*DSFL Week 6 Round Up - 2Burkeulosis - 05-12-2020 Another week in the books for the DSFL. Let’s take a look at some of the highs and lows. First game the London Royals versus the Dallas Birddogs. The Jack brothers face off for the first time this season. Monty Jack strikes first with a beautiful dime to his wide receiver Mike Lee. Monty just always looked like he was one step ahead of his twin brother as the Birddogs pull off a win 21-18. Next we head north to Myrtle Beach where the Bucs take on the Minnesota Grey Ducks. I don’t know whether to chalk this one up to good defense or poor offense. On the one hand both teams were held to under 20 points. On the other hand no turnovers for either team and only a couple of sacks each. The first points of this game were scored by the Minnesota kicker Phillip Stein towards the end of the first quarter. Bucs quarterback Chris Ramos shows off his speed and agility rushing in for a touchdown with less than 5 minutes in the third quarter giving his team the lead. However Jamar Lackson and company quickly march down the field and the Grey Ducks activate their trap card TE Blake Gragg gets involved in the run game punching it in for the touchdown and it looked like things could have ended here until Kal Solarin drilled a 42 yard field goal with just over 2 minutes left to play, sending this game to overtime. Both teams got multiple opportunities to put this one away but in the end it was a 3 yard run by Rice Ahoc-Machine that gave Minnesota the win in this one 16-10 Over in Portland a slightly more offensive focused game unfolds. Joseph Petrongolo has his first 100 yard rushing game of his career. Meanwhile George O'Donnell links up with rookie hotshot Videl-San and franchise cornerstone Daniel George for a couple of touchdowns. He also threw a pick six to Norfolk Linebacker Jack Banks and an INT to CB Bayden Brosley in the fourth sealing this game. Opposite of the Pythons the Ramza era continues for Norfolk as Suleiman Ramza once again leads the depth chart relegating Luke Skywalker to a secondary qb position. Ramza performed well that day, protecting the ball with zero turnovers and capitalizing on an 84 yard kickoff return by Brosley, scoring the game winning touchdown. The big question still remains. Which of Norfolk’s two QBs will be the permanent starter for this team? Finally down in beautiful, sunny Tijuana the Luchadores pull off a shocking come from behind victory over the Kansas City Coyotes. RC3 started the day off strongly dropping in a surgical 19 yard bomb to Taylor Cooper. Another rushing touchdown and field goal put the Coyotes up 17-7 going into the half. Luchadores start clawing their way back. The Tijuana defense earned their paychecks this day holding the Coyotes scoreless in the second half most notably forcing a 3 and out after a Ben Slothisberger interception gave the Coyotes excellent field position. This included a 10 yard sack by Junior Lopez knocking them out of field goal range. Fast forward to the final minutes of the game Luchadores are inside the redzone when offensive lineman Tiny Wall gets called on an illegal formation penalty backing his team up to the 14. Fourth down the Luchadores need a touchdown so they go for it Jim Waters finds Jackson Kingston for the fourth time this day Jeremy Quellers makes contact at the one but Kingston reaches out with everything he’s got and just makes it over the line! Tijuana wins it 20-17 606 words *DSFL Week 6 Round Up - Blasoon - 05-13-2020 Thanks for the kind words. They're always appreciated. |
