing clean enough to draw just one flag gave them a clear cut advantage. Great job to them on a well deserved win. Magnus Rikiya: Credit to them for beating us yeah. I know they had to work for it even if the scoreboard or stat sheet might not suggest it. Agent Tesla: I completely agree. Now just like last week I believe there is only one answer for offense, but defense could go a couple of different ways. Agreed? Magnus Rikiya: Ruff Ruff absolutely wrecked us that is absolutely certain. Thirty touches for 126 yards and three touchdowns just blows every other offensive performance out of the water. No other player broke ninety yards or one touchdown. Closest runner up is Corvo Havran going twenty-one of thirty for 243 yards and a touchdown on a 105 passer rating. So a hundred percent Ruff Ruff was offensive player of the game. Agent Tesla: Definitely agree with you there. Now for defense I would give the defensive player of the game award to Quenton Bode who had sixteen tackles, one for loss, and two forced fumbles. While Bode was not able to recover either of them that outstanding play all game long is deserving of recognition and I will give them my vote this time around. Magnus Rikiya: Given how badly our defense as a whole played I have to disagree with giving the award to a member of my team. Which is why I would vote for Emondov Emoji with six tackles, two passes defended, and an interception. Our defense did not get enough stops to be worthy of an award here and Emoji was a key part of their defense doing the job of getting the win. Agent Tesla: Ooh, you make good points. Still I will stand by supporting the New Orleans Second Line and so we will go to the battle dome that is rock paper scissors. We will go best three out of five this time. Agent Tesla: Well it was a well fought battle with two ties to start us out, a trade of wins with paper, a trade of wins with scissors, a tie with paper, but Magnus managed to beat me with rock in the final round. You won the game and so it would be yours to award anyway, but you also made some excellent points so I will concede that that the award for defensive player of the game goes to Emondov Emoji. Magnus Rikiya: It was a difficult game going eight rounds, but Emoji is definitely more deserving of it in my eyes with how well they did on the winning defense. Sorry Quenton that the rest of the defense let you down this time around, but I still respect your play pal! Agent Tesla: Now for those viewers at home that decided to pick up this article and have not read any of the previous ones from this season; the way we wrap up these articles is by going over who my client Magnus Rikiya swapped jerseys with after the game. Magnus is a big fan of jersey swaps and has been doing them throughout his career, although we are only highlighting them now as my media work at the DSFL level was more draft oriented. We want to give credit though to players who are nice enough to participate and some of whom who are dear friends of ours. All that explained, who did you end up swapping jerseys with for this game Magnus? Magnus Rikiya: I actually talked to him before the game to catch up as we are good friends from our time as members of the well respected Baltimore Muleriders. Momona Keiki-K?ne king of the S22 draft class, arguably the best defensive tackle in the class, and an outright outstanding player all around. Pleased as punch that I get to have the jersey from his first NSFL game with a sack, and that we were able to hang out some after the game. The Baltimore Muleriders are still one of the best defensive lines I have ever had the pleasure of playing with, and I am so happy that I have maintained some of the friendships from that time. Agent Tesla: Always nice to maintain good relationships like that! I know you will not share any specifics about your time together, but glad you got to enjoy Momona's company. Magnus Rikiya: Thank you for that. Agent Tesla: So I believe we have everything covered then unless there is something you wanted to add? Magnus Rikiya: Congratulations again to the Hahalua for getting the win, and thanks for being such lovely hosts. Thanks to all the people who read this article and hope you all have a great day! Agent Tesla: Just cosign all of that for me and we will see you all next time! Stay safe out there and remember to wash your hands! Code: Word Count: 2782 |
